 Hello Listers,

Does anyone have a recommendation on someone who does genealogy tours in county
Tyrone? I will be going on my first trip there and it might be nice to have
someone who can show us around. We would be in the Omagh/Castlederg area.

Thank you for any information,

I had to chuckle at this one entry. It's interesting how the Irish back in the
day loved to be very old when they died!!"John Woods, an industrious farmer at
the advanced age of 122 years. He lives a regular and sober life."

 Hello
Having just returned from NI I would like to make two suggestions that helped
us greatly.
1. Vincent Brogan of Tyrone Roots helped us with research before we arrived. We
emailed many times prior to our arrival. He took us on a tour of ancestral
laces we never would have seen on our own. I highly recommend his services.
2. The Mellon Library in Omagh at the Ulster American Folk Park has two lovely
women who will help you find anything you need. You can walk in during hours or
call for an appointment.

There are also some books at the library that have manifests printed.  I found
my family on the jj cooke line (much later) on the Barque Mary Campbell.  The
book was at the LDS library in Utah.Bonnie

 Hi David,
Look at the freepages on ulsterancestry.com Other useful sites are

It was much later in the 19th century before ships had provide passenger

Subject: [CoTyroneMailingList] Londonderry Ship Manifests Hello,
Two of my County Tyrone Irish relatives sailed from Londonderry to America.
John McDevitt left in May 1816 and sailed into New York City.  While Alexander
Gallagher and his wife, Mary McDevitt Gallagher, left in July 1820 and sailed
into Philadelphia.
Is there any chance of determining the name of the ships they sailed on, why
they left or who paid their passage?

Hello Listers -
First, thanks so much for your continued support!  Without YOU there is no CTI!
Over the last several years as smartphone and tablet use has continued to grow,
CTI receives about 50% of its usage from those users. Therefore, this means CTI
MUST move to what is called a responsive design to handle all the various
screen sizes. So, a few weeks ago, we hired a programmer to design software to
enable converting the existing format.
However, doing so is extremely labour intensive as each page must be opened and
converted one by one. Therefore, this task will take a long time as we cannot
allow the adding of new content nor the Every Name Index to suffer.
This is an example of the new look -
