Re: [CGUYS] A Computer Question ... Horrors!
Safari does use site-specific hacks that you can turn off or on under the Develop menu (which you can show or hide in the advanced preferences). Is it possible that you have these hacks turned off? If not, can you give us an example of a site that Safari doesn't render very well? I view a fairly wide variety of websites, and I really don't remember seeing any that don't render properly with Safari 4. From:b_s-wilk Safari tries so hard to be W3C compatible that it doesn't take into account that most web sites, big and small, are not. I'm getting tired of XML not working right. It's annoying. Safari should be written to take into consideration all of the billions of exceptions, instead of the few W3C compatible sites. Not enough pref choices either. Opera is better. (wunderground.com) For years I've had 1 browser on my computer dedicated to showing the 5+ tabs I have open all the time. I love the Mozilla browsers but most of the tabs I have open are continually updated and, over a period of time, the browser will require more and more cpu cycles, and I'll have to shut it down. Safari uses a minimum of power to display these very active tabs, and displays them properly. Nice! * ** List info, subscription management, list rules, archives, privacy ** ** policy, calmness, a member map, and more at http://www.cguys.org/ ** *

Anarchy on the Web is not a good thing. Poorly coded web sites should not be given a free ride. The junk code generated by various M$ products holds everybody back. It is a huge waste of time that would be better spend on improving the browsers. I'm getting tired of XML not working right. I'm just tired of XML. It was a bad idea. Re: [CGUYS] A Computer Question ... Horrors!
Safari sucks. Use Firefox or SeaMonkey. I've have MacBookPro Ver 1.1 about 3½ years old. A friend just got a current gen 17" MPB. I still use a Vista machine that has a hardware printer. On my bank's website, a print request generates a *.aspx file for "open with application" or "save file as" dialog when using Firefox on both MBPs. On my Vista box (using Firefox or Chrome) and when either MBP uses Safari, the bank site brings up the preferred print/save as PDF dialog. Can anyone suggest how to modify FF's behavior on the MBP's to access the same dialog? * ** List info, subscription management, list rules, archives, privacy ** ** policy, calmness, a member map, and more at http://www.cguys.org/ ** *

ASP means it is an bletcherous M$ site full of buglets like this one. Try changing the file extension to .pdf and see if you can open and print in via Preview. Works for me. YMMV. * ** List info, subscription management, list rules, archives, privacy ** ** policy, calmness, a member map, and more at http://www.cguys.org/ ** *
