[Compiz] [Bug 1311303] Re: Compiz mouse functions mapped to horizontal scrolling buttons do not work

2014-04-25 Thread dominus_sapiens
I thought it might have been Gtk related; very many thanks for working
on a fix.

I notice now that horizontal scrolling inside windows is behaving
better, but as you say, if someone is going to map functions themselves,
they probably want those functions to take precedence.

[Compiz] [Bug 1311303] Re: Unable to switch desktops using compiz mouse functions

2014-04-25 Thread Christopher Townsend
Thanks for the additional info. This is due to a fairly recent change I
put in to make scrolling in unfocused Gtk window work. I was a little
too heavy handed on horizontal scrolling, ie, buttons 6 & 7.

I don't think horizontal scrolling is used too much and besides, if
someone explicitly maps those buttons to Compiz functions, then they
shouldn't expect horizontal scrolling in windows to work any more.

I'll work on a fix and hopefully get it landed in an upcoming Compiz SRU
for 14.04

[Compiz] [Bug 1311303] Re: Unable to switch desktops using compiz mouse functions

2014-04-25 Thread dominus_sapiens
Thanks for getting in touch.

I'm using buttons 6 and 7, which on my mouse are on the sides of the
scroll wheel. This is without any keyboard modifiers.

Using keyboard shortcuts to do the same thing (ctrl+alt+left/right)
works as expected whether a window is focussed or not.

There's something odd I discovered today while testing things a bit
more: it works as expected when the window is minimised, but the problem
occurs again where the window is maximised or when it is minimised and
snapped to the top left corner. This is rather bizarre, and I wonder
whether it may have something to do with the way windows are handled in
14.04.

The problem also occurs when there are no active windows and the desktop
is not focussed, but since keyboard shortcuts also fail to work in this
situation, I suspect this is a different bug.

I have updated the bug description accordingly.

** Description changed:

Running Ubuntu 14.04 and compiz 0.9.11.

Upon upgrading to 14.04 I can no longer use mouse buttons to switch
between desktops in the Desktop Wall when a window is focussed. It works
- as expected when using keyboard functions, or when no window is
+ as expected when using keyboard functions, or when the desktop is
  focussed.

gnome-session-flashback (Flashback (No Effects)) which runs with Metacity
works fine.
gnome-session-flashback (Flashback) which runs with Compiz starts Unity
instead.

It works very well with Metacity, but if you use Compiz, then you get a
conflict with Unity. That is; you get both Unity and Gnome Panel running
  at the same time.

  [Test Case]

  (1) make sure both the gnome-session-flashback and the ubuntu-session
packages are

+ installed
  (2) at the lightdm prompt, select the guest session using the GNOME Flashback

  (3) you should not see the Unity Launcher

  [Regression Potential]

Because this change involves Compiz confiurations, it has the potential
to lose or modify those data in unexpected or undesirable ways.
Recovery from such a situation involves manually resetting those
  configurations.

Note: the workaround for install compiz and using ccsm works, but it

I tried switching to gnome-metacity, and then the command before from dima-tr

string "Tab"" worked for me instantly.
However, super-D for minimize all stopped working... I wonder what else...

[Compiz] [Bug 1312375] [NEW] Problem with resizing borderless windows that are located against the screen border

2014-04-25 Thread Launchpad Bug Tracker
You have been subscribed to a public bug:

Apparently the invisible draggable area which you can use to resize a
window is located outside the window.

Now that all windows are borderless, when I auto-resize a window to the
left part of the screen (by dragging it to the left border of the
screen) I can no longer grab the left, top and bottom border for
resizing afterwards (the resize arrows do not appear). I suppose that,
when the border was 1 pixel wide, there was always the possibility to
grab the border in order to resize the window.

Maybe there should be a small (even 1 pixel could make a difference)
invisible draggable area inside the window too? I suppose there is no
such draggable area inside the window at the moment so as not to
interfere with the interior of the window (the scroll bars for example)?
Or is there another reason?

** Affects: compiz (Ubuntu)
 Importance: Undecided
 Status: New

[Compiz] [Bug 971051] Re: No Alt+Tab in gnome classic session (switcher plugin not loaded)

2014-04-25 Thread Avi Marcus
Confirming this bug in fresh 14.04 using gnome-panel/compiz. The
shortcut was unset and when I tried resetting to alt-tab, super-alt-tab,
super J, none of them worked.

[Compiz] [Bug 1305327] Re: Always in visible workspace does not work

2014-04-25 Thread Zed
Workaround:

Open up CompizConfig Settings Manager (ccsm). Go to the 'Workarounds'
section -> Window stickyness (bottom of General Tab). Select/enable the
checkbox next to 'Make "on all desktops" windows "sticky"'.
