February 11, 2004A mutually beneficial relationshipboth in politics and in businessbetween George Herbert Walker Bush and the Washington Post began in the early 1950s, when Bush solicited a substantial investment in his first Texas oil company from Eugene Meyer, former president of the World Bank, founder of the Washington Post Company, and father of the late Katharine Graham. The relationship continues to this day in the illegitimate presidency of Bush's firstborn son, George Walker Bush.
The inner dynamics of this relationship are mostly invisible to those outside the murky, ruling-class nexus of the military-industrial-intelligence complex and international investment and elite social circles that make up the permanent hidden government behind America's Potemkin republic. But the very public nature of both Bush and Graham families, combined with the diminishing need for discretion from an ever-monopolizing corporate media, make the arm's-length back scratching between the Bushes and the Post increasingly transparent.
Of course, appearances must be kept up. The natural "conflict of interests" between the political class and its "watchdog," the "independent" mediaall so critical to American political mythologymust be maintained. This is especially true when the globalizing ambitions of media boards of directors dovetail perfectly with the imperial goals of the national security state, and when media operates primarily as the propaganda arm of a neofascist government. There needs to be "plausible deniability" for media to credibly claim its independence from the state.
So, for example, while the Washington Post editorial page endorses the Democratic candidate for president one day every four years, in keeping with its "liberal" tradition, the rest of the time it can spend on the front page advancing the agenda of what George W's role model Winston Churchill called "the high cabal" that oversees the interests of Wall Street and the national security statewhich are generally Republican. But of course the Post, the inside-the-beltway national newspaper of record, will endorse the ideas of whichever party the Graham family and its retainers feel will best advance the unique political and financial goals of their own shape-shifting ruling-class faction.
Sometimes this means endorsing the opposite of what you really wanta typical "psychological operation," as every mother and CIA asset knows. Like in the 2000 campaign, where the Post endorsed Al Gore just before the election, but only after spending over a year with Post reporter Ceci Connolly on the front page, not only parroting the Republican talking points of the day, but pioneering their use. She incessantly repeated her own Big Lies about Gore "inventing the Internet" and Love Canal and "Love Story," even after her obvious exaggerations were exposed. It was a message of hatespecifically, media hatred of Al Gore, as the Post's media reporter, Howard Kurtz (with his own intimate ties to the Republican party) later admitted, as did Dana Milbank, the Post's White House reporter and the Bushes' fellow Skull and Bones alumnus. The Post never issued an apology for its lies about Gore's veracity, and as Robert Parry at Consortium News reported, its grudging corrections "still misled readers about what Gore actually said."
Besides the longstanding ties between the Bushes and the Grahams, there were practical financial reasons for the Post to prefer a George W. Bush administration. Even though Gore was the product of another dynastic ruling class family, and had his own personal ties to the oil industrynot to mention serving as vice-president in an administration that was scarcely less solicitous of Big Oil than the current one, as "former" CIA operative Robert Baer talks about in his book, "Sleeping with the Devil"he was still not trusted by Wall Street. In a vulnerable period of personal tragedy, Gore had made the mistake of opening his heart about what he really felt about the environment in his book, "Earth in the Balance." So he would always be regarded with suspicion by the energy interests at the core of America's foreign policy establishment, which the Post serves as a kind of daily newsletter.
There were other financial interests, closer to the Post's cold cash heart, that would also be serviced by a Bush administration. A deregulation-friendly Federal Communications Commission, headed by the son of a longtime Bush family functionary, Colin Powell, would raise the limits on what a powerful media empire like the Post Company could own. As media analyst David Podvin has discussed at the website Make Them Accountable, the Post's student testing division is one of its most profitable properties, and Bush's No Child

