[courier-users] dot-courier question
I need to setup dot-courier file to get mailman to work properly. There are different addresses for the different functions to be performed. My question is how to name the .courier file(s). If the email address is [EMAIL PROTECTED], what should be the name of the .courier file and can there be more than one file? Right now I have a .courier file setup in the home directory for the list but no matter what address I send to it seems to just be doing what it says in the .courier file. --- This SF.Net email is sponsored by BEA Weblogic Workshop FREE Java Enterprise J2EE developer tools! [courier-users] problem getting mailman working with courier + LDAP
I am hoping someone can provide some insight as to what the issue might be and how to correct it. I tried the mailman group but had no luck. My original post to mailman group. I have a Solaris 9 sparc box running Courier for pop3 using mail directories and LDAP being used as the authentication method. I have installed Python 2.3.4 and MailMan 2.1.5. I have modified the install for MailMan from usr/local to /home but other than that everything else is the default installation. The issue I am having is that all mail that gets sent to any of the mail list addresses gets deferred. If I go to the web interface and subscribe there it works fine. I get the request sent to me but I cannot respond via email or it gets deferred, but I can login via the web interface and approve the subscribe request. If I then try to send an email to the list it also gets deferred. What have I missed or done wrong? My second post to mailman group. This is all that is showing in my log: Aug 12 15:31:00 mail courierd: [ID 702911 mail.info] started,id=0001E1B9.411BC573.13B3,from=[EMAIL PROTECTED],module=lo cal,[EMAIL PROTECTED]|/home/mailman/mail/mailman/mailma n post isclients!!,addr=[EMAIL PROTECTED] Aug 12 15:31:00 mail courierlocal: [ID 702911 mail.info] id=0001E1B9.411BC573.13B3,from=[EMAIL PROTECTED],addr=[EMAIL PROTECTED] ydomain.com,status: deferred Their response. Re: [courier-users] Re: Check fail
When it come to this stuff I am a novice my self. :) Can I run the checks manualy? Or for that matter do I need to have imap installed if I only need pop3 and web support? If I do not need imap how do I remove it from the initial config. And once the bug gets fixed can I add it back in without much trouble? And what should I tell sun the bug is? Thanks for all your help. Russell Premont - Original Message - From: Sam Varshavchik [EMAIL PROTECTED] To: Courier-Users [EMAIL PROTECTED] Sent: Friday, November 01, 2002 11:10 PM Subject: [courier-users] Re: Check fail Russell Premont writes: Same result bash-2.05$ perl -e 'stat foo/. || die Dead.\n;' bash-2.05$ That's a definite bug in your operating system. This is a violation of POSIX filesystem permission semantics. The same exact bug was discovered in Tru64 UNIX earlier this year. After some back-and-forth, Compaq agreed that it was a bug, and it should be fixed in the last Tru64 service update. The upshot of this is that everything will work except for shared folders, until this bug is fixed. If you have a service contract with your vendor, you should report it, and ask them to investigate. Be sure to mention that Compaq screwed up in exactly the same way, and they fixed it. Now it's your vendor's turn. The executive summary is that if you do not have execute permissions on directory FOO, then a stat(2) call for FOO/BAR must fail for all values of BAR, including .. . is no different than any other entry of its directory, except that it always happens to refer to the current directory. But in all other aspects it's no different from any other directory entry. If you do not have execute permissions on a particular directory, you have no permission to search that directory for anything. There is no exception for the . entry whatsoever, as far as POSIX filesystem permission semantics are concerned. You need to spell this out in your report. Sometimes the first-level vendor support people who triage bug reports must be spoon-fed, when these kinds of delicate nuances are involved. - Original Message - From: Sam Varshavchik [EMAIL PROTECTED] To: Courier-Users [EMAIL PROTECTED] Sent: Friday, November 01, 2002 10:16 PM Subject: [courier-users] Re: Check fail Russell Premont writes: Ok I run it with no error I could see: bash-2.05$ mkdir foo bash-2.05$ chmod u-rwx foo bash-2.05$ perl -e 'stat foo || die Dead.\n;' Err... I have the latest version of openssl installed. I have also tested its functionality and all is ok. I use it with openssh and open ldap. Do you think for some reason it cannot find openssl library?
