Re: QtMoko and WPA

Hi Stefan, here'show I do it when starting with a fresh install: open the "internet"setting tap menu ->New, then Wireless Lan tap on the Wireless Lan in the list of accessible services, then menu-> WLAN detection. Wait for your ESSID to show up. quit that screen to go back to the list of acessible services. if not highlighted, tap Wireless Lan again, then menu->Properties. Scroll down to Wireless encryption, tap on it. Make sure your ESSID is selected in the drop-down on top. Set Encryption to WPA-PSK, type in your passphrase. _tap on something else to deselect the passphrase before quitting the dialog_, else it will be deleted. If necessary switch between TKIP and aes. Quit that dialog and the other one, to get back to the list of available network services. Highlicht Wireless Lan, then menu->Start. It should work. This assumes you get assigned all network configuration by DHCP and use a simple WPA-PSK scheme. Tested with a Fritz!Box 7150. regards Peter ___ Openmoko community mailing list community@lists.openmoko.org http://lists.openmoko.org/mailman/listinfo/community

Edit /etc/default/gpsd and set DEVICES="/dev/ttySAC1" I tried to upgrade, and it seemed to go smoothly except for the upgrade of the mokofaen theme. "apt-get upgrade" tried to download it form qtmoko.sourceforge.org/./mokofaen-something, while it probably should have downloaded from qtmoko.sourceforge.org/apps/mokofaen-something. So it's just a misconfiguration in the urls apt-get uses. "apt-get upgrade --fix-missing" skipped the installation of the mokofaen-theme, which I installed from the apps-website afterwards. /etc/default/gpsd was already configured the proper way, but that may be due to an version i previously installed to use navit. What are the new displays on the homescreen for? I think one is for power consumption, and the one with the sphere might display the identification of the gsm cell I am booked into, but what is the P-shaped symbol for? regards Peter ___ Openmoko community mailing list community@lists.openmoko.org http://lists.openmoko.org/mailman/listinfo/community

QtMoko navit wrapper script, clock stays on
Hi all, to automatically power on the gps in my freerunner when I start navit (the version from http://qtmoko.sourceforge.net/apps/qtmoko-navit.html), i renamed the file /opt/qtmoko/bin/navit to /opt/qtmoko/bin/navit.bin and created a script file /opt/qtmoko/bin/navit as follows: #!/bin/sh /opt/qtmoko/bin/gps-poweron.sh /opt/qtmoko/bin/navit.bin /opt/qtmoko/bin/gps-poweroff.sh Now when I click on the navit-icon in the list of applications, after some time, navit starts up. But the clock indicating that the system is busy does not go away until i quit navit. The gps is powered on and navit can read the data from gpsd. I also tried #!/bin/sh /opt/qtmoko/bin/gps-poweron.sh /opt/qtmoko/bin/navit.bin & which does hides the clock once (I assume) the gps-poweron.sh is finished, but has the drawback of not turning off the gps when I quit navit and gives a subjectivley worse responsiveness of navit. I also tried putting StartupNotify=true in /opt/qtmoko/apps/Applications/navit.desktop and ran qcop QPE/DocAPI 'scanPath(QString, int)' /opt/qtmoko/apps/Applications 1 afterwards (like in the postinst script from the .deb package) to make the change visible to qtmoko. It didn't help. Also I tried to use a hook script in gpsd to turn on the gps once a client (navit) connects to pull data, but that feature is not present in the version of gpsd that comes with qtmoko. Any help on how to get rid of the clock icon in the first script or ideas on how to automate gps startup and shutdown is welcome. kind regards Peter ___ Openmoko community mailing list community@lists.openmoko.org http://lists.openmoko.org/mailman/listinfo/community

You need to adjust paths to the paths used by qtmoko, but under qtmoko ~v26 I got it to work an noticed predictive effects :-). I haven't tried for recent versions of qtmoko. Steps 6&7 for non-germans: replace en_US by de_DE in the mentioned file twice, and reboot freerunner. It also mentions the .dawg file is from a debian package called "wngerman", maybe something similar exists for your languages. If the battery can not charge while the phone is suspended, then cable should have maximum priority and avoid suspending the device (unless we are on 100mA USB-power only). But generally having cable override everything sounds reasonable because of the ssh case. qi boot into third partition
Hi, I have three partitions on my sd-card and each of them contains a bootable system. How do I get qi bootloader to boot the system in the third partition? Booting first partition is just pressing and releasing power. Booting second partition is pressing power, releasing power, pressing aux, waiting for vibration, releasing aux. Hi, I'm in Germany and use "Medionmobile" which is sold at all "Aldi"-Stores in Germany. Unfortunately their FAQ states you need a permanent residence address in Germany and they will check whether a person with the name and address you provide them exists before letting you make calls. Same appears to be valid for "Fonic" and I assume the others won't be different So, no suggestion, just a warning. Hi, could everyone who listed themselves on http://wiki.openmoko.org/wiki/GroupSales please update their status so people who are still looking for a group sale find others more easily. We could have like a list of fame for those who already got their device via group sale. Those who are no longer interested because they bought their freerunner on their own please tell that too (also those who don't want one). Especially the group sale Germany/Sachsen needs 2 more participants. Thanks Peter ___ Openmoko community mailing list community@lists.openmoko.org http://lists.openmoko.org/mailman/listinfo/community
