one should probably ask on the fso-list what's the differen'ce between om and fso kernels is -- the subject seems not to be appealing to the fso guys reading this list ... ___ Openmoko community mailing list community@lists.openmoko.org http://lists.openmoko.org/mailman/listinfo/community
Re: Where to get recent kernel and modules for debian now?
In which mailing list or forum could i reach fso developer to ask them about this problem? I searched on www.freesmartphone.org and only found the list on http://projects.linuxtogo.org/pipermail/smartphones-standards/. Is this the right list or is there a more apropriate list for this kind of questions for fso? Even the debian installer script still uses the old kernel and modules from http://downloads.openmoko.org/framework/milestone2/ which is from 30. july. And i can see that in the latest kernels after around 4. september the sd-card corruption problem seems to be fixed by a patch. So it would be nice if somewhere the corresponding modules to the latest kernels where available. :) I'm currently using the om2008.8 kernel+all of the kernel-module packages from testing which gets upgraded through the default om2008.8-testing opkg-feed. As far as I am aware these instructions should be the same for the stable version as well. If you copy the /boot/uImage and the corresponding modules in /lib/modules/2.6.24 to the same folder in your debian installation everything should be fine. At the end you may want to run 'depmod -a' for the module dependencies. Don't forget to add the 'g_ether' and 'usbnet' (not completely sure about that one) modules to '/etc/modules' to enable USB-networking. Good luck. And now i got the kernel from today running and it seems to work. does suspending by holding pwr for about 4 secs still work? i tried a kernel+module-tarball about two weeks ago and at least suspending that way stopped to work -- so i switched back to the installation kernel+modules. ___ Openmoko community mailing list community@lists.openmoko.org http://lists.openmoko.org/mailman/listinfo/community
Re: Where to get recent kernel and modules for debian now?
I tested it and suspend doesn't work anymore with the new kernel. Maybe i have to insmod some module for this to work. When i look at the zhone.log file i can see that the press of the pwr button is recognized, but nothing more happens. :/ Ciao, Rainer arne anka wrote: And now i got the kernel from today running and it seems to work. does suspending by holding pwr for about 4 secs still work? i tried a kernel+module-tarball about two weeks ago and at least suspending that way stopped to work -- so i switched back to the installation kernel+modules. ___ Openmoko community mailing list community@lists.openmoko.org http://lists.openmoko.org/mailman/listinfo/community ___ Openmoko community mailing list community@lists.openmoko.org http://lists.openmoko.org/mailman/listinfo/community
