Yes. We need to fix that. I will try to set the visible lines = 3,
so it starts to do scroll when text is larger than 3 and we
can see what we are writting. Also, no sure if removing the
numbers keys will do that space bigger (because the idea
is removing the number keys and doing the other bigger).

Let me try some tests and I will report if I was able
to fix that.

 I'm a bit confused about where I should report issues for qtmoko.
 There's a bug tracking system in github with 2 closed issues. There's a
 more active one available at sf.net.

The one sourceforge is currently the right one. But maybe we could use the one
on github in future - it makes sense to have code+bugs at one place.

 Also, it would be nice if the project had an open wikipage for such
 things (e.g. a wishlist of apps to be ported and their current status).
 What do you think about migrating all the stuff to github? I'm here to
 help you on this, including migrating issues, wiki contents and doing
 some QA work.

I think you can use

http://sourceforge.net/apps/mediawiki/qtmoko/index.php?title=Main_Page

for wiki. But i have no problem with moving stuff from sourceforge to github if
i dont have to do it myself ;-) If you want to do it, please let me know - i
can try to give you accounts if needed.

I would like to keep sourceforge for downloads and web though. Downloads are
really nice on SF, and web because qtmoko.org directs to
qtmoko.sourceforge.net

Yeah, that would be nice. I think I identified a problem with it

Here is list of changes since v36:

* doc - fixed toolchain instructions (Rafael Ignacio Zurita)
* finger friendly patches for contacts, shutdown, call history, qtmail
(Rafael

* added security.debian.org to sources.list (pabs3)
* using geomirros for in sources.list (pabs3)
* new input biglangscape input method (Rafael Ignacio Zurita)
* autorotation script (Rafael Ignacio Zurita)
* qx can now launch Qt-X11 apps like fbreader (LD_LIBRARY_PATH problem)
* qx can delete X11 lock files (useful if X crashed)
* delete qtopia temp dir on start (local sockets work after unclean
restart)

* fixed singal status polling for AT modems
* option to disable signal polling for AT modems
* dont poll battery immediately on AT modems
* option to disable AT+CCED on AT modem
* option to decode operator name for AT modem plugins
* support for Exec argument .desktop files

Besides this i have figured out, how to quite easily rebuild regular Qt

If i understand it right, navit has plugins for GUI type and painter type. GUI
types are gtk, qml and internal. There are many types of painter plugins
- one of them is qt_painter or e.g. sdl.

internal gui type need just painter and it can draw menus, buttons and so
on. So internal gui and qt_painter can give you the classical navit gui
and i already have it quite working on qtmoko.

Later we would probably need to have Qt GUI so that menus and other controls
are native.

 There are two other things I have noticed:
 - once I want to send the SMS and have to chose a recipient

IIRC that is because when you have choosed the recipient
the GUI shows you the recipients choosed and the Send button again.
There, you can write extra numbers recipients, so keyboard
is showed again, and it rotates the screen.

Yes, that was intentional. Because I could not do them (the
buttons on the right) smaller. If those are showed completely
the others keys will be smaller yet.

 would it be easy to have the letters as a set of single svg

No idea sorry. I do not know qt well. I did that keyboard and

Unfortunately my fingers are still too fat so I often mistype using it. So I

care about not being able to see the top bar whilst I am writing a

quite liked the shr-keyboard as the user could just set the height of the

letters. There are two other things I have noticed:

It should be stable, i dont think there are any changes that could break

Hi Radek
thank to you and to all the QtMoko developers and contributors for the
great work!

I would submit my wishlist:
- WiFi and GPS icons in the title bar;
- a third button in the context bar, maybe for the keyboard;
- SMS and Internet/WiFi in the home screen;
- qtmoko start/stop script:
at least in v35 (and previous versions) if I call /etc/init.d/qtmoko
with restart it doesn't work properly (most of the time I have to turn
off the Neo). But calling qtmoko stop and then qtmoko start works
pretty well. I don't know if it is the same script but in the Quit Menu
(the menu that you recall with the power button) Restart QtMoko has a
similar behaviour (I have to turn off the Neo). If it is so, think to
replace restart qtmoko with qtmoko stop/start script.

Somebody asked me how it works :

To turn on or off the autorotation feature the user will find
the ON/OFF options in the services list (where you
find wifi on/off, gps on/off, etc).

I have fixed some restart problems with this commit:

but maybe it wasnt enough... The wishlist looks nice and should not be that
hard to implement. I hope i will have some time during Christmas.

 - SMS and Internet/WiFi in the home screen;
just to avoid misunderstanding, I mean the launchers like the others in
the home screen, not the indicators like those in the title bar.

Re: QtMoko v37 for GTA02

Hi Radek,

as this seems to become the freerunner wishlist for qtmoko I would like to add:

- SMS writing in Landscape in fullscreen mode (for my big thumbs I need all the
space I can get to have the keys separated ;-) )
- Big SMS Keyboard Layout which can be as edited as the qtmoko themes, making
it
a bit prettier and maybe allow the user to scale its height
- Like the android On/Off gadged for the home screen an On/Off for Wifi (which
then tries to connect to any of the preconfigured wifi spots), for GPS, and
maybe one for cycling through 3 brightness levels
- Maybe for the on/off list in the gears part have it as layouted as:
  task / on / off (which one of the former being different in color to show
the actual status)

Maybe to get little skilled users involved the last point could be even made as
 a template where you write down how it would be acchieved for a single task
and make a reference where on finds all the other commands and someone like me
fills the list and sends you the finished template back. As many of the list
your effort is really appreciated but we all have the fear that at some point
you might consider it to be too time consuming. So like with the themes if
there are little things which can be altered by the standard user it will even
more increase the popularity of your distro.

best regards and a great christmas season to you

robin

QtMoko v37 for GTA02

2011-12-11 Thread Radek Polak
Hi,
after a small delay i am happy to announce QtMoko v37 also for Freerunner. I
have just rebuild the debian package for this release. You can find it here
[1], but apt-get update apt-get upgrade from v35 should work too.

I have not tested the release at all, because my Freerunner is currently
disassembled and is waiting for new case, so please take when upgrading to
v37.

Here is list of changes since v36:

* doc - fixed toolchain instructions (Rafael Ignacio Zurita)
* finger friendly patches for contacts, shutdown, call history, qtmail (Rafael
Ignacio Zurita)
* added security.debian.org to sources.list (pabs3)
* using geomirros for in sources.list (pabs3)
* new input biglangscape input method (Rafael Ignacio Zurita)
* autorotation script (Rafael Ignacio Zurita)
* qx can now launch Qt-X11 apps like fbreader (LD_LIBRARY_PATH problem)
* qx can delete X11 lock files (useful if X crashed)
* delete qtopia temp dir on start (local sockets work after unclean restart)
* fixed singal status polling for AT modems
* option to disable signal polling for AT modems
* dont poll battery immediately on AT modems
* option to disable AT+CCED on AT modem
* option to decode operator name for AT modem plugins
* support for Exec argument .desktop files

Besides this i have figured out, how to quite easily rebuild regular Qt apps
for QtMoko so that you dont have to use qbuild. You can look forward very soon
for FBReader port (just finishing the .deb package), i hope i can do the same
with navit.

Any other ideas for cool qt apps that you would like on QtMoko?

Regards

Radek

I would really love to be able to use Evopedia on QtMoko :
http://www.evopedia.info/
It's a great offline wikipedia viewer. You can access all the content of
wikipedia (except images) through dumps stored on the SD card.

I've been trying to recompile it for QtMoko without success.
