[css-d] template propagation

2009-07-05 Thread Gerry Goodfriend
Hi all,

I have created the pages of the site using a template and have made
all the areas on it editable.

All was working well until I had to edit or add to topics on the
right side bar, they don't propagate; for that to happen I have had
to re-create the page. That's a drag and would be more so when the
site is full-sized.

So for example: under BCAM Bulletin -- Current Articles, all those
titles need to be changed every three months. Making a repeating
region there doesn't seem to have helped.

I'll appreciate people's input.

The site can be accessed using:

http://www.bcam.qc.ca/html/contact.html

and then clicking on the link that it the second letter e in the word
Webmaster in the column on the left.

Many thanks,
Gerry

[css-d] template propagation

Hi all,

I figured it out: don't make it an editable region. Hope no one spent
too much time on this.

Thanks if you did,
Gerry

[css-d] centering the page

2009-05-09 Thread Gerry Goodfriend
Hi all,

I'm still at it. I've got a page that has no errors, no browser
issues, and I've done the auto, auto in the container div that
usually does the trick, but I can't seem to find why it isn't working
this time.

Please go to www.bcam.qc.ca , then to the Contact page, then, click
on the letter e in the word: Webmaster in the column on the left.

Here's the css:

@charset UTF-8;
body  {
text-align: center; /* this centers the container in IE 5* browsers.
The text is then set to the left aligned default in the #container
selector */
color: #33;
font-family: Verdana, Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;
font-size: small;
background-color: #FF;
margin-top: 0px;
padding-top: 0px;
}
#container {
width: 1024px;
text-align: center;
margin-right: auto;
margin-left: auto;

[css-d] Disparity

2008-02-11 Thread Gerry Goodfriend
Hi,

I'm hoping to get help with a page that displays properly in Safari
and Firefox on Mac, and Safari and Firefox on Windows, but not
Internet Explorer 6.0! It looks as if it hasn't been formatted, but
it has and it displays correctly on each of the other browsers!

Please go to:

http://www.bcam.qc.ca/html/contact.html

and then, under the list that says: Our address is:, click on the
letter a in Webmaster, and that will take you to the problem page.

Thanks,

[css-d] stubborn link color

2007-09-01 Thread Gerry Goodfriend
Hi,

Unfortunately I cannot provide the site for viewing since it won't be
up until next Thursday, and I'm hoping to have this problem solved
before then. So I hope help can be given anyway.

I have created a template from which all docs were created. I have
set the Link Color in Page Properties to the color I want, and in
some pages it is correct, and some not. The content of some of the
pages has been pasted in from another site (www.ckutfolk.com), a
radio program I'm taking over, and the link color of those is
consistently purplish in my site, while some of my pages are the blue
I want and others are that purple. I know it would be helpful to view
all of this, but I'm hoping someone will be able to have a sense of
what's needed to correct the problem. Otherwise, I'll post it next
Thursday as is and ask again then.

Thanks,

Gerry

[css-d] Advice desired

2007-06-26 Thread Gerry Goodfriend
Hi all,

I'm very new to CSS and XHTML, knowing nothing about it as of 2
months ago. I'm also 64 and so my ability to remember many things is
showing signs of decline. I inherited a site and was in the process
of trying to eliminate all the errors W3C had pointed out, but I
decided I would just make everything look better (all the boxes had
right aligned text!), and then later, I would make a change in the
design. I have recreated the page error free but am unable to place
the navigation tabs where they belong, and the side borders do not
appear. I have grown to like the layout and would like to keep it.

I would like to know what people think of the page and how I should
proceed to improve it.

Thanks,
Gerry
