Love that twitter thread Tony :P

We started writing a post on this exact topic a couple weeks back,
finally posted it today:

I spent some time this morning contemplating what to do. Do I engage? I
could spend all day tweeting at them telling them why they're wrong, but to
 what end?

I think the answer is to rise above. So I wrote about
 that:http://happymonster.co/2011/11/08/rising-above

At the core of it is something genius that Jacob said:

*“They have money, but we have people- and that is much more powerful.”*

With that post out of my system, it's time to go back to focusing on
 helping my community be awesomer!

 Cheers,
 Tony

I love the source for the article.  Source: Regus
This is a great example of how different their culture is from ours, from
real coworking.  As much as we all like to toot our own horns, etc, we
often give props to others in the community.  Those of us who are just
getting going look up to the pioneers.  In turn, some of us then become
pioneers in our spheres of influence.  But, like in life we never
arrive. Always something to both learn and teach.  We follow and then we
lead, but always still following.  (I think I can hear Elton, It's the
circle of life). All this is not just a rant against Regus rather an
excuse to once again say thanks to the global community of coworking.
Thanks for those who really did blaze the trail for us newbies and modeled
the culture of coworking so well.

[Coworking] Re: How To Convince Your Boss To Let You Cowork

2011-05-26 Thread georgiana
It was a great post! Was *very* happy to share it! Just wish I'd had
this 4 yrs ago when I was in this process myself -- It proved to be
too much for my boss at the time, so I left the company.

As a side (and with zero intention of hijacking this thread) I'm sorry
I haven't introduced myself to this group yet! My name is Georgiana
and I'm a freelancer in Montreal with great relationships in the
coworking community here (StationC, Notman House, RPM etc). I've also
recently become the Community Manager for OpenDesks. If you haven't
heard of it, (we're still in beta) but take a look at http://opendesks.com
if you're curious.

Again, great post Beth!

 Hi Everyone!

Just wanted to say thank you to all of those who shared (or encouraged
your members to share) your stories about coworking as a remote
 employee.

The article went live on Shareable yesterday, and I'd love for you to
 check it out!

I hope that it can be useful for new or hesitant members who feel
unsure about suggesting coworking to their respective companies. As
always, feel free to leave comments on the post if you didn't get to
 contribute!

 Thanks,
 Beth
