With PNGs, the transparency is part of the actual IMAGE, you shouldn't need additional CSS. As others have mentioned, IE 7 and 8 support PNG transparency, so you don't need to do anything. If you need to support PNG transparency in IE6, you want the AlphaImageLoader filter [1] [2] [3].
