If Windows Live Mail/Hotmail sends one heavily corrupted and annoying
to read email, does that mean we should ban all @hotmail users? Or
should we wait until it's a pattern? If we asked hotmail users not to
use Rich Text, would they do so?

The list is called community@lists.openmoko.org . You'd have a hard
time successfully telling every potential sender to use the right list
before they post anyway. Or would we all have to change to
community-freerunner-...@lists.openmoko.org and
community-wikirea...@lists.openmoko.org in preparation for a problem
that doesn't yet require a solution?

You mean=2C let's wait until it becomes a problem and than we'll think abou=
t how to control the situation and pray to God some FR people will still be=
on the list after the dust has settled?

You personally might think it is not a problem while others don't want to b=
e bothered with it and already see it as a problem.=20

I still go for the pragmatic approach: two completely separate gizmos =3D t=
wo different user groups =3D two different lists

You can always subscribe to multiple lists if you want.

How about first waiting to see the specs & hear how hackable it is etc
to guesstimate how much community will there be around it and use this

I disagree, it's our choice. These days this mailing list is now bein
operated by the community for the community. We chose what is on topic
and what not. As for the case of the wikireader, why not make a poll and
let all decide whether it's welcome to discuss here or not?

I do agree that not everyone are interested in both products, but
given the traffic we have, now that om2009 is not existing &
discussed, SHR is discussed on other mailing lists so it's mostly
qt/QT/Qt/similar discussion, I think there's still room for wikireader
threads here :) (to me it looks like that the # of mails on -community
list has went down a lot).

But however, it's Openmoko Inc who makes the decisions.

Yes it's a openmoko community list so both products can be discussed. Stric=
tly speaking you're 100% correct. However=2C it would make a lot more sense=
to have separate lists for the FR and the WikiReader.
=20
- Not everybody interested in the FR is also interested in the Wikireader a=

My suggestion would be to set up a separate list (either for FR or Wikiread=

No, you are wrong.

http://wiki.openmoko.org/wiki/Main_Page says:

Openmoko is a project dedicated to delivering mobile phones with an open
source software stack. Openmoko is currently selling the Neo FreeRunner
phone to advanced users and will start selling it to the general public
as soon as the software is more developed

The WikiReader is no mobile phone.

Btw: the FR would allow to install Wikipedia on it. This would have todo
with our mailimng list.
