Please be aware that unlocked phones are not guaranteed to work on the
ATT network.
When you use an unlocked phone you are running a chance that your
internet and picture messages will not work.
This is because the phone does not have the pre programmed network
settings inside the phone.
The downside is that there is no way to get these settings into the
phone.
The only way to ensure that you can use these features is to use a ATT

to build e17 locally.
Try to read documentation in debian on FR wiki about e17 or e17 docs

If you really want to compile an e17 on FR install all dependencies

Ascii art could be nice too. And wouldn't require much hacking on the device

I've just tried to view 240 pixel wide images in ASCII, cannot see nothing.
Using .PBM let you see (in worst case) something.

Use ul, div, and so on. It's easy, believe me.

For the first release

kimaidou пишет:
Hi all

I wanted to be able to send a sms to my freerunner (with another phone)
and then make it call me back on this another phone.
So I installed sms-sentry, and then add this few lines to
/usr/bin/sms-sentry in the function on_incomming_message, just after
the bloc if contents.startswith(sentry)
if contents.startswith(my_secret_password):
print Calling back the sms sender
mycommand = 'mdbus -s org.freesmartphone.ogsmd
/org/freesmartphone/GSM/Device org.freesmartphone.GSM.Call.Initiate
u\\' + sender + '\\ u\\voice\\'
res = os.popen(mycommand)
print Appel en cours
Then you can try to send you a sms with the content : my_secret_password
, and a call should be initiated.
I personnaly use it to listent to my baby when I go to some friends and
she sleps in another room.

NB :
* it is very rough. If someone knows how to handle properly the dbus
command to initiate the call with the dbus python bindings, please help :D
* You can change the my_secret_password into whichever password you like.
* Be aware that you will pay for the call initiated by your freerunner
(it calls you back !).
* Be carefull to respect the indentation of the python script.
* I hope the email won't break the lines between the
Wow!
Very impressive!
So it'll be very easy to track you Frerunner back.
Just add call to some script to silently report GPS location by SMS or
(ab)using GRPS connection.
And AFAIR it was heavily requested feature some time ago (considering
SIM wasn't replaced yet).

hi, i track flights on regular basis :) what you might find out is:

- in terminals, the glass has metal coating so no fix
- you can get a fix on a plane easily and track your flight even with
fr in the pocket in the seat in front of you (just needs to stick out
a bit). make sure you get a fix before departing (see bellow)
- during the flight, the blinds get usually shut, but you can stuck
your fr right behind it (with a bit of force :)
- FSO has a bug in reporting the speed - you will notice in speed
above 200km - check between shr settings and tango
- FSO is quite unable to get a fix while in 1m altitude and (or)
high speed. it sees the satelites, get's a fix and then for some
reason something happens and no satelite is being seen anymore. this
will repeat fo as long as you leave it.

If you want to use the Openmoko GPS on the plane some ublox woodo might
be handy.
I have seen some messages on mail-lists about Antaris chip modes and one
was suitable for planes (2g).
Unfortunately I can't find it now.

- shr settings would allow you to switch gsm off but unfortunately,
although it's fso based, it is too much related to ophonekitd and
therefore the whole work will have to be duplicated in distros not
using ophonekit. so now the same settings are being worked on for
 om2009. what a shame...

There general problem with RTL languages (Farsi, Hebrew, Arabic) in all
illume based distros (OM2009 SHR, FSO), it's being solved but can't say
where this work will finished.
Debian have decent support for Farsi AFAIK. But I dont know about telephony

For sending SMS/E-mail you have to use Farsi onscreen keyboard, I havn't
