[Coworking] Re: Questions about creating a Space with Childcare
Hi, Gretchen! Just curious if you've started this! Almost 5 years later??? I live in Chicago and would love to know more about your progress! Thanks, Nikki nikki.ri...@gmail.com On Tuesday, August 4, 2009 9:42:35 AM UTC-5, gret...@yahoo.com wrote: Hi Jodie, you might also want to contact Soma Vida in Austin, TX. They have child care a few days a week on the premises. My husband, Jason, and I are also looking at starting a coworking center with child care here in Chicago. Our local business development center has been very helpful...they filled us in on all the requirements. Here in Chicago opening a day care where the children are dropped off and the parents can leave the premises is very involved, but if you require the parents to be present and available (in the next room, for example) the certification process is way simpler. We're thinking of starting with that and then upgrading to day care if there is a need for it. We're just in the beginning stages as well...feel free to contact me if you want to co-work or just bounce ideas around. I don't know about you, but every work-at-home parent I have talked to about this gets very excited about the idea of having a place to work where their kids are involved in something other than the Disney Channel! Not too sure about the legalities of this. Is it better to have members volunteer? Looking for feedback. I know there is a great need for this as it is next to impossible to find part-time childcare and really costly when all you may have to do is just a few hours of phone interviews and work without childcare for the rest etc. Can't wait to hear any comments. -- Visit this forum on the web at http://discuss.coworking.com --- You received this message because you are subscribed to the Google Groups Coworking group. [Coworking] Re: Questions about creating a Space with Childcare
As one of the few people in this group who I know has actually done coworking with childcare (CubesCrayons www.cubesandcrayons.com), there are lots of considerations. You have to do it your own way, but adding children to the mix is a whole different ball of wax and if your goal is to run a coworking space, then this is not the model for you. I wish everyone luck. [Coworking] Re: Questions about creating a Space with Childcare
Hello everybody!, I introduced myself a couple of months ago. I'm a co-worker in Barcelona city. My name is Maria Pérez. I'm trying to move my co-working place closer to my home because my partner is retiring. Therefore, we're trying to sell our current co-working space. It's in a very well communicated neightbourhood, by the way. If there's another co-worker or a future co-worker interested in a place of 160m2 , just e-mail me to this address. Thank you, cheers, Mar. --~--~-~--~~~---~--~~ You received this message because you are subscribed to the Google Groups Coworking group. [Coworking] Re: Questions about creating a Space with Childcare
Jodie, You may want to look at the progress M.F. Chapman has made with CubesCrayons - http://www.cubesandcrayons.com. Her centers provide flexible office space with onsite childcare. [They] offer a unique combination of services to the self–employed or freelance worker with young children. FYI - we interviewed her in Episode #5 of On Coworking. Hope this helps!
