Re: Quark 3.2 on SE30
Marten van de Kraats [EMAIL PROTECTED] Replied: Quark 3.2 not working on a SE/30? How odd. About five or six years ago I ran a copy of Quark 3.31 on a SE/30. I even remember running a copy of that program on a Classic (my very first Mac!) about 9 years ago... The SE/30 had system 6 installed, the Classic probably system 7.1 (I had not seen the light yet back then). I remember it took forever to print the document I created with the Classic on my HP Deskwriter... Marten I agree Marten, my version of Quark (3.3.2) includes Power in the name. I used 3.3.1 on compact macs in graphic arts school in early nineties too. I'm inclined to ask on the swap list for an earlier version. Thank you for the kind responses. Re: Quark 3.2 on SE30
J.S. Garrison [EMAIL PROTECTED] Jeff replied: It's from 1996, so I'd guess it may not be able to work on a screen of that type and size, or an issue with those old ROMS. Go thru a readme or three from the program itself and see what limits you find to use on aged hardware. Thanks Jeff, I've been reading documentation and picked up the answer from an Adobe Dimensions installation that Quark 3.1.1 is FAT, (what I'm looking for). Stripping the PPC code from QXP version 3.2 didn't work. (I ran it through I Love Native.) I did load Photoshop 3 today on the SE30 and it's behaving well. I don't need colour since the measurements tool gives me what I want to know. I guess that leaves the French QXP v.2.1.1. Thanks for your help. Quark 3.2 on SE30
Has anybody got Quark 3.2 to run on an SE30. My splash screen comes and the menu bar appears then I get a white horizontal window with no borders and the cursor/clock appears, then nothing. Force quiting pops up the dialogue window but I have to do a hard re-boot to recover. Will disabling some features get this version to run? I tried assigning more application ram but that didn't help. My SE30 is maxed at about 130MB of ram and has a 1.2 Gig hard drive operating on OS7.5/ Thanks for any and all insights. SE/30 RAM upgrade and 128MB
Steve Fuller wrote: I maxed mine out a couple of months ago without any major issues. I had some minor issues with clearance between the SE/30 frame, and the tops of the SIMMS, but that was fixed w/o incident. How did you fix the clearance incident? I have 4x16MB simms sitting idle because the simms are slightly too tall. Thanks, Roman -- Compact Macs is sponsored by http://lowendmac.com/. I suspect that may be your problem. Classic is not OS9. It's an emulater. I may be wrong, but from the reading I've done, it's my understanding. Dual Purpose, video/ethernet, SE30
Hello Group, I followed this topic with interest a few weeks ago but am still hazy on whether or not such a card exists for the PDS slot of a SE/30. Is the Asante MacCon a dual purpose card? If not, what is the hardware hack to accomodate ethernet and an extra external monitor for the SE/30? Thanks, Roman -- Compact Macs is sponsored by http://lowendmac.com/. Dayna driver
Marten van de Kraats [EMAIL PROTECTED] wrote: I think you can find the latest versions of dayna drivers on the intel site. Thank you Marten. Yes indeed. Intel's http site does offer downloads of the Dayna drivers but the files don't arrive in any usable shape. For anyone else needing this software or for those on the list that have the http links to DaynaPORT drivers should navigate to the ftp site. ftp://download.intel.com/support/dayna/. The DaynaPORT 7.7.2 driver installs and seems to work on an SE/30 running OS7.5. Trying to update to version 7.5.5 of the OS crashed the mac. Dayna driver
Hello List, This is my first post to this list, 'though I've been following the digests for some time. My SE30 recognizes a Dayna 3 component ethernet card and lights up the hardware when I'm running system 7.5 but I can't seem to select ethertalk in the Network control panel. Does anyone have a working link to the Dayna Mac driver I may need or advice on connecting my SE30 to a PPC7500 via ethernet, either thru a D-link 5 port Hubby or straight thru. I'd rather include the hub 'cause I'd like a LAN that includes a Newton and PB5300. Thank you for the time and advice I may receive.
