I still have scars from tangling with Bill Cooper, for example...and no one who experienced it will ever forget the great Christian Identity flap. Generally we manage to keep the discussion more or less on an even keel, and the regular posters are relatively sane [ouch! damn aluminum-foil helmet keeps poking me in the ear! STOP THAT!!!]. When we get outright racists and Nazi wannabes who are pursuing a deliberate agenda, it's pretty clear that they have come on the list with the objective of taking it over. That is the precise reason for the "Declaration and Disclaimer"...and for the "Caveat Lector" at the beginning of every post. CTRL as an online community can continue to exist only to the extent that we all observe mutual restraint and forebearance. Sure, a lot of the posts that show up here are going to be edgy. By definition, CTRL is on the fringe both intellectually and politically. It's one of the very few places around where you can say controversial and unpopular things without being flamed or sued or both. The prohibition on anti-Semitism, Nazism, and related ideologies exists because we have seen firsthand that the purveyors of those beliefs are not interested in dialogue. They are interested only in propagandizing and self-promotion. And *that* is the precise antithesis of what CTRL is about. Bob ================================= Robert F. These are sordid matters and 'conspiracy theory', with its many half-truths, misdirections and outright frauds is used politically by different groups with major and minor effects spread throughout the spectrum of time and thought. That being said, CTRL gives no endorsement to the validity of posts, and always suggests to readers; be wary of what you read. CTRL gives no credeence to Holocaust denial and nazi's need not apply.
