[Coworking] Re: Choosing a location based on need or viability?

2010-01-25 Thread felicity at cubes
Hi Dave,

I think you need to look strongly at the demographics in choice and
just
as in real estate, location is important. The space needs to be
convenient
to your market. Does the area you are looking at have the
demographics
of people who will be using a coworking space? My initial instinct is
no, based
on the very little you mentioned. Ultimately, as learned from people
like
Alex of Indy Hall and Tony of New Work City, you have to build the
community and
if you have a strong community before you open the space, you will be
able to
discuss with them where they would want it which will help you build
your success.

Best of luck.

[Coworking] crisiscamps

2010-01-25 Thread rachel young
Hi all,

CrisisCamps, part of CrisisCommons, are ramping up once again in various
cities around the world to use technology to mitigate disaster, this time
with a focus on Haiti, and it is a way for many of us to use our skills to
help if we feel we can't help in so many other ways.

CrisisCampTO had a great
kickoff/planning meeting yesterday, but our actual devcamp will be on Sat
Jan 30 at the University of Toronto, in coordination with CCs in other
cities.

I know that New Work City will be hosting CC this coming weekend, and
NedSpace in Portland as well. any others?
r.

2010-01-25 Thread Eli Malinsky
Hey all

Super super sorry about the super super annoying "out of office" postings.
I'm on a bunch of lists but this is the only one that kept posting the Out
of Office message.

I'll make sure to temporarily unsubscribe from the list next time.

Happy 2010 everyone.