 Part 1 of a two part-series
Secret admirers: The Bushes and the Washington Post
 By Michael Hasty
Online Journal Contributing Writer
February 5, 2004Ever since the days of the Watergate scandal, when a series of front-page articles by Washington Post reporters Bob Woodward and Carl Bernstein ultimately led to the resignation of President Richard Nixon, the Post has had a reputation among many Americans as one of the elite bastions of the "liberal media."
This opinion is especially prevalent among conservatives, who also fault the Post for its publication (along with that other "liberal" icon, The New York Times) of the Pentagon Papersan action they correctly view as having made a major contribution to undermining domestic support for the war in Vietnam. During the '70s, there was an angry conservative boycott of the paper in the Washington, DC, area, with "I Don't Believe the Post" bumper stickers appearing on cars and WP vending boxes.
At the heart of the Post's "liberal" reputation is the sense that its coverage represents the thinking of what used to be known as the "Eastern Liberal Establishment" back in the days when Republicans could be liberals (with a favorable view of internationalism and the welfare state) and before the Establishment moved to Texas and got saved by Jesus, its favorite political philosopher. This was the same period when the Central Intelligence Agency, still dominated by the Establishment Ivy Leaguers who organized the "oh-so-social" OSS in World War II, was also widely seen as a "liberal" institution.
With a 21st-century perspective, where internationalism has become globalization, and monopoly capitalism is so powerful it no longer needs to mask its agenda with welfare programs, we can see the Establishment's "liberalism" for the ruthless neoliberalism it has always been. Yet the more powerful and elite the ruling class, the greater its need for an effective propaganda system to maintain that power; and the Washington Post remains, as writer Doug Henwood described it in 1990, "the establishment's paper."
In an article published by the media watchdog group, Fairness and Accuracy in Reporting (FAIR), Henwood traced the Post's Establishment connections to Eugene Meyer, who took control of the Post in 1933. Meyer transferred ownership to his daughter Katharine and her husband, Philip Graham, after World War II, when he was appointed by Harry Truman to serve as the first president of the World Bank. A lifelong Republican, Meyer had been "a Wall Street banker, director of President Wilson's War Finance Corporation, a governor of the Federal Reserve, and director of the Reconstruction Finance Corporation," Henwood wrote.
Philip Graham, Meyer's successor, had been in military intelligence during the war. When he became the Post's publisher, he continued to have close contact with his fellow upper-class intelligence veteransnow making policy at the newly formed CIAand actively promoted the CIA's goals in his newspaper. The incestuous relationship between the Post and the intelligence community even extended to its hiring practices. Watergate-era editor Ben Bradlee also had an intelligence background; and before he became a journalist, reporter Bob Woodward was an officer in Naval Intelligence. In a 1977 article in Rolling Stone magazine about CIA influence in American media, Woodward's partner, Carl Bernstein, quoted this from a CIA official: "It was widely known that Phil Graham was somebody you could get help from." Graham has been identified by some investigators as the main contact in Project Mockingbird, the CIA program to infiltrate domestic American media. In her autobiography, Katherine Graham described how her husband worked overtime at the Post during the Bay of Pigs operation to protect the reputations of his friends from Yale who had organized the ill-fated venture.
After Graham committed suicide, and his widow Katharine assumed the role of publisher, she continued her husband's policies of supporting the efforts of the intelligence community in advancing the foreign policy and economic agenda of the nation's ruling elites. In a retrospective column written after her own death last year, FAIR analyst Norman Solomon wrote, "Her newspaper mainly functioned as a helpmate to the war-makers in the White House, State Department and Pentagon." It accomplished this function (and continues to do so) using all the classic propaganda techniques of evasion, confusion, misdirection, targeted emphasis, disinformation, secrecy, omission of important facts, and selective leaks.
Graham herself rationalized this policy in a speech she gave at CIA headquarters in 1988. "We live in a dirty and dangerous world," she said. "There are some things the general public does not need to know and shouldn't. I believe democracy flourishes when the government can take legitimate steps to keep its secrets and when the press can decide whether to print what it knows."

ps--we do know that there are other contexts of spirit where it's NOT a reference
to an Israelite (like when it's a reference to ghosts). We also know that there
are other contexts where it's a reference to a *TRAIT* of an Israelite (like when an
Israelite is filled with the spirit). But in the above context, an Israelite IS
spirit, so it cannot mean ghost, and it cannot be a reference to any of his
 traits.

Here we go flunking Aristotelean Logic 100 again. A=A; B=B. Period. It's a great
binary system of maths-logic and that is what my Electric Abacus paper (soon to be

 Man, major silence?

Is nobody replying because they disagree? Or should the question be re-stated?

Let's try it this way. Let's PRESUME that the phraseology, punctuation, subject
and verb ordering, etc., of John 3:6 That which is born of the flesh is flesh; and
that which is born of the Spirit is spirit is accurate (as every translator who has
 ever touched it agrees).

In that eventuality, and in this context (and perhaps ONLY this one context),
something can NOT be OF the spirit if it IS spirit, right?

This is not to say that in a different context in a different verse that it CAN
also mean something very different. But right here, dealing directly with two words
spoken by Jesus Himself, it CANNOT mean anything else, right? Let's pay very close
attention to what Jesus MEANT by these two simple words.

WHO IS SPIRIT IN THIS CONTEXT?

 Genetic descendants of Jacob/Israel!

 Do they have spirit? NO.

 Can they become spirit NO.

Can their spirit be increased, fulfilled, enhanced, or otherwise changed?
 NO.

IS SPIRIT A MENTAL CONDITION? NO, IT'S A GENEALOGICAL CONDITION.

Can a non-Isralite become spirit? NO.

Can an Israelite become non-spirit? NO.

Can an Israelite reject or blaspheme spirit? Yes--by mixing the holy seed with
the people of the land [read: any non-Israelite].

Does that make him non-spirit? NO. It only means that his genetic descendants
 are not spirit.

Did Jesus agree with Nicodemus when he asked can a man be born again when he is
old? NO. In no uncertain terms, Jesus' reply was essentially no, you stupid
Pharisee, muds cannot be spirit because muds are born of the flesh and can never be
spirit. Did Nicodemus ever comprehend His explanation? If he was an Israelite, he
did. If he was a mud, he at least pretended that he didn't, to the day he died
 (just like jews today do).

 Sincerely,

 John Knight

William, today the RNC launched www.flippercam.com. As John Kerry travels the country
campaigning in the last 36 days of this election, he’ll be followed by a school of
dolphins, led by Flipper, who will highlight Kerry’s flip-flops on every major issue
from the war on terror to whether or not he owns an assault rifle or an SUV.

As Flipper, Flopper, Flapper and Friends travel the Great Lakes region, the dolphins
will provide daily updates via Flipper Cam which features video feeds from the road.

Each Friday the RNC will announce the results of the Name a Dolphin Contest based on
suggestions submitted to the website throughout the week.

On a lot of issues Senator Kerry only has two or three positions. On Iraq he has 10
which means we need more dolphins, said RNC Communications Director Jim Dyke.

