[cross-project-issues-dev] Sim Release aggregation jobs have been re-enabled

2016-01-19 Thread David M Williams
It appears bug 486076 has been fixed, and I have re-enabled the
aggregation jobs.

If anyone will not be able to make the schedule for RC1 warm-up (input due
tomorrow) based on this 24 delay feel free to say and we can decide if
better to adjust schedule ... or some other option.

Thanks,

Re: [cross-project-issues-dev] Symbolic links on download area

2016-01-19 Thread Denis Roy
The other reason we disable serving through symlinks is that we can't
guarantee that our mirror network will also serve through symlinks.

So while we appreciate the consideration for disk space, our bandwidth
is a limited commodity.

 Yes, I don't think you can serve a file that's a link.

 If you're trying to implement a repository that's a moving target, a
better approach is to specify it as a composite that composes a
single child, and update that composite to point at the new child
each time (rather than updating the symbolic link to point at a new
 repository each time).

Re: [cross-project-issues-dev] Sorry (again) for the spam of "[marsAggregation] Failed for build ... "

2016-01-19 Thread David M Williams
Apologies again. From reading the bug it sounded "fixed", but is not. I
did try turn off mail notification but forgot I have to wipe the workspace
for that to take effect. So once again, 78 erroneous mail messages were
sent for "build failed". [If it is any consolation, I did open a "bug on
myself" to automatically avoid "mass mailings" from the aggregator (
Bug 486078).

EVERYONE got a "FAILED BUILD" message tonight (if not more than one). The
issue is being tracked in

Bug 486076- Sim release HIPP Instance lost file access to "archives" and
"downloads"

In the meantime, I have disabled all "Sim Release" jobs so that it will

I know we are at the end of RC1 +1 day, but I hope everyone can recover

Hi all,

we would like to announce the removal of the following API from the

These types were deprecated 2010 in 0.9.1 (aka 384a19eee07a2f).
If anyone is still using them, its time to stop.

The types will be removed in the next major release after 4.2.0 (TBD).
Please forward this mail to relevant mailing lists.

Comments please on https://bugs.eclipse.org/bugs/show_bug.cgi?id=486105

Re: [cross-project-issues-dev] Symbolic links on download area

2016-01-19 Thread Jens Reimann
Hello Ed,

thanks for this input, however I am not talking about P2 repositories here.

For APT and YUM repositories I would like to provide a "stable" channel,
which always points to the most recent release and a "release-x" channel
which only has maintenance updates of this specific release.

In order not to waste space on the download area, I thought that using a
"symbolic link" seemed like a good idea.
