I was able to find the root cause of the {{TestZKFailoverController}} failures,
I created a new PR ([PR-1656|https://github.com/apache/hadoop/pull/1656]).
Let's see if any other tests will fail.

Quick analysis: the ZK test failing creates a TestingServer which is
implemented in Curator. Curator supposedly decides based on ZK version on the
classpath if it runs in 3.5 or 3.4 mode. Somehow it looks like it decides to
run in 3.5 mode even though there is a 3.4 ZK on the classpath (that's why ZK
is excluded in curator's dependency).

This requires further analysis, but just a question: [~weichiu], is there a
chance Hadoop would upgrade to ZooKeeper 3.5? Edit: It's fine to upgrade to
3.5.5 and an easy update to 3.5.6 from there.

wait for 3.5.6, as it fixes a CVE and also fixes some issues that came up,
including upgrade from 3.4.x to 3.5(.5). It is already on vote to release.

Was this the failure you were referring [~weichiu] ? Because unit tests passed
on the PR?
This might be a local issue for me...
