The question of whether Shrub ever used cocaine is not really the important
question, and I notice the media is beginning to focus almost exclusively on
it. What we should really be investigating is what he has done as Governor
of Texas. That, much more than the possibility of his ever using cocaine, is
the thermometer that will tell us just what kind of president he might make.
I don't trust any of the Bush family, but in particular I distrust their
always sidestepping the important questions by handing the media a "chewy."

What kind of Governor is Bush Jr ? we are finding out.

He sure doesnt like the tough questionshe is the ONLY candidate that
refused to answer the cocaine question. Clinton at least would give you
a tightly defined legalese answer. This guy just refuses to answer !
Thats an insult.and pretty dumb too.. Guaranteed to fire up the press
and the public.

It is the cover up that hurts, not the truth. Bush should fire his
advisers and get some people with their feet on the ground.

Why? It's just one more way for the political weasels to avoid taking

How "typical" can he get?! This is a classic politician's dodge of a question
if I ever heard one. This guy is such a transparent liar it's pathetic. His
"spin doctors" have coached him well regarding this inevitable question
coming up.
"Don't deny it, just give a lame excuse as to why you won't answer the
question"
This is how it may have been put to the spoiled brat by his nitwit crew.
How ironic, daddy brings the stuff in to the country, while preaching to the
public about the alleged drug war he's so much behind. His father was a liar
of huge proportions, and so is he.

Bush Refuses to Answer Rumors of Cocaine Use

Well .. isn't THAT a surprise! Considering how much cocaine G.W.'s father
AND Bill Clinton were and are responsible for bringing into OUR country
continually since the wild days of the "drugs for guns" offshoot of the
"Iran-Contra" outrage, it's clear that due to such unlimited access to
same white powder, G.W.'s nose for many years bore a close resemblance to
a vacuum cleaner--make that a top-of-the-line 10-HP Shop-Vac in fact.

I know one reason Mr. Bush refuses to answer any questions about just how
MANY kilos of coke he's funneled into his still-tender nostrils is that
clear, unmistakable photos of Bush engaged in just such an endeavor have
now been made public.

Unless he has a clone out there (which of course he probably DOES) then
what the heck can he SAY?

This is just one MORE of the many things that "Republicrat" Bill Clinton
and "Democan" G.W. Bush have in common. Some of the other things I
guarantee you don't even want to hear about.

Bush Refuses To Answer Rumors of Cocaine Use

WASHINGTON (Reuters) - Gov. George Bush Saturday said accusations that he had used cocaine when he was younger were ''unsubstantiated and ugly rumors'' but refused to say outright whether he had ever used the substance.

Speaking in an interview on cable news station CNN the front-runner for the Republican presidential nomination said he would never answer the question which has begun to dog his almost perfect campaign in recent days.

``I understand that by refusing to play the Washington, D.C., game of gossip people may draw certain conclusions about me but ... it's time for some politician to stand up and say 'enough is enough of this,''' Bush said of the cocaine questions which have surfaced in almost all of his recent interviews.

``The game of trying to force me to prove a negative and to chase down unsubstantiated and ugly rumors has got to end.''

Asked whether he would ever answer the question, the Texas governor replied, ``It's not the only rumor. The minute you answer one question they float another rumor. I know how the game works, I saw it first hand and I ain't playing,'' he said adding that the political ``process ought to be cleaned up.''

Bush, the son of former President George Bush, declined on a number of occasions to speak about what he did when he was younger. His usual response was to say, ``When I was young and irresponsible, I behaved that way. I'm not going to inventory what I did.''

He has acknowledged heavy drinking but said he gave up alcohol many years ago.

Bush has referred to the probing into the private lives of politicians as ``trash-mouth politics.''

Bush's silence on the subject became a campaign issue after the New York Daily News asked 12 presidential hopefuls if they had ever used cocaine. Bush was alone in not answering the question.

Richard Lowry, editor of National Review, told the Washington Post earlier this week, ``Most people conclude if he can't answer no, there must be some problem.''

Bush's aides claim that to answer such questions would merely lend credence to unfounded rumors.

President Clinton and Vice President Al Gore, the leading Democratic contender, have admitted trying marijuana. Clinton was elected as president despite telling voters he had tried the drug but ``not inhaled,'' but use of cocaine could have a more damaging affect on a candidate's poll ratings.

Bush, who is head and shoulders above other Republican presidential hopeful in both the polls and fund raising, was expected to win a straw poll in Iowa Saturday. ++ Copyright ©1999 Reuters News Service.
