Affix commas in the text (comma option and old syntax) no longer affect the index. The old syntax is virtually interchangeable with the new (apart from the cross-indexing macros). Many documentation improvements not only try to display the subject matter in a more succinct and understandable manner, but a number of special cases are covered.