[CTRL] Town may be a base for secret society

Town may be a base for secret society

A SINISTER secret society said to control the worlds governments has members living in Hertford, according to a documentary to be aired on Sky One next week.
The Mercury can exclusively reveal that it will claim the mysterious sect, the Illuminati, rumoured to involve bankers, power brokers and politicians, may have an underground base in the town.
Formed in Bavaria in 1776, the groups high-powered members are said to include George W Bush and his presidential rival John Kerry, who joined Yale Universitys Skull and Bones club, a branch of the sect.
Conspiracy theorists claim that the society is bent on world domination in a shadowy behind-the-scenes bid to control us.
As part of Skys series on conspiracy theories, journalist Danny Wilson met with Hertford man and insider Tim Acheson, in a bid to meet an Illuminatus.
Tim belongs to a high-ranking family in the Knights Templar, a powerful society of warrior monks which dates back to the Crusades and who still meet at a secret location in the town.
But he denied a link with former US Secretary of State Dean Acheson, a well-known Templar, who was in President Harry S Trumans inner circle during the 1950s.
Cryptically, he told the Mercury: I cannot talk about my family connections. The older members of secret societies want to keep them secret, whereas some of the new blood is a bit more open.
I do know two members of the Illuminati who live here, but I must protect their identities.
There are powerful and dangerous forces at work here and I cannot risk getting on the wrong side of them.
The Mercury was given a sneak preview of The Illuminati Our Secret Masters, which will be aired on Sky One next Thursday at 9pm.
Tim, a reporter for conspiracy theory website www.theinsider.org, is seen driving through Bull Plain, Fore Street, Railway Street and St Andrew Street in Hertford with the TV presenter.
They drive to a deserted industrial estate near the town and wait for the shadowy figure to turn up but Wilson begins to think that hes been led on a wild goose chase.
Finally Tim returns to say his contact has got cold feet and backed off meeting the press.
Speaking to the Mercury this week, Tim said: It is very difficult to get them to reveal themselves, as you can understand, but I hope that it may happen at a later date.
And he promised to reveal more of Hertfords hidden secrets. He said: Hertford is very important as a centre of mystery and intrigue, more than most people realise.
Next weeks programme is one in a four-part series on conspiracy theories showing every Thursday in September.

Spinning a Larger Webby John F. McManus
The Trilateral blueprint for shaping a community of the developed nations of North America, Western Europe and Japan has been extended to other parts of the globe.
When it was formed in 1973, the Trilateral Commission’s benign-sounding purposes included gathering prominent Western Europeans, North Americans, and Japanese to promote the "enhancement of cooperative relations," "analysis of major issues," and "the development [and] endorsement of proposals on questions of vital mutual interest." Nothing in its initial literature mentioned world government, but this has been the underlying purpose of the Trilateral Commission (TC) from its outset.
A great deal can be learned from knowing who initiated this new organization, who had sufficient clout to gather into its fold the movers and shakers of these major industrialized regions, and who supplied its finances. The name of David Rockefeller figures in every aspect of the TC. Because nothing this man has touched in his 80-plus years has been good for national independence or personal freedom, it would be ridiculous to expect the TC to be anything but another Establishment-spun web to entrap mankind.
Rockefeller is the consummate advocate of world government whose vast wealth and influence — along with that of his family — have launched, promoted or funded virtually every 20th century step on the way to global tyranny. It was the Rockefeller Foundation and allies at the like-minded Ford, Kettering and other money spigots that fueled TC from its outset.
From only 187 members at its launching, Trilateral membership in mid-2004 has swelled to 379 bankers, politicians, corporate bigwigs, media heavyweights, labor leaders, academics and even some clergymen. With three original regions, it has branched out and now claims adherents from all parts of Europe, a Mexican contingent added to the North American group, a restructured Japanese section that now includes virtually every Asian country, and a new coterie of go-along-to-get-along world planners listed under the heading "Participants from Other Areas."
The Beginning
The TC’s blueprint was created in 1970 by Columbia University Professor Zbigniew Brzezinski, who would go on to become the organization’s first director and President Jimmy Carter’s national security adviser. That blueprint was his 334-page book, Between Two Ages: America’s Role in the Technetronic Era. Therein, Brzezinski praised Marxism as "the best available insight into contemporary reality," claimed that the United States had descended into "obsolescence," called for "management of America’s future [with the] planner as the key social legislator and manipulator," and fretted about a "resurgence of nationalism." Brzezinski then prescribed "piecemeal" creation of "a larger community of the developed nations … through a variety of indirect ties and already developing limitations on national sovereignty."
More specifically, Brzezinski recommended "the forging of community links among the United States, Western Europe, and Japan," then extending these to other "more advanced countries," and later bringing on board "more advanced communist countries." On the next-to-last page of his text, he lamented that the community of nations he hoped for was less ambitious "than the goal of world government" — which obviously was his ultimate desire.
Already a member of the David Rockefeller-led Council on Foreign Relations, Brzezinski’s book helped his star rise dramatically. In 1972, Rockefeller emissary W. Michael Blumenthal broached the Brzezinski plan at the Rockefeller-led Bilderberger meeting. At these annual conferences, over one hundred powerful individuals from Western Europe and the U.S. convene secretly to decide how the world should be managed. The

  September 27, 2004 -- THE State
Department this month labeled Saudi Arabia a "Coun try of Particular
Concern" — citing the kingdom's gross disregard for religious
freedom. Now that State has finally acted, what is Treasury waiting
for?
Saudi Arabia, as everyone knows, promotes domestic intolerance of
Christians, Jews and Shia Muslims. That would be mostly a Saudi
problem — if the Saudis didn't have so much money. But their oil
riches — and well-documented largesse — allow the kingdom to
export a distilled version of Islamofascist hatred.
Saudi money funds Islamist schools and mosques all over the
Middle East and in Europe. Of more immediate concern for Americans,
rich Saudis likely underwrote the 9/11 attacks — by giving money to
known terrorist charities, which then piped millions of dollars to
al Qaeda.
"Al Qaeda appears to have relied on a core group of financial
facilitators who raised money from a variety of donors . . .
particularly in Saudi Arabia," the 9/11 Commission reported. "Some
individual donors surely knew, and others did not, the ultimate
destination of their donations."
This easy money makes Saudi intolerance our problem. To
fund the 9/11 hijackings, those Saudis — and al Qaeda — had to get
some of that money from there to here. This is where
the Treasury Department comes in.
Treasury Secretary John Snow (under the direction of President
Bush) is responsible for damming terrorist dollars before they flow
into U.S. bank accounts — so that more Saudi money won't fund more
attacks on America.
After 9/11, Congress gave the department the powers to execute
this urgent mandate. The Patriot Act granted Treasury officials vast
new authority to review suspicious banking transactions in the
United States. The new law also directed American banks to report
suspicious activities to the government — like large cash
withdrawals or wire transfers, or unverifiable customer identities.

