Well...I wonder if this would be avoided by a clean install of ie8b to a
separate directory... I use ie so infrequently, I want some other guinea pig
to tell me if that works... Richard... You up for it?

Problem solved! I was able to use the Microsoft's IE8 Beta free phone
support to resolve this problem. MS determined that the IE7 program was
corrupted after uninstalling IE8 Beta. I had to do a manual uninstall of the
corrupted IE7 and then upgrade it back up from IE6 to IE7. It is now working
properly.

After uninstalling IE8, IE7 does not show any tabs so I'm unable to
right-click to the right of the current page tab. The only thing it
shows is a links toolbar, but right-clicking on that provides no
options. I also have a title bar and an address bar but right-clicking
on those provides no usable options. Again, before installing IE8
Beta, there were no issues with IE7.

 Any other ideas?

I uninstalled IE 8 which left IE 7
already installed but IE 7 didn't have any toolbars, nor any way to
 display them.

 This works for me:

In I.E.7, right click anywhere in the empty space to the right of the
current page tab. A basic toolbar automagically appears then.

[CGUYS] IE 8 Beta

2008-11-10 Thread Richard P.
I tried to run Windows Office Update in IE 8 Beta and got a warning
screen indicating that Internet Explorer version 5.5 or later is
required for this operation. I uninstalled IE 8 which left IE 7
already installed but IE 7 didn't have any toolbars, nor any way to
display them. Prior to IE8, the toolbars were OK in IE 7. I ended up
having to restore back to IE 8 to get it functional again. Any ideas
on how to get back to a fully functioning copy of IE 7? Downloading IE
7 and reinstalling made no difference.

Win XP SP3

Thanks in advance,

Richard P.

Press f11? I think?

I installed an add on from my publishing company and the same thing
happened to me.

I think it's a little more complicated than that if you are suggesting
the help file. The actual icon which allows one to access and check
toolbars to be displayed is not even on the browser. There's nothing I
can even right click to get a menu bar to show.

Make sure you haven't gotten into a condition with an oversize window, in
which the title bar and toolbars are off screen. Press Alt-Spacebar to
activate the Control Menu and resize/move the window such that all of the
borders of the window are visible, i.e., you can see desktop around the outside
of the window.
