[CnD] Could use some advice.

2018-05-27 Thread Ron Kolesar via Cookinginthedark

Hi to all.
I have some chick drum sticks and thies and some pork chops.
Should I use?
The lower rack or the upper rack?
I had someone read to me the cardboard quick guide getting started guide and
I have the different meats and their times and temperatures if anyone would
want them.

But the guide recommends the following:
pork chops 3 inches fresh 5 to 6 minutes per side 145 dgs
chicken bone in 3 inch piece 165 dgs 13 to 14 per side
Burgers 1/2 inch
Fresh 160 dgs 5 to 7 minutes per side
frozen 8 to 9 minutes per side
I've done a fair soft pretzel and with the low rack at the high default
temperature if I remember correctly is 350 dg's for 5 minutes you can't go
wrong.
Also, I know I need to pick up a mean thermometer, but I haven't been
flipping my meats.

I've been just doubling the time and leaving it on one side.
The hot dogs are great at normal high temperature for ten minutes.
So many thanks for someone who's still learning
1. how to cook
2. how to cook with the nuwave oven which is great.
But I have two braille labels that needs to be replaced.

Re: [CnD] OVEN ROASTED VEGETABLES

2018-05-27 Thread Pamela Fairchild via Cookinginthedark
I find that the pre cut vegetables usually don't have much flavor so avoid
them. I also like buying some things organic, so cutting is mandatory there. I
especially like organic carrots, the bigger ones. I find it really hard to get
good flavored baby carrots even organic ones.

I haven't found many good ways as of yet so I would be interested. I am finding
more stores selling stuff already cut up and so I buy a lot of that.

Welcome to the list. I would recommend looking at the blind mice mart for the
item that you want. they usually have a wide variety of cooking accessories.
Hope that you like the list. mike

Subject: [CnD] New to this list and looking for a candy thermometer that I can
clip onto the side of my pan

Hello all,

I just joined this list and I’m excited to be here.
I am looking for candy thermometer that I can clip onto the side of my pan so
that I can make all the wonderful delicious bad for you candies that I grew up
with. I have a couple other talking thermometers that are great, but they are
the probe kind that you stick in and pull back out. I would like something I
can clip onto the side of my pan, or a holder I can get to hold one that I have
on to the side of my pan. What are some recommendations for a thermometer of
this kind?

Thank you,

Beth
