[Compiz] [Bug 1178098] [NEW] compiz crashed with SIGSEGV in nux::WindowCompositor::SetKeyFocusArea()

2013-05-09 Thread Edward Donovan
Public bug reported:

Not sure if I should go ahead and change this to a nux bug, instead of
compiz, from the stacktrace. But I'm sure those who know better will
sort that out easily.

I opened the dash, via the keyboard, then opened a preview of a file,
also via the keyboard (the menu key). I wanted to open the folder the
file was in, rather than the file directly. So in the preview, I tried
to keyboard-navigate to do that. I tried a few keys, like Tab and
Shift-Tab. I can't recall what key I hit first; I couldn't tell for
several seconds that compiz had locked up, and I was trying a few
different keys.

I haven't tried reproducing yet, 'cause I've barely got time to write
this up; no time to trigger another crash.

(An aside: I know compiz will be supported in LTS releases for a while,
but still I'm not sure how much attention may go to compiz issues, now
that it's deprecated for a future of Mir. Any comment on bugs like
this, in general, is welcome.)

Thanks!

[Compiz] [Bug 1178157] [NEW] Compiz crashes when HDMI monitor changes power state

2013-05-09 Thread Leo Crawford
Public bug reported:

I have a dual monitor setup with one HDMI and one DVI monitor plugged
directly into my on-board graphics card. When the HDMI monitor is
switched off manually, or by power-saving I frequently (but not always)
get a crash. This doesn't happen with the DVI monitor.

I am using ubuntu 13.04 (fresh install) although I did copy my home directory
over from 12.10.
Compiz is at version 1:0.9.9~daily13.04.18.1~13.04-0ubuntu1.

Graphics card and driver details:

01:05.0 VGA compatible controller: Advanced Micro Devices [AMD] nee ATI RS880
[Radeon HD 4290] (prog-if 00 [VGA controller])
Subsystem: ASUSTeK Computer Inc. Device 8454
Flags: bus master, fast devsel, latency 0, IRQ 18
Memory at d000 (32-bit, prefetchable) [size=256M]

Memory at fe6f (32-bit, non-prefetchable) [size=64K]
Memory at fe50 (32-bit, non-prefetchable) [size=1M]
Expansion ROM at unassigned [disabled]
Capabilities: access denied
Kernel driver in use: radeon

This problem did not occur on by 11.04, 11.10, 12.04 or 12.10 setups
which had the same hardware, and same radeon driver.

[Compiz] [Bug 1178098] Re: compiz crashed with SIGSEGV in nux::WindowCompositor::SetKeyFocusArea()

2013-05-09 Thread Sami Jaktholm
Confirming. To reproduce:
1. Open a preview
2. Press Shift-Tab
3. Crash

The crash might occur at the first try or it might take few presses
(seems to depend on the amount of buttons in the preview). Also app
previews don't crash when Shift-Tab is pressed but the functionality
(move focus to previous button) is broken...

Marking this as an Unity bug for now...

[Compiz] [Bug 622965] Re: New windows always use active window's layout

2013-05-09 Thread terriblechild
I'm experiencing the same issue since couple of releases. I'm now using
13.04 with Unity and it's the same. Giving that English is not the only
language most of the people use, it's affecting many users. Should you
require any information, let me know and I'll try to help resolving that
issue, as it's very annoying.

[Compiz] [Bug 1174461] Re: Error after installing compiz 0.9.9 - /usr/lib/compizconfig/backends/libgconf.so: cannot open shared object

2013-05-09 Thread Sam Spilsbury
Looks like we're not shipping the gconf backend anymore in compiz-gnome
- we'll just need to change over to gsettings there.

[Compiz] [Bug 1174461] Re: Error after installing compiz 0.9.9 - /usr/lib/compizconfig/backends/libgconf.so: cannot open shared object

2013-05-09 Thread Sam Spilsbury
Actually, it appears as though the default is to use the gsettings
backend. So if it is complaining about a missing gconf backend then you
likely just need to remove any local configuration that would have made
it used that (now that it is removed by default).

rm -rf ~/.config/compiz-1
