Re: [CTRL] Contrails

1999-03-05 Thread Scott Bourassa

 -Caveat Lector-

Forgive me if I'm insulting everyone's intelligence, but if someone on the west
coast could maybe start carrying their video camera, they could stand to expose
this charade to the wider populace, and make a substantial sum of money in the
process. If the contrails *are* being laid out in a criss-cross pattern, by up
to thirty military aircraft at a time, even local media is bound to ask a few
questions (and when they do, coverage'll be sold to the major networks). And,
as they do for those who obtain video coverage of storms and robberies, they'll
probably pay you a large sum of money for your VHS tape...

Just a thought,

Sgt Bee

Subject:[CTRL] Contrails

 -Caveat Lector-

These posts came in from another list I'm on. Almost everyone on this other
list lives
on the west coast--from Southern California to Washington State.and all
have been
reporting significant contrail activity

Hello Everyone,
This is probably just a coincidence, but I got so aggravated with Los
Angeles having so many contrail patterns, 24 hr day--I called my my
congresman and reported it. At the same time, a friend of mine in the
Valley called her congressman and reported it--the aid she spoke with
immediately knew what she was talking about--said he had been in Santa
Monica and it looked terrible- WHEN WE CALLED THERE WERE AT LEAST 30
PLANES DOING THEIR CONTRAIL THING...AN HOUR LAATER THERE WERE
NONE AND
THEY HAVE NOT BEEN BACK-IT HAS BEEN TWO DAYS NOW...NO CONTRAILS!!
I'm sure it is just a coincidence, but I think I'll call again when
they
return!!
Take care everyone, XX, Santa Monica

*
They are now blanketing all of LA County from the looks of them. High,
wide, parallel, with one at about a 30 degree angle to the rest. As
someone said, it looks a bit like tic-tac-toe in the sky.

So, what the HELL is it? I'm becoming concerned.

Excuse me Bill, but isn't the pot calling the kettle a darker shade of grey
here? I won't even attempt to deny the story, but by wrapping your
Anti-semitic views in a book report offered by the NY Post, you seriously
underestimate our Bull-Shit Detectors. I myself am "goyim", but I've been to
Israel; I spent six months traveling back and forth between the Golan heights
and the Sinai Desert, what about you? Y'know who funds more of Israel's
efforts than anyone else? Americans and their wonderful government (I've heard
estimates that range from $20-60Bil). Do you know why? A great number of the
individuals who send money are of Jewish origin, and do so to help their
'brethren', and secure their history. The American government assists the
Israelis for the sole (soul?) purpose of controlling the Middle East; by
installing a friendly government into an already troubled country, and then
dumping billions of dollars into their economy; by building the major road
surfaces in and around Tel Aviv; and by sending them surplus or outdated (but
still newer and more capable than their enemies') military tanks and
helicopters for free, they have managed to effectively control the situation in
the Middle East like puppet masters. They've been doing it since '73, and with
close to 2000 ground troops and airmen stationed in the Sinai, and an entire
fleet in the Med, they're not about to stop soon.

It's long been suggested that the Foreign Policy of the US is to carve the
world up into regions, and seemingly support an underdog in each region; while
influencing their government, they ply them with money and gifts, free up
everyone's trade ports, and get the neighbors off their backs. The next thing
you know, India's building a nuclear arsenal to wipe out the American influence
(infidel?) next door in Pakistan.

Why would the US government do it? To keep America consuming. Our economy
thrives on the backs of the thirld world countries that produce for us to
consume. Want a real kick? Take a look at where Korea, Israel, Pakistan,
Iraq, and Cuba are on a globe sometime. Note the surrounding countries and
their names. Then keep an eye open on the products you buy; the little gold
sticker in your shoes, under your coffee mug, or sewn into your Tommy jeans.
Chances are, the US is suppressing that country by fueling it's sworn enemy.

I've seen it with my own eyes, not through the filthy gauze of marketecture
that CNN veils it's cameras with... You should try pulling the Anti-Semitic
cob-webs from your eyes. Racism died in the seventees; while people like
yourself are wasting their energy fighting against any given race or culture,
the real culprits are getting away.