And one of the act's strongest provisions gave Treasury new
authority to oversee foreign banks. Under the law, Treasury
can now label individual nations, and foreign banks, areas of
"Primary Money-Laundering Concern."
Banks and nations suspected of acting as terrorists' Money
Laundromats aren't automatically barred from doing business in the
United States. But Treasury officials can force U.S. banks to
carefully record and report transactions done with targeted
international banks.
So, the department could require U.S. banks to flag
transactions with customers of Saudi banks — to learn, for example,
how much Saudi money flows into America for ostensible charitable or
educational purposes.
Treasury has invoked its new powers nine times — but not
against Saudi Arabia, or against any other major Mideast financial
hub. Last month, Treasury identified banks in Cyprus and Belarus as
suspected money-launderers; last year, it took action against Burma,
Nauru and Ukraine.
But some common-sense financial profiling is in order here:
* Fifteen of the 19 9/11 hijackers weren't from Nauru —
they were from Saudi Arabia.
* Several prominent Saudi princes and subjects, and more than a
dozen prominent Saudi banks and charities, have been fingered in
civil lawsuits filed in connection with the 9/11 attacks as alleged
al Qaeda donors or money-launderers.
* Earlier this year, Treasury shut down the Saudi-based Al
Haramain Islamic Foundation branch in Oregon.

While America Slept
By David H. Hackworth

You'd think a Hollywood screenwriter scripted the Saving Private Jessica Lynch
spectacle the Pentagon produced last year. But that five-sided propaganda
factory with its battalions of well-trained deceivers came up with this
particular fairytale - about how a Special Ops unit snatched a beautiful blonde
American heroine from Iraqi fiends - all on their own.

Why? In late March of '03, the invasion wasn't going according to plan.
Guerrillas were popping out of the desert like sand flies, gumming up the U.S.
attack, and General Tommy Franks - having gone in far too light and without the
right force mix - was in trouble. So the spinners came up with a scheme to
distract an easily gulled American press corps and divert public attention.

First the real story behind Lynch's rescue: A daring Special Forces team out of
Fort Campbell, Ky. - operating deep behind enemy lines - learned from an Iraqi
source that an American soldier was being held in a nearby hospital. They
quickly sent the Iraqi back with a concealed camera to determine how the
hospital was secured, critical information that was then flashed to the team's
command element.

On 1 April, Special Ops guys conducted a flawless raid - taped by Pentagon
flacks for the entire world to watch as it unfolded in all its live-fire,
heart-pounding ultimate reality show glory - against no resistance whatsoever,
since the Iraqi defenders were long gone.

Lynch, it turns out, wasn't wounded in action. She was badly banged up in a
vehicle accident which occurred while she and her mates were trying to escape a
guerrilla ambush. She not only never fought with her rifle and trench knife as
the Pentagon had leaked, she never even got off a shot - because she was out
cold from the time of the collision until she woke up in the hospital. Where the
Iraqi docs couldn't wait to transfer their well-cared for but terrified patient
to Special Ops control.

Because the Iraqi lawyer Mohammed Odeh Rehaeif - who became famous for saving
Lynch - was considered unreliable by the Green Berets, his info was never used
and the true hero of the rescue was the unsung Special Forces source, who
pocketed his modest pay and disappeared.

Not that the truth mattered. Rehaeif was flown to the States, given a lofty
position with a White House-connected Washington law firm, signed to a
six-figure book deal and, as with Lynch, spun into legend.

Lynch garnered a Bronze Star for her heroics, the Purple Heart for wounds
received in action, a mega-buck book deal - and millions of proud Americans got
to view her gallantry and sacrifice in an NBC TV docudrama. To keep the press
bamboozled, she was locked up under tight control in Army hospitals with a
convenient bout of amnesia.

In its micro way, the Lynch scam symbolizes the miasma of deception surrounding
the invasion and the ugly unsolvable occupation already causing the direst
consequences to our national security.

From post-9/11 to the present, the war too has been based on lies fanned by the
same Pentagon propaganda machine busy doing everything possible - including the
censorship of our troops in Iraq for national security purposes - to convince
the American people that, as we sadly heard for eight bloody years in Vietnam,
there's light at the end of the tunnel.

We went to war because we were told Iraq had WMD that threatened our country's
security and that Saddam was a key player behind 9/11. Both have been proven to
be super whoppers.

We were also told that liberating Iraq would be a cakewalk with few U.S.
casualties and would cost no more than a billion bucks - which would quickly be
repaid by Iraqi oil. Yet more duplicity.

So far I count 1,050 American dead, 7,750 combat wounded and about 30,000
non-battle casualties. And our war costs are already close to a cool $200
billion.

Meanwhile, Super Flack James Wilkinson, the reported Spielberg of the Lynch
saga, has recently been shifted from desert duties to advising National Security
Advisor Rice on how to further deceive the American people.

Like Vietnam, the cover-ups and distortions will continue until the press and
the people wake up. Hopefully that will be before the count is 3,000 or 4,000
dead American soldiers.

