CTAN update: SemanTeX

2021-08-11 Thread CTAN Announcements
Sebastian Ørsted submitted an update to the

SemanTeX

package.

Version number: 0.512 2021-08-10
License type: lppl1.3c

Summary description: Semantic, keyval-based mathematics

Announcement text:
--

Keys like "upper -", "lower -", "-" etc. have been removed; those were
previously aliases of "upper slot", "lower slot", "slot" etc. The reason
for the removal of these is that it causes confusion when you want to use
a minus sign as in index, as in "\vy[-]". Furthermore, due to a previous,
failed find-and-replace operation, keys like "lower *" were accidentally
called "lower **", while what was supposed to be "lower **" was really
called "lower ***". The error was not present in the "upper" equivalents
of these keys.

CTAN update: visualFAQ

2021-08-11 Thread CTAN Announcements
Scott Pakin submitted an update to the

visualFAQ

package.

Version number: 2021-08-08
License type: lppl

Summary description: A Visual LaTeX FAQ

Announcement text:
--

Having trouble finding the answer to a LaTeX question -- or struggling
to find the words to express your question? The Visual LaTeX FAQ is an
innovative new search interface that presents over a hundred typeset
samples of frequently requested document formatting. Simply click on a
hyperlinked piece of text that matches what you want to achieve -- or
what you want to prevent -- and the Visual LaTeX FAQ will send your Web
browser to the appropriate page in the TeX FAQ.

This version of the Visual LaTeX FAQ updates all of the hyperlinks to
point to the TeX FAQ (https://texfaq.org/) instead of the
now-deprecated UK TeX FAQ. Thanks to Frank Mittelbach for alerting me
to the outdated links.