I don't expect you to agree with what I've written (racists seldom take
criticism well), but I ask that you take a long hard look at everything you
believe before you espouse it to the masses. Ask yourself why you believe it,
what evidence suggests otherwise, and if you're falling into a generalist
trap. Throw your proverbial pasta against the wall now and then, and see what
sticks.

I don't think you're a *bad* person, just a disinformed, uneducated one.

Regards,

Sgt Bee...

[CTRL] The moral of the story...

1999-03-02 Thread Scott Bourassa

 -Caveat Lector-

A short while ago, someone's post made me want to send the following article to
the list. As usual,
by the time I found it, the thread had died a natural death, but here's hoping
it's humourous morals
are still relevant to our cause...

Sgt Bee...

A little bird was flying south for the winter. It got so cold it froze up
and fell to the ground in a large field. While it was lying there, a cow
came by and dropped some dung on it.

As it lay there in the pile of cow dung, it began to realize how warm it
was. The dung was actually thawing him out! He lay there all warm and happy,
and soon began to sing for joy.

A passing cat heard the little bird singing, and came to investigate.
Following the sound, the cat discovered the bird under the pile of cow dung,
and promptly dug him out and then ate him.

The morals of the story are:

1. Not everyone who drops shit on you is your enemy...
2. Not everyone who gets you out of shit is your friend...
3. When you're in deep shit, keep your mouth shut!

Re: [CTRL] WHAT'S REALLY GOING ON IN HOLLYWOOD - your reality check's bouncing...

1999-02-23 Thread Scott Bourassa

 -Caveat Lector-

Why is it that the only time the list ever hears from me, is when I'm asking
for comments, or shooting some one down for something that just seems dumb.

To the person who started this thread, and those who continued to build upon it
(especially the anti-semitic commentaries) - give yer head a shake! Hollywood,
IMHO, can be accused of a great many things, but setting up the *world* for
subservancy to a Jewish super-power is not one of them! Do you really have
that little confidence in humanity? What you're suggesting is ludicrous, not
because the 'Jews' are behind it (who, I might add, are as capable as any other
sub-culture), but because you firmly believe that people would flock to movie
theaters in the droves that they obviously do, for the sole purpose of being
subverted! Why would a proud Texan pay $8.00 to sit through a movie that, for
the next two hours is going to berate him and his upbringing? And more
interestingly, if I'm not from Texas, have never known anyone from Texas, and
see a great number of Hollywood films per year, why do I not think badly of
Texans?

I come from a relatively right-wing city of 900,000 mostly normal, intelligent
people (and aside from the population of the city, I think that description
could be applied to most of the cities you know). One of our local public
theaters, run by local gov't, once hired as their CEO of the theater, an
extremely liberal, gay rights activist. Almost instantly, every musical,
balet, or Shakespearian play, became a soap box for preaching tolerance and
acceptance of gays in our schools, churches, supermarkets, etc.. Personally,
I've got a couple of friends who are gay, and the idea didn't bother me the way
it seemed to affect others. But then - I don't go to a lot of plays either.
As I'm sure you can guess, people reacted to the change after only a couple of
plays, the press eventually coloured it bad, and the theater's managing
director found himself unable to sustain much of an audience after about a
year. Capitalism prevailed, he's been released of his duties, the theater's
showing themes more relevant to the local modern culture, and people are going
to plays again.

Summary - I think there are two things wrong with the hypothesis that I'm
seeing throughout your anti-wood thread:
   1. You think we're all empty skulled idiots, hopelessly waiting for
someone to fill our vacant craniums and point us in the 'right' direction (pun
intended).
   2. You also think that you're intelligent enough to wrap your anti-semitic
views in a cloak of horror, and pass them off as conspiracies.

Well, at the risk of sounding a little nasty: I'm not an idiot, and although
I'm an athiest who disagrees with the very idea of organized religions, I find
most of this anti-semetic thread offensive and absurd.