Elite IDF officers criticize military's actions in territories
Four members of crack Air Force unit describe house demolition as immoral, but
say they won't refuse to serve.
By Amos Harel

Four officers in the elite Air Force unit Shaldag recently sent a letter to
senior Israel Defense Forces officers in which they leveled harsh criticism at
the army's operations in the territories.

The officers said that they had no intention of refusing to serve, but objected
to some of the army's tactics in the territories. They were particularly
troubled by the widespread demolition of houses in Gaza, which they said was
immoral and hurt the innocent.

They also criticized specific operations in which they took part, such as one in
which soldiers took up positions in Palestinian houses in the southern West Bank
town of Yatta. The goal was to keep terrorists away from the roads, but in
practice the operation resulted in systematic harassment of the Palestinian
population, they wrote.

The four, all doing their compulsory service, hold an air force rank equivalent
to company commander. Their letter, first reported on Ma'ariv's Internet site,
was sent to Chief of Staff Moshe Ya'alon, Deputy Chief of Staff and former Air
Force commander Dan Halutz, and current Air Force Commander Eliezer Shakedi.

The letter supplies a partial answer to a question that has puzzled many
observers: Why has there been virtually no public criticism of the army's
actions in the territories from soldiers doing their compulsory service? Many
reservists have gone public with their criticisms, and some teenagers have
refused to be drafted at all, but the draftees have largely been silent.

The Shaldag officers' letter continues a trend that began with Breaking the
Silence, a group of newly demobilized soldiers that published highly critical
descriptions of army operations in which they participated. Similar criticisms
have been voiced in internal army forums: On two different recent occasions, a
soldier and an officer serving in the territories protested the IDF's treatment
of Palestinian civilians.

In their dispute with the army, the Shaldag officers have two advantages over
groups that advocate refusing to serve. First, their criticisms stem from
intensive experience in the field, whereas some of the refusal groups expressed
objections in principle that were not rooted in actual experience. Second, by
stressing that they will not refuse to serve, they have made it impossible for
the army to dismiss them as being outside the consensus.

Shaldag has been deeply involved in the fighting in the territories from the
outset. Its members have conducted numerous operations, including ambushes,
arrests and even assassinations. That is not true of all of the army's elite
units: Some opted to focus on their original mandates and leave the fighting in
the territories to others. The Air Force's decision to put Shaldag into the
thick of the fighting has only increased the unit's prestige, which had been on
the rise even before the intifada started: Today, many senior army officers are
Shaldag graduates.

The letter's authors were apparently particularly disturbed by what they saw in
Rafah during Operation Rainbow in May. During that operation, the IDF destroyed
dozens of houses. The fighting in Gaza is currently very different from that in
the West Bank: Lacking the precise intelligence information available in the
West Bank and confronted with a growing terrorist threat, the IDF has escalated
its operations to the point of collective punishment. In the West Bank, house
demolitions are pinpoint operations, used to punish the families of suicide
bombers. In Gaza, dozens of houses can be destroyed at a time, in an effort to
move the front lines away from the settlements and IDF positions.

In their letter, the officers stressed that they are proud to serve in Shaldag
and that their goal is to provoke an internal army debate over the issues that
trouble them. They charged that mid-level officers often act in ways that
violate the IDF's ethos.

The letter has prompted meetings with two of their commanding officers in recent
days, and they will soon be meeting with Shakedi as well. One question they were
asked is why they went straight to the top with their complaints, rather than
turning to their immediate superiors.

However, the army currently has no intention of taking disciplinary action
against the four. There is some justice to some of their complaints, said one
officer involved in the affair. They acted within the system and did not try to
turn the affair into a political issue. In my eyes, this was a legitimate
protest.

Subject: [CTRL] Town may be a base for secret society

cret society said to control the world?s governments has
members living in Hertford, according to a documentary to be aired on Sky One next
week.
The Mercury can exclusively reveal that it will claim the mysterious sect,
the Illuminati, rumoured to involve bankers, power brokers and politicians, may
have an underground base in the town.
Formed in Bavaria in 1776, the group?s high-powered members are said to
include George W Bush and his presidential rival John Kerry, who joined Yale
University?s Skull and Bones club, a branch of the sect.
Conspiracy theorists claim that the society is ?bent on world domination?
in a shadowy behind-the-scenes bid to control us.
As part of Sky?s series on conspiracy theories, journalist Danny Wilson met
with Hertford man and insider Tim Acheson, in a bid to meet an Illuminatus.
Tim belongs to a high-ranking family in the Knights Templar, a powerful
society of warrior monks which dates back to the Crusades ? and who still meet at
a secret location in the town.
But he denied a link with former US Secretary of State Dean Acheson, a
well-known Templar, who was in President Harry S Truman?s inner circle during the
1950s.
Cryptically, he told the Mercury: ?I cannot talk about my family
connections. The older members of secret societies want to keep them secret, whereas
some
of the new blood is a bit more open.
?I do know two members of the Illuminati who live here, but I must protect
their identities.
?There are powerful and dangerous forces at work here and I cannot risk
getting on the wrong side of them.?
The Mercury was given a sneak preview of The Illuminati ? Our Secret
Masters, which will be aired on Sky One next Thursday at 9pm.
Tim, a reporter for conspiracy theory website www.theinsider.org, is seen
driving through Bull Plain, Fore Street, Railway Street and St Andrew Street in
Hertford with the TV presenter.
They drive to a deserted industrial estate near the town and wait for the
shadowy figure to turn up ? but Wilson begins to think that he?s been led on a
wild goose chase.
Finally Tim returns to say his contact has ?got cold feet? and backed off
meeting the press.
Speaking to the Mercury this week, Tim said: ?It is very difficult to get
them to reveal themselves, as you can understand, but I hope that it may happen
at a later date.?
And he promised to reveal more of Hertford?s hidden secrets. He said: ?
Hertford is very important as a centre of mystery and intrigue, more than most
people realise.?
Next week?s programme is one in a four-part series on conspiracy theories
showing every Thursday in September.

