[shr] sms-sentry not working
Hello, anybody made sms-sentry working in current shr-testing? i wanted to give it a try (since it is included in shr-testing (shr-image-om-gta02.jffs2 Apr 19 09:47) but no luck. Could this be caused by different framework version then sms-sentry was originally written for? Log attached. Dear List, I flashed latest shr image. but it can't display Chinese message correctly. I also googled web, and found nothing. Is there anyway to fix the problem. Or simply an opkg install something? Hi, You need a font that has Chinese characters. For instance I use fireflysung.ttf as my font. Google it and you'll find where to download it. Put the font file into /usr/share/fonts/truetype and you'll be able to choose it in illume-settings. I use SHR too. Sending and displaying Chinese SMSes are OK. You can see my running examples in my album: http://www.flickr.com/photos/ykstortnilats/sets/72157616883527775/detail/ http://www.flickr.com/photos/ykstortnilats/sets/72157616883527775/detail/ I'm currently working on creating a traditional Chinese stroke model for zinnia the handwriting recognizer. Is there anyone who knows how to write traditional Chinese characters can help? Regards, Scott Daniel.Li wrote: Dear List, I flashed latest shr image. but it can't display Chinese message correctly. Matthew Lane wrote: I have a question about SHR SMS. I loved SHR, but I found that call volume was very low, and I had trouble finding my SMS messages. When receiving an incoming SMS, I could not delete the notify window with the Known problem. You can delete the _last_ notification window with the X, but window-closing fail if anything else is opened before you do it. (More messages coming in, or other apps opening windows.) This will likely be fixed, in the meantime the workaround is to delete such windows quickly. Open Messages if you need to look at a SMS again, don't leave those notification windows open. To clear them out: ssh into the phone, and restart the x server with /etc/init.d/xserver-something restart (I don't remember the something, just type up to and including xserver, then hit TAB.) Don't give that command in the terminal window, because the terminal disappears when X shuts down. This kills the script so X won't come up again. If you can't use ssh, just reboot the phone with the power button. This obviously works too, but takes more time. X on the upper illume taskbar, and all of my SMS messages said they were received on Jan 1, 1987. I'm assuming this is because I didn't correctly set my system clock, but how would I do that? And how would I raise call volume, and delete the incoming message window? You set the clock with the 'date' command. I.e.: date MMDDhhmm MM month, currently 01 DD day hh hour mm minute However, you should set up the timezone first. The standard recipe is to make /etc/localtime a symlink to the appropriate file in /usr/share/zoneinfo/ , but it looks like copying the file into /etc/localtime is necessary on the freerunner. Well, perhaps a hardlink works too. Helge Hafting ___ Openmoko community mailing list community@lists.openmoko.org http://lists.openmoko.org/mailman/listinfo/community

To change the date/time: http://www.linuxsa.org.au/tips/time.html Even after setting the time, the messages all have the wrong timestamp (mine say January 1970) The [X] button works for me, though (shr unstable, latest updates) On Jan 27, 2009, at 2:29 PM, Matthew Lane wrote: I have a question about SHR SMS. Re: [FSO-SHR] SMS-Middleware - Need Help
Hi again Since I had no answer, I re send my first email, hoping this very interesting tool is successfully used by someone :-) 2009/1/8 kimaidou kimai...@gmail.com Hi all I am trying to use Sms-Middleware http://code.google.com/p/sms-middleware/ which theoritically allows you to load actions when receiving sms with key codes. For example : filter sms from your mum, run any shell command , etc. It is very promising for me, so I tried to install the last ipk on my updated SHR(testing). I haven't seen any email to contact the authors, so I hope they receive the community list. After the installation, I have 2 new icons on the desktop : SMG and SMM. SMG : I can load the first one, but I have not understand how to use it. The only response I get is with the button install plugin. When I do install a plugin (rpc.py for example), I still cannot view it on the plugin list. SMM : when I click on this SMM icon on the desktop, I get an error, and nothing loads. That is where I am now. Has anyone tried this software ? Is it still under developpement (I saw the last ipk was released on august) ? thanks in advance for any help kimaidou ___ Openmoko community mailing list community@lists.openmoko.org http://lists.openmoko.org/mailman/listinfo/community

[FSO-SHR]sms-sentry : questions
Hi all, hi Angus Thanks for putting sms-sentry in the opkg database. I have just installed it, and downloaded the sources. http://handheldshell.com/software/fso/sms-sentry.ph I have one question : in the file sms-sentry.default, there is: PASSWORD=12345 but I haven't seen the use of this password in the python nor the sh file. Could you please tell us how to use the password ? Thanks in advance By the way, there is another project dealing with actions commited by sms reception = sms-middleware http://code.google.com/p/sms-middleware/ There is a plugin which seems to do the same as sms-sentry http://code.google.com/p/sms-middleware/wiki/GPSPositionRequest But the link to dowload the python file is dead. Is it the same project or are theses 2 completely different ?