Re: [CTRL] Tobacco

1999-02-12 Thread Scott Bourassa

 -Caveat Lector-

Y'know - you had me... right up until the last line. Why would the "police
state" intentionally push a product onto the black market where, as you
illustrate so clearly, they would receive no tax dollars from it? Waging the
publicity war against a product such as tobacco would have to be for someone's
gain (a point could easily be made that society is to gain, but as I am also a
smoker, I'll claim the American 5th). Let's look at your logic for a second
here...

You seem to be ascerting that sugar consumption directly causes diabetes.
Diabetes info can be found quite easily (the following excerpt was taken
directly from the ADA web-page at: http://www.diabetes.org/ada/diabetesinfo.asp
), and confirms what I've always felt to be true - the anti-sugar thing I was
plagued with as a glucose junkie pre-teen, is nothing but urban legend. I
distinctly remember my mother telling me I'd wake up blind one day (diabetes
*can* eventually lead to blindness) from all the sugar I heaped on my
Coco-Puffs...
What Causes Type 1 Diabetes?
We do not know exactly what causes diabetes. We do know that people inherit a
tendency to get diabetes. But not all people who have this tendency will get
the disease. Other things such as illnesses must also come into play for
diabetes to begin.

Immune-mediated diabetes (formerly called insulin-dependent diabetes) is a
disease that affects the way your body uses food. Immune-mediated diabetes is
also called type 1 diabetes. In type 1 diabetes your body destroys the cells
in the pancreas that produce insulin, usually leading to a total failure to
produce insulin. It typically starts in children or young adults who are slim,
but can start at any age. Without insulin, your body cannot control blood
levels of sugar. And without insulin, you would die. So people with type 1
diabetes give themselves at least one shot of insulin every day.

Ok - so, by this definition, after you've already contracted Type 1 Diabetes,
you can't handle your sugar. Sugar didn't cause a problem until after you
became diabetic.

What about Type 2 Diabetes?
Type 2 diabetes used to be called non-insulin-dependent diabetes. The most
common type of diabetes, it affects about 15 million Americans. Nine out of ten
cases of diabetes are type 2. It usually occurs in people over 45 and
overweight, among other factors.

When you have type 2 diabetes, your body does not make enough insulin. Or, your
body still makes insulin but can't properly use it. Without enough insulin,
your body cannot move blood sugar into the cells. Sugar builds up in the
bloodstream. High blood levels of sugar can cause problems.

Medical experts do not know the exact cause of type 2 diabetes. They do know
type 2 diabetes runs in families. A person can inherit a tendency to get type 2
diabetes. But it usually takes another factor such as obesity to bring on the
disease.

Again, by the definition given above, I don't believe a person's intake of
sugar (none, normal or vast quantities) has a direct effect on their
contraction of diabetes.

Lastly, there's one other type of Diabetes recognized by the ADA:

What Is Gestational Diabetes?
Pregnant women who have never had diabetes before but who have high blood
glucose levels during pregnancy are said to have gestational diabetes.
Gestational diabetes affects about 4 percent of all pregnant women, about
135,000 cases in the United States each year.

Again - sugar intake is not indicated as being the cause of diabetes.

On to Stevia, your solution to the evils of sugar...
This one was a little more difficult to find 'real' information on, and nowhere
could I find someone saying it was any better for you than natural cane sugar.
Though Stevia has not been approved for use in the United States by the FDA,
because of inadeqate information to demonstrate its safety as a food additive,
it is available in health food stores and on the internet for personal use.
These businesses get around the FDA's ban on using stevia as a sweetener, by
misrepresenting that they sell stevia as a "dietary supplement," which is not
subject to the existing food additive regulations.

The medical advisors at Children with Diabetes are unaware of any valid use of
stevia as a "dietary supplement" as it contains nothing of nutritional value.

My own personal feelings on the subject are (please bear in mind that this and
the following paragraph culminate years of subscribing to men's health
magazines and journals; I am not a dietician, just someone with a crude plan
thats work pretty well for me) that if all we wanted out of a sweetner was
sweetness, the world probably would've adopted this Stevia stuff long ago
through the normal commercial manner (Dow Chemical would've patented a
synthetic version of it). But the interesting thing about it is that Sugar
provides us with tons of quick-burning energy, and that's what we crave when we
look for something sweet. Heck - I know I'm guilty - every day I take anywhere