Paris Has a Secret Subterranean Underworld

Tuesday September 28, 2004 2:31 AM
By ELAINE GANLEY

Associated Press Writer

PARIS (AP) - The City of Light harbors a city of darkness, a vast network of
subterranean tunnels that once gave refuge to bandits, smugglers and saints, and
cradles the bones of some 6 million Parisians. Today, this eerie maze is the
haunt of living spirits, from youths looking for adventure to urban explorers
carving out a new frontier.

An underground movie house replete with bar and phone service, recently
discovered by police, is but a slice of the thriving underworld below Paris.

Some 185 miles of tunnels and underground passageways honeycomb the underbelly
of the city, most old quarries for the Lutecian limestone used to build the
French capital. Others house electricity and telephone cables.

In the deepest sphere, some 100 feet under, lie the catacombs, holding ancient
bones from overstocked cemeteries. Part of the catacombs are open to the public,
but dropping into the rest city of darkness is illegal and can be hazardous.

This is not a journey for the faint of heart. One way is a middle-of-the-night
descent through a manhole and down a ladder. Once inside, a sand-colored maze of
galleries, nooks and crannies unfolds. Ominous holes seem to descend to the
center of the Earth.

It's an all-weather trip that includes strolling, sloshing through mud and
slithering through narrow tunnels.

``Paris is a Mecca'' for underground exploration, said Lazar Kunstmann, a
spokesman for the group that set up a cinema across the Seine River from the
Eiffel Tower. The group has seven other subterranean sites, he said, refusing to
give details.

In the eternal night of underground Paris, secrecy is sacrosanct, creating a
subculture with its own code and names.

Slipping into the underground, social classes melt away, and ``there's a sense
of having a double life,'' said Patrick Aalk, a photographer with more than two
decades of experience as an urban explorer.

Like Lewis Carroll's Alice discovered when she fell through a rabbit hole, fear,
intrigue and wonder await the subterranean traveler. Instead of a tea party with
the Mad Hatter, there are parties by flashlight in dank, musty quarry rooms
bearing names like ``Byzance,'' ``the Cellar'' or ``Room Z.''

But this strange universe is being increasingly scarred by ``cataphiles'' who
daub graffiti on walls or leave beer cans behind. Some quarry rooms are covered
in paint, irking another breed of subterranean spirits who call themselves urban
explorers.

The police chief in charge of subterranean Paris fears the new generation of
fun-seekers is on a collision course with the urban explorers who regard the
underground as part of Paris' patrimony.

``It's a milieu that is becoming more and more mixed ... with some people who
can be in opposition to others,'' Commander Luc Rougerie told The Associated
Press.

Cataphiles have haunted the Paris underworld for decades, but the Aug. 23
discovery by police of the cinema, set up by an urban explorers' group calling
itself The Perforating Mexican, revealed just how sophisticated life below
ground has become.

The cinema seated about 30 people on benches carved from rock - and covered with
wood for comfort, according to Kunstmann. The complex included a bar, a
restaurant and some annex rooms for privacy.

A toilet drew water from the Trocadero gardens above, where ``there was a
permanent leak,'' said Kunstmann. Electricity was siphoned off by wrapping wires
around the state power company's cables, he said. ``The problem is not to leave
a trace on the electricity counter.''

According to Kunstmann, the cinema, finished some 18 months ago, was a
renovation of a crude theater built three years ago.

``There was a certain surprise'' when police found the movie house, Commander
Rougerie conceded.

A less sensational but more worrisome discovery was made across town, under the
high-security La Sante prison. There, several tunnels, once shut, were partially
reopened. Fears that prisoners were plotting an escape or, worse, that
terrorists had invaded the underground set off alarms.

In the end, ``we think it's amateurs of the underground looking for an old
passage,'' said Catherine Briguet, judicial police spokeswoman. There have been
no arrests, she said.

Rougerie warns of dangers, from thin air that can cause queasiness to cave-ins.
He cited cases of people falling into 30-foot-deep wells or getting lost. There
are no known deaths.

The catacombs have inspired writers from Victor Hugo to Gaston Leroux, whose
``Phantom of the Opera'' hid in ``that infernal underground maze.''

``When you go down, you enter the city's past. It's a voyage into the bowels of
the city,'' said Aalk, the photographer.

Through the ages, the catacombs have harbored an eclectic lot. In the 13th
century, bandits hid under the Chateau de Vauvert, now the Luxembourg Gardens,
and sorcerers used the quarries for black

A SINISTER secret society said to control the world?s governments has
members living in Hertford, according to a documentary to be aired on Sky One next

Cyprus Govt. Admits CIA Campaign Against Indymedia

by Cyprus Indymedia

The scandal is unfolding in gigantic proportions... and we can hardly keep
up with the developments. Responding to a publicity and solidarity campaign
by Indymedia, the Government of the Republic of Cyprus has been forced to
admit that they were acting under orders from the US Government to carry out
an intelligence investigation of Cyprus Indymedia and of one of its founding
members, Petros Evdokas, in order to assess whether he constitutes a threat
to US interests. Police had interrogated the family of Petros Evdokas a few
weeks ago and, during the affair, inadvertently blurted out that the source
of this investigation was a directive by the CIA. After a series of denials
and cover-ups (chronicled below) the Police Headquarters issued an official
statement on Friday admitting to everything that Indymedia had accused them
of, namely that directives of the CIA and the US Embassy have priority over
their own mission which, believe it or not, is to protect the tiny and
independent Republic from foreign intervention. This campaigns to intimidate
IndyMedia is part of a global trend, including the nation- wide pre-
emptive raids and interrogations by the FBI of radicals in Boston and
across the US in order to thwart preparations to protest at the two
Republocrat party conventions.

