Re: Network state is ready instead of online after getting a DHCP address

2015-02-15 Thread Tomasz Bursztyka

Hi,

The online is found while checking for internet connectivity. The
issue is it's

done right away after ConnMan gets the ip/dns/routes configured.
At this exact moment, the network might not be fully ready, for some
reasons.

We are talking of micro-seconds here.
On the other end, the network infrastructure behind the connection might
not be ready
itself (for instance in nating is used, and the nat rule has not been
established yet etc...)
And also, if the distant servers which are used to check the
connectivity are down (very

rare though).

So as you can see, it's not bullet proof. Thus you should not assume
too much about this

state. ready might just be totally fine as well.

As long as you are in state ready, you should assume the network
connectivity is fine.

Network state is ready instead of online after getting a DHCP address

2015-02-13 Thread Boszormenyi Zoltan
Hi,

how is $SUBJECT possible? On two different ZOTAC Mini-PCs
(both ZBOXNANO-AQ01) this happened twice in the last
two weeks for me while using a Yocto-based system with connman.

The solution was to snap the Ethernet plug firmly into place
after which the network state became online immediately.

But again, the machine was network-accessible, it got IP address
via DHCP but e.g. /usr/lib/connman/test/get-state said System is ready
instead of System is online as usual.

Does anyone has an idea why this might happen?

Thanks in advance,
Zoltán Böszörményi
