Switching between users works perfectly well in Ubuntu 12.10. I tested both the guest-account and a second user account, and fast-user-switching from the applet works well. The display flashes couple of time due to mode change, but the up-coming Wayland display manager will fix that too. Public bug reported: I tried the new compiz-cms plugin for color management by Gabriel Ebner on ubuntu 12.10, both regular ubuntu and 'kubuntu' version. I installed both systems in virtualbox starting from the live cd iso. (I still have 12.04 on my laptop). Then installed the plugin from ppa:gebner/compiz- cms. On regular ubuntu 12.10 it seems to work fine. On kubuntu 12.10 I first installed compiz, the plugin and ccsm. I did compiz --replace from within kde. Compiz starts fine (though the decorations are turned of in ccsm per default, not handy). But when I activate the compiz-csm plugin, the screen turns black. I do still see a cursor, changing into a | when it sits on a terminial so I could change back to kwin by blindly typing kwin --replace. I have an issue that appears related, but on AMD/ATI. If I configure xorg with multiple X screens as I have in the past on 11.04, the session ends up starting metacity instead of compiz (it uses compiz when there is only a single X screen). In the past, I had to tweak the session to start compiz on :0.1 and everything was fine. Also, every time I login, additional panels are created (described http://askubuntu.com/questions/138393/when-starting-or-log-off-on-addl- panels-show-and-some-panel-applets-are-duplic ). I don't get a white screen on computer unlock, but I frequently do get the contents of a window painted completely white on unminimize. Hi. It is not an issue for me anymore because I'm using a different computer with ATI graphics now. I'm using Kubuntu 12.04. @Daniel: The user never touches the super key in the scenarios we care most about; the user only presses the display switch hotkeys on the laptop. Maybe this is not relevant, and reducing the timeout in Unity will still help. It seems like an important detail though. I can confirm that this also happens in virtualox. Hmm, a complete display freeze sounds like a missing XFlush. I don't think it would be a missing glFlush because that's done implicitly when we swap buffers... Unless you have changed your Compiz OpenGL plugin settings? Regardless, please log a new bug for the display freeze. Steve, Fn+F1 on Dells actually sends Super+P. However I don't know if some models send it as a quick Super+P tap or the virtual keys are held for the duration of Fn+F1. But the point is that Fn+something is not a real key. It maps either directly to some hardware feature or to some other real combo like Super+P. You may well get a quick tap of Super+P when Fn+F1 is pressed. The two features we have for avoiding false taps are: 1. Reliable tap detection in Compiz. This has to be turned off in order to fix this bug :( 2. Key press timing in Unity. If Super is down too long then ignore it. Oh dear. That's a bigger problem than expected. We would have to rewrite parts of gtk-window-decorator to not use GdkDrawable any more (because it doesn't exist in GTK 3).
