Bug misfiled, would've been useful to know about it a month ago :/ If you are able to build the package from ppa:ubuntu-x-swat/updates then that would be great. On 16.04.3 I used Synaptic to narrow down the packages that seem to cause the crash. I installed packages, made not of them and rebooted to see if I could reproduce the problem. The last four packages that were left over before the issue could be reproduced were: libegl1-mesa 17.2.4-0ubuntu1~16.04.2 libgbm1 17.2.4-0ubuntu1~16.04.2 libgl1-mesa-dri 17.2.4-0ubuntu1~16.04.2 libwayland-egl1-mesa 17.2.4-0ubuntu1~16.04.2 These depend on each other, so I could not drill down further. I have almost the same behavior with 16.04.3. It doesn't log me out but restarts Unity. Freshly installed 16.04.3 runs normally. After installing updates Unity crashes exactly like in the OP. Same compiz segfault at 0 ip (...) error 4 in i965_dri.so (...) with slightly different addresses. In low graphics mode it is a bit better but not completely gone.
