So would  using a refurb/generic void the warranty?  Can't find mine.

Merely using an ink or toner not made by the manufacturer of the
printer will not void any warranty. However, if said cartridge, toner
or ink, were to leak and damage the printer because of a defect in
that cartridge, it could well be that free repair or replacement of
the printer, if it is still under warranty, could be in jeopardy.

In that case, what you want is the Skype To Go feature. Either

The number they provide is a US number so I can access Skype from a US
phone without being at a computer. That's good.

For I moment I was getting excited that I could get a number in a
foreign country so people could call us cheaply. That is available in
a handful of countries, but not Italy.

Digging around some more I also discovered that the flat rate plan
only applies to calls to landline phones, can't call cell phones.
That's an unhappy restriction because so many Europeans have given up
on landline phones. They take all their call on cell.

From what I have read Google Voice offers a whole lot more and a

Officially, Google Voice is still available by invitation only, and I
can tell why. It doesn't work consistently. I managed to get five
invitations -- one for each member of my family. But they complain
consistently about various problems they have encountered with Google
Voice and have begged to stop using it. The last time I looked there
were 1.5 million registered Google Voice accounts, but only 580,000
active users. The majority of registered users aren't using it.

It would be interesting to see what other users think of it. I activated
two accounts just in the last week or so but have not used them. I know
half a dozen people who use google voice and have not had any problems with
it. I don't doubt his problems, I don't think google voice is ready for
primetime but I wouldn't discount it too much.

The best feature is having every phone on a list ring when the google voice
number gets a call.

That's 99 bux at fry's electronics, anyone have opinions? Any reason NOT to
jump on this at that price? Replacing a tired one my wife uses almost
exclusively for school. Any thoughts appreciated.