After a series of Government lies and denials about the case collapsed,
Members of the Parliament, the ruling Party, and member Parties of the
ruling coalition were drawn into the public dialogue and shamed into taking
a position on the issue. The Union of Editors - the most influential
institution of establishment journalism - issued a rare and scathing
critique of the way the affair is being handled demanding an investigation
and response from the Government.

And now the Minister of Justice and Public Order has been shamed into
issuing a written statement admitting to the facts, including a directive to
the Police in polite words which are equivalent to get back on the leash,
instructing them how to handle issues revolving around the right to free
expression.

Police had interrogated the family of Petros Evdokas a few weeks ago and,
during the affair, inadvertently blurted out that the source of this
investigation was a directive by the CIA. After a series of denials and

of, namely that directives of the CIA and the US Embassy have priority over
their own mission which, believe it or not, is to protect the tiny and
independent Republic from foreign intervention.

Cyprus IndyMedia, with the help of supporters and friends in the BiCommunal
Peace networks, the alternative and radical community, and with global
allies abroad, initiated a campaign for solidarity, for legal defense, and
to publicize the case with all of its curious twists and turns.

Throughout this last week there was increasing interest from newspapers on
the island which began to publish small news items presenting our case. By
mid- week it was front page news with giant headlines in one newspaper. On
Friday, Cyprus IndyMedia and the Evdokas family held a joint Press
Conference, which was attended by about half of the establishment media, and
IndyMedia's own reporters of course. Friends and allies attended as well, to
express support.

On Friday night the case was on the major news reports of two television
stations. One of those two stations is the biggest in the country in terms
of audience numbers and political power - it belongs to the State! During
that news show, statements were made

October 2004In an essay of the new October Issue of "Harper's Magazine", editor and professor Benjamin DeMott describes, "how the 9/11 Commission Report defrauds the nation" .
DeMott is also author of the books "The Imperial Middle" and "The Trouble With Friendship"
DeMott seems to go a bit further, than just outrage about "negligence".Here are some excerpts from his 12-pages (!) essay:"..this was the promise, after all: answers. Answers in return for serious attention...The Promise was not kept. The plain, sad reality-i report this following for full days studying the work -is that The 9/11 Commission Report, despite the vast quantity of labor behind it, is a cheat and a fraud.
It stands as a series of evasive maneuvers that infantalize the audience, transform candor into iniquity, and conceal realities that demand immediate inspection and confrontation.Because it is continously engaged in scotching all attempts to distinguish better from worse leadership responses, the Commission can't discharge its duty to educate the audience about the habits of mind and temperament essential in those to discharge command responsibility during crises. It can't tell the truth about what was done and not done, thought and not thought, at crucial turning points... (to be continued...) ..the 567 pages, which purport to provide definitive interpretations of the reactions, are in fact useless to historians, because seeming terror of bias transforms query after commissarial query after commissarial query -and silence after silence -into suggested new lines of self-justification for the interviewees. In the course of blaming everyone a
little, the Commission blames nobody -blurs the reasons for the actions and hesitations of successive administrations, masks choices that, fearlessly defined, might actually have vitalized our public discourse...
...there's little mystery about why the Commission is tongue-tied. It can't call a liar a liar.
The most momentous subject before the 9/11 Commission was: What did President Bush know about the Al Qaeda threat to the United States, when did he know it, and if he knew little, why so?..conceivably it was at or near the moment when Bush took his position that the members of the Commission who heard him grasped that casting useful light on the relation between official conduct and national unprepardness would be impossible. The reason? The President's claim was untrue. It was a lie, and the Commissioners realized they couldn't allow it to be seen as a lie..nevertheless the chief executive, seated before the Commission, declared: Nobody told me. And challenging the chief executive as a liar entailed an unthinkable cost -the possible rending of the nations social and political fabric...
...The President told us the August 6 report was historical in natureEach paragraph of the Bin Laden briefing is directed not at the past but at the present or future...
...The Commissioners have heard that Bush received more than forty briefings naming Al Quaeda as a danger..The President expressed himself to National Security Adviser Rice in March or April of 2001 as 'tired of swatting at flies' and, on the same occasion, declared that he wanted 'to play offense...(wanted) to take the flight to the terrorists'...(to be continued...) __Do You Yahoo!?Tired of spam? Subject: ACADEMY : Hegel's triadic triangles

From: Susanna Åkerman

Date: 29 Sep 2001

Dear Academy,

Since we are discussing triangles

I want to draw attention to the philosopher Hegel

who at one point in the Philosophy of Right (1821)

 said

Reason is the rose in the cross of the present

influenced by the Gold

und Rosencreutz Orden in his Berlin period.

This has been interestingly debated in

 Hegel and the Hermetic Tradition

   (Cornell University Press 2001 )

  by Glenn Alexander Magee

of Emory University in Atlanta, Georgia.

He interestingly shows Boehmes' influence

 on the young philosopher Hegel

   and reproduces the below Triangle

in Triangles , described earlier

by Helmut Schneider Zur Dreiecks symbolik bei Hegel

   Hegel studien 8 1973 p. 55-77.

The diagram cannot be dated but was found among Hegels
papers.

There is a textual fragment that could have been the
reason for Hegel's drawing showing the trinity in
connection with the dialectic of Subjective, Objective
and Absolute concepts.

