Beijing slammed over encryption

---
A United States Congressman has criticised new encryption regulations
released by Beijing, calling them a major invasion of privacy against
computer users worldwide, including US citizens.

"It's time for the Chinese Government to support the privacy of its
citizens instead of invading it, and to create an environment in which
electronic commerce can flourish," Republican Robert Goodlatte said in the
international equivalent of a "dear colleague" letter.

| As reported, the Chinese government has moved to restrict the use
| of privacy-enhancing technologies and to surveill use of the Internet
| generally. Any country that does that ensures that in the global
| economy the only role they can play is that of coolie labor. How
| ironic for China to choose for itself such a role at this late date.
