In dry reality, I tend to agree with Howard on this. The relationship between
Jefferson and Adams was a fascinating one: revolutionary heroes and friends
who became fierce political enemies, then much later in life rediscovered
their old friendship...it would not surprise me if what Howard suggests was
not what actually happened.