This is discussed in at Magee's text p. 110-113.

He refers to Schneider who argues it is
Neo-Paracelsian, neo-Agrippean and neo-Boehmian.

Both authors are however lost in decoding the drawing
and its sigels.

Can we do better on the list?

The S in spiritus is drawn in pencil, perhaps
reflecting a red letter in some original.

It is uncertain whether Hegel himself drew it

to shed light on his dialectic

or whether he is copying something.

Magee's book is from a philosophical point of view
excellent in making grey and tiresome concepts glow.

Subject: ACADEMY : Hegel's triadic triangles

From: Susanna Åkerman
Date: 17 Oct 2001

There is a written triangle fragment in Hegel's
papers first described by Karl Rosencrantz in 1844

and translated in H. S. Harris'

  Hegel's development: Night thoughts

 (part 2, 1983 Oxford UP,

first part is called Towards the Sunlight
1972).

However it speaks of two triangles and is not directed
towards this triadic triangle.

Also Karin Figala writes about the Die alchemische
Begriff von Capuut mortuum bei Hegel in der
symbolischen Terminologie Hegels in Stuttgarter
Hegel-Tage 1970 edited by H. G. Gadamer Bonn 1974.

To explain the point of triangles I can only say that
Hegel thinks of the trinity and its manifestations
first as love and then on a deeper level as the
Spirit-coming-to-consciousness-of-itself.

 I recommend you Magee's book

since I am unable to summarize Hegel's thinking.

Schneider means the drawing

is neo-Pythagorean

but Magee roots it in Hermeticism.

Herder, Hegel and Novalis all studied in Tübingen,
earlier home of Johann Valentin Andreae, and they are
influenced in various ways by mystics such and Franz
von Baader, Oetinger and the pietists.

Secret Evidence is an essay-sized chapbook that asks hard questions
about the most important trials of the 9/11 Terrorism suspects.

  http://69.28.73.17/commonsense/secretevidence.html

On 9/11, 3000 people were murdered, and three years later, even with
unlimited police state budgets, using torture and the Gulag, there is
not one conviction! There's a pattern here: they make arrests with
massive publicity and press conferences, but when the cases go to
court, they have all fallen flat (to the point of derision by judges,
or in one case, even by the prosecutor)! We look at the detention and
rendering of Maher Arar, the key trials of Lotfi Raissi in the UK, and
Abdelghani Mzoudi in Germany, and what may be the trial of the century
despite the mass-media blackout, that of the so-called 20th hijacker,
Zacarais Moussaoui.

The families of the victims of 9/11 all around the world want justice,
as do all the other victims of the never-to-end War on Terror, and if
justice is to be served, then any trial of anyone accused in the
massacres of 9/11 must be a free, fair, open and credible trial. It is
not only that we hold the presumption of innocence so dear, no matter
what the nature of the crime: open trials may be the only chance we
have of finding out what is really happening. The governments of
Canada, Australia, the US and the UK have gone to extraordinary
lengths to convince their respective publics that they need to roll
back many the key judicial protections of the Common Law dating back
to Magna Carta in their fight against a perfect enemy, but the tall
tales that they spun in major terrorism cases dissolved into
nothingness the moment any light was shed on it.

In fact, the governments have little to show for it other than life
sentences for Muslims playing paintball:

* In Arar's case, there was no evidence at all, and they rendered him
for torture based on information from someone who had been tortured.

* In Lofti Raissi's case, there was no evidence at all, and no
replacement for the role of trainer of the 9/11 hijackers has been
  put forward.

* In Mzoudi's case, they failed to get a conviction, even though he
was the roommate of the supposed ringleader of 9/11, when the US
government produced no evidence in court.

* The evidence they were going to use against Mzoudi, and will use
against Moussaoui, is from people held in the Gulag that may be
dead, not captured, or who never even existed,

* FBI field agents felt that FBI headquarters were actually working
  for Osama bin Laden.

* Moussaoui says the FBI directly took part in the conspiracy of September 11.

Abu Zubaydah, the most senior Al Qaida official captured thus far in
the War on Terror, says that they had nothing to do with 9/11, which
is disconcerting to say the least for those who believe in the Ali Bin
Laden and the 20 Hijackers fairy tale of 9/11. Moussaoui has demanded
that he be produced from where he is being held in the American Gulag,
to testify at his trial, but the government is invoking Ashcroft's
infamous enemy combatant magic that makes all Common Law and
International Treaty Law simply disappear, to claim that anything the
detainees have said, or will ever say, is classified!

It's not just that the ability to use Secret Evidence tempts the
governments operating in the shadows to use torture, to destroy any
concept of privacy, and/or to violate the hard-earned democratic
rights going all the way back to Magna Carta. Using Secret Evidence,
they can fabricate legends, and there is no mechanism in place for
so-called democracies to know what's really happening. They can
conjure up enemies using testimony from people that may be dead, not
in custody, or not even exist.

And if Moussaoui is right, by using Secret Evidence, the Shadow
Government will obscure the

U.S. Domestic:RatherGate, how much scripted?: CBS and Dan Rather "apologized"
Posted by admin on 2004/9/22 19:02:38 (4925 reads)

Update (09/22): Rathergate.com was created on 09/10, one week before CBS "realised" their mistake. Registered by Mike Krempasky, who recently disclosed, that he is the political director for American Target Advertising, a Virginia firm run by Richard Viguerie, the conservative strategist widely credited with inventing political direct mail and helping Ronald Reagan and numerous other Republicans get elected. NOTE: The quote, that Krempasky also said, that he is "using Roger Stone's email system" for one of his California statewide campaigns, is based on a wrong investigation by an online blogger.
