CTAN update: nameauth

2020-11-24 Thread CTAN Announcements

Charles P. Schaum submitted an update to the

nameauth

package.

Version number: 3.5 2020-11-23
License type: lppl1.3

Summary description: Name authority mechanism for consistency in body text and
index

Announcement text:

This release of the nameauth package adds features and makes the package more
compliant
with best practices.

New features include the ability to use multiple indexes, stricter handling of
cross-references, options for backward-compatibility, optimization and
uniformity of
macro logic, increased modularity, and features that limit certain cases in
which
undocumented behavior might occur. The documentation has been made more
detailed and
there is more focus on proceeding from the known to the unknown, ensuring the
quick start
to be easy and get one used to the package quickly.

CTAN update: nameauth

2020-02-21 Thread CTAN Announcements
Charles P. Schaum submitted an update to the

nameauth

package.

Version number: 3.3 2020-02-20
License type: lppl1.3

Summary description: Name authority mechanism for consistency in body text
and index

Announcement text:
--

I am pleased to announce version 3.3 of nameauth. It fixes undocumented
behavior in a few less-common use cases, adds debugging aids and more
error protection, and introduces a heavily-rewritten manual that has been
reorganized for usability, including more real-world applications. If
needed, one can revert fully to the behavior of version 3.2 by using two
package options. The dtx file has been designed to generate the current
package and manual for both current TeX distributions and on older
versions used, e.g., on some Linux LTS releases.

CTAN update: nameauth

2017-03-23 Thread CTAN Announcements
Charles P. Schaum submitted an update to the

nameauth

package.

Version number: 3.2 2017-03-22
License type: lppl1.3

Summary description: Name authority mechanism for consistency in body

Announcement text:
--
I am pleased to release version 3.2, which fixes minor shortfalls from
the previous version. Now the case of alternate formatting and Western
suffixed names works as expected. Now the capitalization system
activated by \CapThis handles the various cases of testing and printing
capitalized names in the expected manner. Significant improvements
exist in the documentation to provide clearer examples and function
better under multiple latex engines.

CTAN update: nameauth

2016-09-22 Thread CTAN Announcements
Charles P. Schaum submitted an update to the

nameauth

package.

Version number: 2.6 2016-09-19
License type: lppl1.3

Summary description: Name authority mechanism for consistency in body
text and index

Announcement text:
--
Version 2.6 of the nameauth package accounts for names that are split
by a page break by making an index entry before and after the name.

Affix commas in the text (comma option and old syntax) no longer affect
the index. The old syntax is virtually interchangeable with the new
(apart from the cross-indexing macros). One easily can suppress commas
or add commas after affixes.

Many documentation improvements not only try to display the subject
matter in a more succinct and understandable manner, but a number of
special cases are covered. More examples help those looking for
specialty formats and applications, especially in cross-cultural uses.

CTAN update: nameauth

2016-04-10 Thread CTAN Announcements
Charles P. Schaum submitted an update to the

nameauth

package.

Version number: 2.5 2016-04-06
License type: lppl1.3

Summary description: Name authority mechanism for consistency in body
text and index

Announcement text:
--
The 2.5 milestone update moves toward greater modularity in processing
names.

No default format is assigned to names. Those who used the previous
default still may get that behavior with the smallcaps option.

The front/main matter systems each have their own first- and
subsequent-use hooks. Complex interactions with names and their
contexts are possible. Longer examples in the manual are included also
in a separate examples file.

This opens possibilities for reference works, historical research, and
any situation where one must key information to names and create
complex interactions based on that.
