When testing my bluetooth headset in FSO, I had big problems with the sound quality. I'll quite my own mail from the thread "Re: Problems with ASoC and Bluetooth routing": Another (I guess unrelated) problem I have is that the sound through the headset is quite bad. I hear a faint echo of myself and the sound has a sharp "metallic" tone to it. My girlfriend in the other end also complained that the sound was so low that it was difficult to hear the conversation. Perhaps it's possible to resolve these things with better ALSA state files, but at least when I tried it, the sound was actually better through the phone. Anyway, the A2DP sound is quite good, so I suppose there is hope :-) // Simon ___ Openmoko community mailing list community@lists.openmoko.org http://lists.openmoko.org/mailman/listinfo/community
Re: Buzz Issues - Last Questions, I promise
@All: Thank you for the responses, I've asked similar questions with no response. @Paul: Bluetooth is one of the options I have been considering, and it's good to know that it may be just around the corner for me. @David: Thank you for the links, I did read some posts about the buzz fix party, and I love the idea. This is great news, but only if you happen to be in the right country. I appreciate openmoko's involvement, but this isn't an official fix. That being said, the fact that users are able to do the fix is one of the empowering things of Open Source Software/Hardware, and why I still don't see any better alternatives to the Freerunner out there (when it comes to open philosophy and community involvement). @Risto: I agree, I'm happy for them too, but would like to be happy for me before my Freerunner's 1 year anniversary. And finally I just want to say that I really am a supporter of Openmoko. I followed the project for more than a year before finally getting my hands on a Freerunner as soon as I was able to after the release. I'm a distributor, and both initiavies are fully supported by OM , and Steve Mosher is directly involved, I know some other big distributors will add to the initative soon, and I recomend to any distributor to contact steve and start doing parties too :) >Anyway, I'm happy for > everyone who are able to get it fixed, I hope I'll be able to do the > same in the following weeks.. Bluetooth headsets to the resque (was: Re: Buzz Issues - Last Questions, I promise)

But please, do developers a favour: if you're not ready to use versions from git, use not exactly documented bluez4 interfaces, etc, wait for the official instructions. Otherwise, join IRC and have fun exploring new bluez lands. -- Be free, use free (http://www.gnu.org/philosophy/free-sw.html) software! mailto:fercer...@gmail.com ___ Openmoko community mailing list community@lists.openmoko.org http://lists.openmoko.org/mailman/listinfo/community
Buzz Issues - Last Questions, I promise
All, First thing I want to apologise for crossposting, I tried popsting this in the hardware section, then realised I was not a subscriber to that mailing list. Maybe that post will not go through, in which case it won't matter. Here we go. Speaking as a fanboy of the Freerunner and everything Openmoko does I can't help but be disheartened by the fact that the noise on my Neo is still preventing me from using it as a phone. Lately I've hardly used it at all, because it kind of feels like it will never be fixed and I get depressed when I look at it. Seeing as I have been offline for a bit regarding the freerunner I may have missed any new information about the fix, so in case I've got it all wrong please point me in the right direction. I've had it for more than half a year now, and the progress made on so many levels is great. I love the freedom and all the different distros. So two questions: 1. Will there ever be an official fix from Openmoko/Truebox/WhicheverSupplierYouBoughtItFrom. By fix I don't mean just instructions on how to do-it-yourself, but a route for non-soldering users to get the fix applied. If not, just say so, I don't want to wait and hope if there will be no change. 2. Has anyone in London applied this fix succesfully? I'd be willing to pay to get this sorted. I feel like one of those moaning idiots on the mailing lists that I usually hate, but I just need this clarified. ezuall -- View this message in context: http://n2.nabble.com/Buzz-Issues---Last-Questions%2C-I-promise-tp2509041p2509041.html Sent from the Openmoko Community mailing list archive at Nabble.com. ___ Openmoko community mailing list community@lists.openmoko.org http://lists.openmoko.org/mailman/listinfo/community
