CTAN update: fontspec

2015-03-30 Thread CTAN Announcements
Will Robertson submitted an update to the

fontspec

package.

Version number: 2.4c
License type: lppl1.3

Summary description: Advanced font selection in XeLaTeX and LuaLaTeX.

Announcement text:
--
A few bugs that were long overdue for fixing -- apologies for the delay.

Change history
--

- v2.4c (2015/03/14)

* v2.4b was never released, sorry!
* This time *really* fix \@fnsymbol and avoid overwriting it if
  already fixed.
* Fix Renderer=Graphite (off-by-one error).
* Fix some edge cases for \aliasfontfeature.

- v2.4b (2014/08/23)

* Improve backwards compatibility w.r.t. recent argument order
  change; specifically, if an optional argument is presented before
  the font name then avoid looking for one afterwards.
* Fix \@fnsymbol; it was defined as a \protected macro, where in
  fact its internal text-or-math switch needed to be instead.
* No longer lowercase fontnames internally; this fixes a bug with
  loading mixed-case .fontspec files.
* Fixed some documentation typos/inconsistencies related to recent
  changes.

CTAN update: fontspec

2013-02-28 Thread CTAN Announcements
quoth the daemon:

 Name of contribution: fontspec
 Author's name: Will Robertson
 Package version: v2.3
 Location on CTAN: macros/latex/contrib/fontspec/
 Summary description: Font selection for XeLaTeX and LuaLaTeX
 License type: lppl

 Announcement text given by the package's contributor:
 --
 Long, long, long overdue, this release of fontspec brings a
 significant new feature which allows default font features to be
 selected on a per-font basis, and to store such customisations in a
 separate configuration file.

 This allows font authors to distribute config files with their texmf
 fonts so that filename-based fonts can be loaded as complete families
 without specifying all the tedious bold/italic names, etc.

 This feature has been barely tested; please let me know of any issues
 you come across. See section 7.1 in the manual for documentation of
 this feature.

 Official (read, terse) change notes follow.

 - v2.3 (2013/02/25)

 * Add support for per-font options in `\defaultfontfeatures`
 * Add support for `fontname.fontspec` per-font configuration files
 * Keep up-to-date with expl3 changes

thanks for the upload; i've installed the new version, and updated the
catalogue repository.

CTAN update: fontspec

2011-09-13 Thread CTAN Announcements
i'm vacantly staring at my screen, but the daemon disturbs me with:

 Name of contribution: fontspec
 Author's name: Will Robertson
 Package version: v2.2
 Location on CTAN: macros/latex/contrib/fontspec/
 Summary description: Advanced font selection in XeLaTeX and LuaLaTeX
 License type: lppl

 Announcement text given by the package's contributor:
 --
 This is a relatively large update for fontspec featuring quite a
 number of internal changes -- please report any troubles you find and
 I'll address them as swiftly as I can. The notes for this version
 release can be found below. Please ensure your version of the expl3
 package is up-to-date before installing this update.

 Happy TeX-ing!
 Will

 - v2.2 (2011/09/13)

 * Support alternate selections in CharacterVariant (cvxx in OpenType)
   using new syntax `[CharacterVariant=5:2]`.
 * Add `fontspec`-compatible `\oldstylenums` and `\liningnums` commands.
 * New programmer's function `\fontspec_set_fontface:NNnn` (for use when
   `\zf@basefont` might previously have been queried).
 * Log file output is slightly tidier.
 * Some old lingering bugs squashed:
   - Small caps font selection was broken in some cases.
 (Thanks Enrico Gregorio.)
   - Fonts loaded by filename with under-specified shapes threw an error
 (e.g., asking explicitly for bold but not italic).
 (Thanks Vafa Khalighi.)
 * Documentation improvements largely due to Markus Böhning.
 * Many internal changes, among which:
   - `xkeyval` package no longer used for option processing;
 `expl3`'s `l3keys` used instead.
 This allows `fontspec` to be loaded before `\documentclass`
 (thanks Heiko Oberdiek for reporting the issue)
 and fixes a potential conflict with the `preview` package
 (thanks again Vafa).
   - Internal names changed; avoid \zf@basefont, \zf@family, etc.
 from now on -- there are public interfaces now to get access to the
 same information
   - Update `expl3` support to latest CTAN version.

thanks for the upload; i've installed the new version, and updated the
catalogue repository.

 Just when I thought the final release for TeX Live 2010 was done, a
 couple more issues arose. This time for sure; version v2.0b brings:

 * Improved examples in the documentation, with fewer proprietary fonts
 * All font examples are included as separate images on CTAN, so the
   manual can be compiled (with pdfLaTeX) by anyone, anywhere
 * LuaLaTeX fixes for the StylisticSet and Annotation features
 * New OpenType feature `CharacterVariant` now supported
 * Minor change: `Ligatures=Historical` is now `Ligatures=Historic`
   for consistency

 After a short testing period, I'm happy to call this v2 of the
 fontspec package.

 Since the last beta on CTAN the following changes have been made:

 - New feature: with xcolor loaded you may now select colours by name
 - Typeset examples have been re-added to the documentation
 - Better compatibility with other packages that use internal functions
   of fontspec pre-v2 (polyglossia is still broken, however)
 - Added a test suite, with few tests so far
 - A number of bug fixes

 This release coincides with version 1.10 of the luaotfload package;
 please update both packages together.

i've installed the new version and updated the catalogue repository.

CTAN update: fontspec v2.0b2

2010-06-02 Thread CTAN Announcements
that daemon pops up at the most inconvenient times. while i was working

 Name of contribution: fontspec v2.0b2

 Second beta release of fontspec v2, which supports LuaTeX.

 Minor changes since the previous release:
  - No longer need to run mkluatexfontdb manually;
 update documentation to reflect this
  - Fix a bug with automatic font scaling in LuaTeX
  - Two new XeTeX features: AutoFakeBold and AutoFakeSlant
 for generating poor man's bold and poor man's oblique
 shapes for a family (these are extensions of FakeBold/FakeSlant)
  - An internal programmer's interface command for creating
 new LaTeX font families.
  - Minor internal and documentation changes.
  - For XeTeX: many functions of xltxtra are now incorporated
 into fontspec.
  - The makefile can now automatically install fontspec without
 needing the path to your texmfhome.

 (Note we no longer have a .ins file but Manuel assures me that's
 okay. You can extract everything from the dtx using the Makefile
 or by running `tex fontspec.dtx`.)

thanks for the upload; i've installed the files and updated the
catalogue repository.

   http://www.tex.ac.uk/tex-archive/help/Catalogue/entries/fontspec.html
 or they may browse the package directory at

though the catalogue entry won't change (in so far as it changes at all)
until some time while i sleep tonight.
