[cross-project-issues-dev] Improve reliability of Maven based builds: stop using repo.eclipse.org as Maven central mirror

2017-08-02 Thread Mikaël Barbero
Hi,

I've filled https://bugs.eclipse.org/bugs/show_bug.cgi?id=520448
 to test stopping using
repo.eclipse.org as Maven central mirror and use
Google mirrors instead.

I plan to start the test period after Photon M1 (August 11).

Feel free to comment on the bug if you have concerns or questions.

Thanks.
Mikael

[cross-project-issues-dev] BREE change to Java 8 on some core plugins

2017-01-11 Thread Mikaël Barbero
Hi,

With https://bugs.eclipse.org/bugs/show_bug.cgi?id=509234
,
org.eclipse.core.runtime.ListenerList now overrides the default method
Iterable.spliterator() and provides stream() and parallelStream() methods. Thus
it exposes Java 8 types.

If you use the ListenerList class and compile against
org.eclipse.equinox.common within the [3.9,4.0) range, this change may force
you to update your BREE to Java 8 as well (like we had to do for bundles
org.eclipse.equinox.preferences, org.eclipse.core.jobs and org.eclipse.core
runtime).

Changing BREE is not required if you use ListenerList and still build against
older compatible version of org.eclipse.equinox.common (i.e. within [3.0, 3.9)
range). As many of us are compiling against latest versions of bundles, think
of it if you see compile errors like the following "The type
java.util.stream.Stream cannot be resolved. It is indirectly referenced from
required .class files".

Note that any previously compiled bundle depending on
org.eclipse.equinox.common within the [3.0,4.0) range will continue to work as
before.

Cheers,
Mikael___

If you want to run the analysis straight from maven, we will add the
credentials to the maven settings, and this -D won't be needed anymore as the
sonar configuration will be retrieved from the settings file.

I don't think it's possible. IIRC, we've upgraded the sonar plugin because the
old does not work with new version of Hudson...

[cross-project-issues-dev] Can't access to any HIPP (404)

2014-07-21 Thread Mikaël Barbero
I can’t access to any HIPP (I get a 404).

https://hudson.eclipse.org/p2/
https://hudson.eclipse.org/oomph/
https://hudson.eclipse.org/emfcompare/
https://hudson.eclipse.org/egit/

I tried to restart my HIPP (emfcompare), but it did not changed anything.

Best regards,

[cross-project-issues-dev] Cannot restart EMFCompare's HIPP

2014-07-16 Thread Mikaël Barbero
Hi,

After being the witness of strange behaviors of the gerrit triggers (despite of
the fact that we did not changed anything in the hudson/gerrit config), I
wanted to restart the HIPP to check if it would solve the issue. On my eclipse
account page, when I asked for the restart, I got the following message:

Your request to stop Hudson has completed. Output text: Host key verification
failed.

And hudson did not stopped :( Any hint? Thank you!

It works, thanks. I will now have a look if I still see the strange behaviors I
was mentioning below.

Thank you!!

Hi Mikael,

Can you try again and see if it works now?

We were having some DB issues last night which may have caused this issue. Let
us know if it still doesn't work and we can investigate further.

[cross-project-issues-dev] Cannot run program git on EMF Compare's HIPP

2014-03-31 Thread Mikaël Barbero
Hi,

I get an error message from the HIPP since a few minutes: “ Cannot run program
git (in directory
/home/hudson/genie.modeling.emfcompare/.hudson/jobs/gerrit-allbranches/workspace):
error=2, No such file or directory”

It seems that the git executable is not available anymore.

Is anyone experiencing the same issue?

[cross-project-issues-dev] [HIPP] Visibility of Hudson configuration for anonymous users

2014-01-09 Thread Mikaël Barbero
Hi all,

I often struggle to build (or setup a CI build for) eclipse projects.
Sometimes, there is a wiki page about how to build the project, but it may be
outdated or not complete. I often want to see how the project setup its jobs on
hudson in order to know how I should properly build the project.

On the shared instance, it was possible for anonymous users but it is no longer
available by default on HIPP instances. Project leaders have to install the
Extended Read Permission Plugin
(https://wiki.jenkins-ci.org/display/JENKINS/Extended+Read+Permission+Plugin)
by themselves and configure the additional permission for Anonymous.

I did it for EMF Compare (e.g. see
https://hudson.eclipse.org/emfcompare/job/emfcompare-master/), and I can ask
individually to projects of interest to do it, but I think would be good to
make it a rule to let anonymous users see the jobs configurations on HIPP. It
should not be a choice let to the HIPP owners because I think the availability
of how to build an open source project is an important criteria in order to
consider it truly open.

Do not see this mail as a rant against projects that did not install this
plugin. They may not be aware of the issue. I just would like to know your
opinion. If you agree, I will open a bug about it to see how to make it real
for all HIPP instances.

Best regards,
Mikael

Re: [cross-project-issues-dev] [HIPP] Visibility of Hudson configuration for anonymous users

2014-01-09 Thread Mikaël Barbero
Ed,

Surely the lack of visibility of HIPPs contradicts our normal Eclipse
policies of openness, so all HIPPs should have anonymous read access unless
 specifically requested (and justified) otherwise?

I can't manage to think about a proper justification for that, but I fully
agree that it should not be done without the PMC approval.

Cheers,
Mikael

Re: [cross-project-issues-dev] [HIPP] Visibility of Hudson configuration for anonymous users

2014-01-09 Thread Mikaël Barbero
In my experience with Hudson permissions the permissions are additive, not
subtractive. So if we globally set that Anonymous users can view a job
configuration. You cannot remove that permission inside an individual job
 configuration.

I agree. I was wrong.

For example all the Hudson servers allow anonymous users to view jobs
globally, and it's not possible for a individual job to remove this
permission. Even if you set anonymous read access unchecked in the job
 permissions matrix.

 Hi Mikaël,

I tend to use the project-plan script with a planurl argument instead, it
makes it easier to point to a specific project plan.
 Example:

Doesn’t directly answer your question maybe, but hopefully it'll help :)

 Hi,

I think there may be an issue with the script
http://www.eclipse.org/projects/project-plan.php. It does not manage to
display the new project plan of EMF Compare
 (http://www.eclipse.org/projects/project-plan.php?projectid=modeling.emf.compare)
despite the raw XML is correct.

The file is the exact copy of the previous one that was working. The only
difference is that the previous one was on CVS (and my still be) but not
the new one (it is on the migrated Git repository of EMF Compare website).

Any idea? Am I missing anything? Thank you in advance.

 Mikael
