Same here, but a least I don't have more echo on the phone.

To set IPv4 from the openmoko terminal:

ifconfig usb0 192.168.0.202 netmask 255.255.255.0 broadcast
192.168.0.255

I can ssh but can't ping google.com from the OM, any idea? I've tried
to set the ip of my gateway machine (192.168.0.200) in /etc/
Resolv.conf, with no success.

Re: WSOD

2008-12-17 Thread Alexandre Girard
Hi Ole,

For the WSOD, I recommand you to use the SHR distribution.

I had the same problem for a few month, killing any usuability of the
phone, but since SHR have resolved it, it's far more enjoyable to use
the phone.

You can download it here:

http://shr.bearstech.com/shr-testing/images/neo1973/

shr-image-om-gta02.jffs2 at the end of the list.

 Hi everyone!

I have not been reading the lists lately, so I don't know if this is

I have been suffering badly from WSOD. This means, often when I
 resumed
from suspend the screen showed all white while other things still
worked. Sometimes it recovered after some minutes and screen worked
again, sometimes I waited for maybe 10 minutes then switched off the
device. I had this problem since I got the device in July and I always
thought this was a kernel problem. I tried about every kernel
 version so
far but it was always the same.

Now, GPS was not working on my device, so last week I finally returned
it to my distributor and he sent me a new one.

I am using the exact same kernel and distribution[1] that was giving
 my
WSOD all the time on the old device (just like every kernel and
distribution was given WSOD). But suspend/resume is now working
 flawlessly. No white screen ever!

So this bug is highly hardware related after all? Replacing the
 hardware
 fixed it for me.

 Hi All,

Wohoo, after today's kernel upgrade the infamous WSOD seems to be gone
for me. I rebooted the phone and am now running for several hours
without encoutering WSOD. The phone seems to reliably wake up from
suspend at incoming calls (tested only once, though) and performs
 quite
fine after manual resume. I didn't test incoming SMS, yet.

Anyway - good job guys. Now I only need a fix for the annoying echo to
have a (in my point of view) fully functional phone.

Receiving empty sms after registration

2008-10-31 Thread Alexandre Girard
Hi,

I receive an empty sms each time I register with my phone provider
(Bouygues in France, Simio in Spain), with an origin address like _@.

Has anybody got the same behavior?
Is it coming from the phone or from the provider?

Also, sms duplicate in the message box each time the phone switch on,
I suppose it's a bug, but I'm not sure where to report it.

Have a nice day,

Re: Mac USB Networking

2008-09-12 Thread Alexandre Girard
Hi,

It's nt our router address you need to put ine the USB network config,
it's the openmoko IP (described here as a router), because it's
configure as 192.168.0.202 in its conf.

No crashes yet with opkg on usb networking, a bit slow but internet
sharing works nice :)

Are you sure this is the correct address? I 'had' to put in
192.168.62.1 (my router's address) to get it to work.

 * Some crash on the mac if you boot/shutdown with the usb plugged

Also, lots of crashes if you do opkg upgrade (at least, I've had lots
 of problems with that).

Re: Mac USB Networking

2008-09-11 Thread Alexandre Girard
Hi Lally,

Here are some notes I took when configuring the USB networking, it's
not really different from the wiki page.

It's working great on my macbook ( and with image 2008.8), it might
help you:

* Install AJZaurusUSB driver on mac:
http://www.dsitri.de/wiki.php?page=AJZaurusUSB
* After reboot, configure USB networking in Network pref panel:

IP-V4: manual
IP-Addr: 192.168.0.200 (you can use anything in 192.168.0.* but OM is
configured by default to use 192.168.0.200 as the external gateway)
Subnet: 255.255.255.0 (should be the default - see tip below if have
issue with these settings)
Router: 192.168.0.202 (not actually needed, OS X can figure this out
for itself, unless you have other conflicting configurations)

* Connect openmoko and: ssh [EMAIL PROTECTED]
* hotplug problem, disconnected network - change usb port, reboot
computer
* Some crash on the mac if you boot/shutdown with the usb plugged

Yes, even using a non-zero return code from a apm proxy shell
