Webshop reopen

2008-09-17 Thread Harry
Dear All,

Thanks for your continuous support!

Our first shipment was sold out much more quickly than we had expected.
After so long our second shipment has finally arrived to the States, and today
our webshop is officially reopen!

With all your support, we are hoping to renew our selling record!

Freerunner is running again

OK. I'm finally at home again (I've been traveling for work) and got a
chance to play around to test it. It turns out it wasn't my router
configuration, it was my browser configuration.

The payment site is verifying the Referer header and my browser was not
sending that header. The off-network computer I tried was configured to
send the Referer, so it worked on that one. I could have sworn I had
tested that when I was trying to buy initially (as many websites are
broken^H^H^H^H^H^Hconfigured to require a specific Referer value, so I
usually remember to check).

/me wonders if he should mention the futility of using /any/
client-side-generated data for security purposes... I guess, though,
that's not Openmoko's problem, but Hi Trust's.

As I really wanted to get the phone, I didn't mess around with NAT

I really hope their web site recognizes that internal networks exist, too...

Brian, and others in the Bay Area,

The Fremont facility is not at all set up to do this. However, Steve is
doing everything he can to figure out a way to do this in spite of this
fact.

Give him a little time - he's deeply involved in trying to keep the
ordering and shipping running smoothly.

i can assure you that this is not the case.
in all cases we had this error it was the sending bank blocking the

It's actually even more absurd; FIC's factory is in suzhou
(practically a suburb of shanghai). A freerunner bought from a
european reseller would return literally within 200km of where it
began and needlessly travel well more than halfway around the world.

It's wonderfully stupid.

Re: Openmoko Webshop Reopen NOW!!!

2008-07-03 Thread Jeffrey Malone
The phone is a tri-band phone using the 1900 and 1800 bands. The third band
is either 900 or 850. T-Mobile doesn't use either 900 or 850 in the US --
however, other US GSM providers do use 850.
In certain locations, T-Mobile allows roaming onto these 850 networks, so it
can increase your coverage. Refer to T-Mobile's signal checker on their
website, which will identify 850 roaming zones with a different colour.
850 is also advantageous in so much that even if you cannot roam onto it,
you can still use it to make 911 calls during an emergency.

The 850 band will however reduce your international roaming capabilities,
but 1800 is still generally available in most western countries.

So yes, either the 900 or 850 will work fine on T-Mobile US, but the 850 is
preferred for those in the US.

Brad,

The FR is a tri-band GSM phone which means it works on all 850/1800/1900
frequency networks. To my knowledge US carriers don't use the 900 mhz
band, so the 850mhz model FR (which also includes 1800 and 1900 mhz)
will work with any US carrier.

I really want to get one so badly but I'm afraid of getting the wrong
GSM frequency. I live in Oregon, USA and use T-Mobile. Can anyone
advise? I looked at the website suggested in the store and it says
T-Mobile uses GSM 1900. Does that mean I can't use any FreeRunner?
Thanks,
Brad

The 850 model is 850/1800/1900 and works fine on TMobile (I've been
using a freerunner for a few months now during testing)

The freerunner uses 850, something, and 1900. It should work fine for you.
Sorry for short message, I'm at work...

You mean freerunner uses something, 1800 and 1900. That something
being 850 or 900.

The gateway error basically means your card was denied and your bank may have
red flagged the transaction. Just a call to your bank to authorize the

Pretty sure that's not the only case, as I'm getting a Gateway Error
500 before I even get a chance to enter my credit card info--i.e. when
it says, Forwarding you to Hi_Trust...

Full text of the message is: Error from the Hi Trust gateway: TrustLink
Server is closed. Or Merchant Server IP is not consistent with TrustLink
Server setting.
