Got more information from the proxy administrator in the meantime:
{quote}all requests came from one user. Apparently the computer or the
application had a problem. The update-checker ran a loop
{quote}
So maybe there's a bug in the updates checker that can cause a loopor maybe
someone was hacking at NetBeans and made a mistake ;)

Thank [~bentmann] for clarifying, I agree that it's very minor commits ;-)

I have started the lazy vote on the general@incubator.a.o list in the
"[VOTE][LAZY][IP CLEARANCE] Mojohaus Maven Utilities, for the NetBeans podling"
thread [1]

Once that vote passes, in at least 72 hours, we'll need to add references to
this vote like at the bottom of
http://incubator.apache.org/ip-clearance/sling-dynamic-includes.html and then
the code can be imported.

Bertrand Delacretaz commented on NETBEANS-1335:

Does mojohaus own any rights on the donated software? If not I think it's fine
to remove their name, I suppose the plugin moved there when Codehaus closed
shop and it's probably more correct to attribute the code to "the Mojohaus
Maven Utilities community".

As for Benjamin Bentmann best might be to verify that he agrees to the
donation? A comment from him here mentioning that would be good enough I
suppose.

I think it's reasonable to use
[https://github.com/mojohaus/nbm-maven-plugin/graphs/contributors] as the
source of contributors names, considering that graph goes back to 2006.

Once your points 1. and 2. are clarified I think this is good to go! Once we
agree on that, next steps is a  [LAZY] approval vote on
[general@incubator.a.o|mailto:general@incubator.a.o] like for example

[jira] [Commented] (NETBEANS-1335) IP-CLEARANCE for Mojohaus NetBeans Utilities

Thanks for this!

The IP clearance form has been published automatically, I think the site is
generated once a day, it's at
http://incubator.apache.org/ip-clearance/netbeans-mojohaus-utilities.html

So it looks like NetBeans PPMC members can indeed make changes to that form
without the help of mentors.

Next steps are to take care of all items which have an empty date field on that
page as well as provide a link to a PPMC vote on accepting that contribution.

Can you or someone else from the PPMC drive that? I'm happy to assist as needed
but it's best if the PPMC learns how to do that.

[jira] [Created] (NETBEANS-851) About box and splash screen don't say "Apache"

2018-05-23 Thread Bertrand Delacretaz (JIRA)
Bertrand Delacretaz created NETBEANS-851:

Summary: About box and splash screen don't say "Apache"
 Key: NETBEANS-851
 URL: https://issues.apache.org/jira/browse/NETBEANS-851
 Project: NetBeans
  Issue Type: Improvement
Reporter: Bertrand Delacretaz
 Attachments: tryme-about.jpg

I'll attach a screenshot of the rc1-rc1 about box, that I get from the About
menu after starting with "ant tryme".

I think it should say "Apache NetBeans more prominently" and it would be nice
to include an Apache logo as well.

I wasn't quick enough to get a screenshot of the splash screen but it looks
similar and should also probably be enhanced.

{quote}If no other Apache projects have something, it basically means we need
to figure out how and whether we can do it, rather than being able to rely on
an existing solution.
{quote}

To clarify: https://issues.apache.org/jira is shared between all Apache
projects that use it, so it's not necessarily easy to get special modules and
plugins installed of configured for a specific project.

OTOH the NetBeans PPMC can get their own box (VM etc.) and run specific
services there, as long as the PPMC accepts responsibility for running those
services.
