Re: good bye google code

2009-07-23 Thread mqy

Yesterday I suffered almost same problem, also can't connect to apache.org.
I asked friends for help, strange that they can connect.

I suspect that it must be caused by some local problems. After adjust DNS
settings restart notebook,
problems disappeared. The notebook connects to internet through a TPLINK
router (model:Tl-r402M)
which connects to ADSL box.

So, I'm really sorry, I apologize. At least it is my local problem,
irrelevant to google or some firewalls.

Anyway, I like google, and feel sorry and even angry whenever they suffer by
some secret reasons
I don't agree with.

mqy, 20090723

This is not due to Google... it's a china problem... Ask your government
 to
not put many filtering equipments and routers, and latency will be better
 :)

You can. I have done - you just have to go in with the shell - or ask
 them to do it.
That case they had to change their policy. It was written explicitly in
some agreement that they are allowed to keep this code even if you do
not want this.

If your code is released under an open source license, _anyone_ can
keep it even if you don't want them to. By applying a FLOSS license to
your code, you gave everyone in the world that right.

Would you please avoid registering your new projects to google code?
You might want to try http://launchpad.net . it is free also and allow
you to delete your code if you do not like it or make a mistake.
Sourceforge doesn't allow to delete code :(

Re: good bye google code

2009-07-20 Thread mqy

From launchpad web site: Launchpad is a unique collaboration and Bazaar code
hosting platform for software projects.

Another VCS! Thanks for the tip, I prefer github for now :)

I'm using eclipse, CVS and SVN are well supported, whereas git plugin does
not fully function.
With github.com, I can use git command, plus gitk program.

BTW, it seems projects.openmoko.org runs a outdated program, at least needs
further maintenance.
It does not allow deleting a project by project admin, even if the project
is empty.

And sourceforge.net is dressed up like a young girl :D

regards,
  mqy

This is a design philosophy and I agree with sourceforge on principle
you should never delete code there are better ways to fix such
mistakes.
You can always get older code at a know good point and resubmit it as new.

I don't think the abnormal cases were caused by just latency.

good bye google code

2009-07-17 Thread mqy

Dear all:

I feel very bad.
It took me hours to submit 2 files to google code. This is the second bad
day since omgps was registered to google code two months ago. Google search
and gmail sucks too, at least from Beijing.

I just registered omgps to projects.openmoko.org. Can't use sourceforge.net
because it connects to google analytics.

Would you please avoid registering your new projects to google code?

thanks,
 mqy
