Please don't get me wrong, but one should not write e-mail in capital
  letters;

you don't think, there might be reasons?

concerning the archives, I think there are 100++ mails a day
and if you are refering to a good point you should point to that e-mail
in detail; the archives are good, but without some search engine ...

the issue of buzz, fix and how and where have been discussed _so_ often
that anybody reading this list should know the answers by heart.
for everybody else onbly the term buzz shouldN#t be more than enough to
find the plethora of mails answering drac2000's whining.

i am sick and tired aof complaints like i don't understnd why om is not
helping -- om has given to understand, taht work is going on, that more
test has to be made and that they are working on how to provide the fixes
(lord, why did i write that? why did i not let him search all by
 himself?).
if he thinks that is to much to carry for him, he should either sell his
fr or simply ask if there are any news on the schedule -- but these
constant complaints and accusations are driving me crazy!

[QTextended 4.4.2] Browser is buggy?!

2008-11-04 Thread steffen . linux
Hey there,

after getting my GPRS connection working, I now have a problem with the browser
of QTextended.

When I surf on a website (maybe google.com) the website is rendered
correctly...but, when I type something in the search box and hit Search there
is for a very short moment a loading bar with 10%, after maybe 1/2 second it is
away and nothing else happened...

Same on many other sites: When I click on something that should redirect me to
an other website, the browser doesn't make anything.

Is there someone else who discovers this problem? Or is it a problem with my
GPRS connection?

hi,

oh...that wasn't my idea...I've tried several howtos for the OM distro (none
works, perhaps because I don't want to disable my PIN for security reasons...)
and in one of them (on freeyourphone.de - german community) there was that
hint, that you've to enter something into that, even if your provider doesn't
need it ;)

I needed a proxy to make it work and (in my case) proxy, DNS and Gateway are
all the same...write an email to your provider to get these informations...

Happy browsing ;)

manual GPRS connection - impossible due to missing /etc/init.d/gsmd?!

2008-09-10 Thread steffen . linux
Hi,

yesterday evening I tried to get GPRS working...but...in the HowTo (
http://wiki.openmoko.org/wiki/GPRS#Option_3:_Without_GSM_multiplexing_and_without_a_GUI
) stands that you've to stop /etc/init.d/gsmd ...but in my /etc/init.d there
is no gsmd?!

I've used OM2008.8 Image, it's up-to-date and the rootfs/kernel is from
thursday last week.

When I try to execute the script without stopping gsmd, I get and thats
all...the terminal hangs up after that.

Hope that somebody can help me.

Can you search the web until asking on maillist? Or only search a
archive.. gsmd is a part of 2007.2 stack and it isn't on 2008.8 image
 - if i am correct, ASU uses qpe for controlling GSM.

You should use option with multiplexing. With or without GUI - it
 doesn't matter.

Bluetooth Headset compatible to Freerunner?

Hey guys,

I've a questition and I hope that someone could help me:
I'm searching for a bluetooth headset with 2 ears and 1 mic that I can connect

button (at the headset or at the neo, that doesn't matter) and then I can hear
the other person over the headset and speak with him/her over the mic of the
headset.

Is that possible? Where can I find such headsets?

Any bluetooth headset (that has A2DP) should work, that means most of
them. I have to warn although, that this hasn't been done in software
yet afaik so you won't be able to use it for a month or so,
depending on how fast it gets done.

you probably need both a2dp and hsp, ie advanced audio distribution
 profile and headset profile.
a2dp is for receiving high(er) qualitiy sound, hsp for making/receiving
 calls.

be aware taht a lot of headset capable of both profiles inevitable switch
to hsp on incoming calls, so no stereo, only low quality mono.

as far as i understand, the om supports both profiles (and if not it
 should be easy to integrate).

 see
  http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Bluetooth_profile
 for more information.

   Wolfgang Spraul confirmed this.

So my question is: is someone willing to become a reseller for these
screen and case protectors? It seemed to me that there was quite a bit
 of
   interest in it.
I'll also mail this to Lucas Bonnet from Bearstech (where I have
pre-ordered my Freerunner, and whom give good service) and Chris from
  Pulster.de/eu.
I hope someone is willing to help us out.

   Quick reminder about the invisbleSHIELD:
   - protects screen or screen AND case
   - everybody that has it seems satisfied
   - free shipping worldwide
   - lifetime warranty
   - it's the bee's new and improved knees

Re: GPS

2008-06-23 Thread steffen . linux
?you mean
the FreeRunner will have an AGPS integrated, not only GPS
else, your sentence makes no sense...if you don't know what AGPS is
exactly, look it up here - http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Assisted_GPS (IMO the
german version of the article is much better)

in short: A-GPS means, that first the phone will look in which area it is and
then it will try to get it's exact position per GPS...because the phone is
knowing it's roughly position, the phone can get the position over the GPS
System much faster

the FreeRunner will have a true GPS integrated, not only an AGPS
 system, wouldn't it?

Because I was given the address of this flyer:
 http://www.pulster.de/info/pdas/openmoko/freerunner-flyer.pdf
and I hope it is just out-dated
