usually by calling
alsactl restore /path/to/your/state/file

i don't know if qtopia provides alsactl or if there's another way to force
the loading of a specific state.

I have this issue every so often as well. The weird thing is when the
loud noise happens, the speaker phone is active as well (I didn't
activate it, it answers with the speaker).

QTE provides alsactl, from what I can see. But what state file should
I restore? I never saved any...

Sorry if all this sounds (reads?) lame, but I never took time to fight
with sound issues yet.

Thanks alot.

no need to -- you've already got a collection.
if all else fails, simply search your filesystem for files ending with
.state, but the list archive should provide several postings with that
path even for qtopia look for echo or buzz in august/september.

as long your states are the original ones the default should be
stereoout.state, enabling the big lower speaker. for calls
gsmhandset.state should be loaded; gsmheadset.state or headset.state (not
sure about the differences) should disable even the little speaker on top.

Ok. I'll try that, but in a controlled environment (e.g. at home).
Because when the noise occurs here (at work), my first move is to
remove the battery ASAP.

Yeah guys, I know that noise is killing your ears, but let me try to
SSH into my phone and fix it first :)

Thanks, anyway.

I think a can bring a little light into the dark. When the feedback
occurs, either the free-speaking-option is activated (see options) or
none is activated. If you choose the handset-option, the feedback is gone.

I'm also using QTE 4.4.2, and I get this behaviour consistently after I
configure a gprs internet connection. On Saturday I noticed it for the
first time without trying to configure a gprs connection - but I'm not sure
what triggered it. I normally try to reboot every couple of days, but
hadn't in a while... It was fine after a reboot...

I guess you just need to pretend the FR is a windows box and reboot it every
couple of days... :-)

I've been using QTE 4.4.2 on my Freerunner for quite some time, now
(almost since it's been released). It works fine, especially because I
don't use it much as a phone (but still a little). For instance, I
have very little to no buzzing problems.

For a couple of weeks, I noticed some very strange things : sometimes
(it looks like it's more likely to happen when the phone haven't been
rebooted for some several days, but then it's only a guess) I got a
very high pitched and loud noise when answering incoming calls.
Usually, I reboot the phone after that (it's so loud and disturbing I
usually remove the battery quickly, for my neighbourhood wouldn't like
it much) and it works fine again.

Any insight on what might cause that, and/or what I can do to further test
 it?

 Thanks.

Well, thanks for your answer, at least I'm not alone :)

I can state the GPRS connection isn't the (only) reason, for I never
configured any on my phone.

Rebooting is a quick-fix, but without knowing how often one should do
it, it's kinda pointless :/

Hi,

I had this issue only once : during a call I wanted to toggle some of the

and...rebooted. Never tried again.
