Re: Neo 1973 - new battery?

Hi,

Where can I find a new battery for my Neo 1973?

The Neo1973 and Freerunner share the same battery.

Unfortunately, they do not. gta01 battery is almost the same as Nokia
BL-6C but the average thermistor resistance is 10k (unlike ~60k in
Nokia). gta02 battery incorporates bq27000 -- a smart chip with
coloumb counter and other battery monitoring abilities.

gta01 can't charge non-gta01 battery effectively because temperature
monitoring can't be disabled in hardware (pcf50606).

Re: [wikireader] Project Gutenberg (again)

2010-06-09 Thread Tom Bachmann
Sure. We'll add it to our todo list. Please keep us posted as to your
progress. This is super exciting work you're doing!

Well, there is not all that much more to say. I have been fixing minor
glitches during the last days. I completely converted gutenberg-de
yesterday and it is working fine in the simulator. I'm currently
converting all of the german and english ebooks of project gutenberg
(about 25000 ebooks, this will yield about 3.5GB of .dat files). Will
probably take all day and longer on my dual-core laptop.

When I return to Germany on Sunday (I study in the UK) I will finally
order a wikireader to test this on real hardware.

MC Navi 0.2.10 released

2010-06-09 Thread Mike Crash

Hi all,

I have released new version of MC Navi. It should be (more) stable now
(hope) and have some improvements:
- added support for orchards
- draw cycle and tourist ways (for cycle and foot)
- added GPS menu with satellites
- draw the street names

More info here:
http://www.gps-routes.info/index.php?name=Contentpa=showpagepid=1

This version needs new map, download at:
http://www.gps-routes.info/index.php?name=Downloadsd_op=viewdownloadcid=3
If marked with (old/uncompatible - do not use), do not download it, it is
old version. I will regenerate it in some days.

parts for the buzzfix

2010-06-09 Thread Peter Nijs
Hello,

I'm searching for the parts for the buzz-fix so I could do it myself. I only
find it quite difficult to difficult to find the needed components: 2K2 0402
smd resistor and a small ceramic 100µF smd cap. On farnell you have to be a
company and digikey charges 18 Euro transport costs :O. The local electronic
shop doesn't have any of this components.

Is there anyone on this list who can send a cap and some resistors to
somewhere near Leuven, Belgium in an envelope for a reasonable price?

For the #1024 fix I used the parts from an old hard-drive (by try and

It'd be a bit too long for me to send you the parts but i can suggest
using 0603 R (it fits there all right because one side of it should be
connected to the ground plane anyway.) and a tantalum capacitor, those
are much easier to source.

The 100uF tantalum capacitors of type C are usable for both buzzfix

Thanks for the tips. I already found them on rs-components (and I have
contacts who can order there). But aren't tantalum cap's polarised? Or is the
mic signal DC? Or is there another reason why this isn't a problem?

My coursebook states that they can withstand voltage reversal. I interpreted
this line as: they're not designed for it, but if you do it once by accident,
they won't break.

They're indeed polarised and it's not a problem given the way they are
connected. You connect - to the GND, and + to one of the mic's
terminals, thus creating a filter that stabilises the voltage on that
terminal. The other terminal is used to get the actual signal.

The cap is smoothing the mic bias supply, and polarised caps are regularly
used for this purpose. You just have to make sure you put them the right way
round ;-) In this case the mic bias is +ve.

Re: Neo 1973 - new battery?

2010-06-09 Thread Ed Kapitein
Hi Torinn,

I bought a bigger battery for my HTC magican once with this shop.
They shipped fast, no problem there, but my HTC was utterly confused
about how full the battery was. i was stuck on 30% for days :-)

But with the shop i had no problem whatsoever.

Kind regards,
Ed

Hmm, is this store any good?

Thank you all for the tips and the offers. Unfortunately I don't have the time
to search for the specific cap, nor do I have unused ethernet cards. So I
ordered a tantalum cap together with the resistors, who are practically free,
with a friend who can combine this order with a much bigger order.

I'll keep the tips of the network cards and harddrives in mind for the 1024
fix and the bass rework which are of less importance right now. I'll do that
in a couple of months when I have more time.

Does anyone know where to get such a display? Who is making them?

what I noticed is that a 300ppi resolution is what's written about in
Star Trek TNG technical manual ;)

What I noticed is that Apple, unlike Nullsoft, did not skip version 4 of
their skinnable product. Consequently, a skintone (or yellow) skin
could be created for the iPhone 4 to create some iPhone 4 skin IP. ;)
Probably for reasons similar to not naming the Macintosh SE/30 the
Macintosh SEx (the SE/30 is an eXtended Macintosh SE; the SE/30 is
essentially a Macintosh IIx in an SE case), though, Apple decided to
market “Bumpers for iPhone 4” instead of iPhone 4 skins. ;)

Now where is the news story about the pornographer who is pissed off

when do we get replicators warp drive ?

Windows 2000 had a Replicator group in 1999 (did Windows NT = 4.0 have
a Replicator group too?) and OS/2 Warp 3 could be installed on a warp
drive in 1994. ;) I opened the OS/2 article on Wikipedia to verify OS/2
Warp 3 was released in 1994, as I thought, and discovered OS/2 Warp /is/
actually named after Star Trek! See
