[CGUYS] iPad exceed radiation limits
The iPad, as currently configured, exceeds the RF radiation limits for most European countries and for Israel. Israel is already banning them from sale there and will not allow them to be brought into the country by travelers. FCC standards, which the iPad apparently complies with, allow for much higher radiation levels that most other countries allow. Who knows why Apple didn't decide to comply with the standards of other countries, especially since it is a mobile device. Apple went through this with the iPhone already, and I believe they kinda got away with it for the most part from what I understand. Maybe israel and other countries are deciding that once is enough, and they perceive that Apple is pushing the envelope this time around, so to speak, and either are tightening up or thinking about tightening up about enforcing their rules regarding RF radiation levels. Cupertino, we have a problem! Steve * ** List info, subscription management, list rules, archives, privacy ** ** policy, calmness, a member map, and more at http://www.cguys.org/ ** *

Re: [CGUYS] Need Internet Radio Recommendations

At home I still use an FM transmitter connected to my iMac. It's a stereo transmitter for cars that I plugged into a DC/AC adapter. It transmits in stereo to any FM radio within around 150 feet. The sound is as good as the radio that receives the transmission. Only downside is that I have to go back to my computer to "change stations". I have dozens of my favorite stations' streams bookmarked, and also use streaming services for multiple stations. For travel, I have a battery charged Arkon Soundfeeder to broadcast stations in stereo from my iPod Touch which also has several apps that play Internet radio stations. When the tabletop Internet radios are more affordable, I may consider one, but the iPod [and iMac or MacBook] does a good job for some of my favorite stations, using FM transmitters instead of dedicated radios. There are even some streams that can run in a browser on the iPod, with links at http://www.tuned.mobi/. Might reconsider when Internet radio is standard equipment in my next MINI.
