Samantha, you didn't read what I wrote. I said *one faction* of the NWO favored
synthetic medicines over natural ones... My implication was that this
particular faction is interested more in protecting the endangered ecosystem
than in promoting individual liberty. *This* is why they support the
pharmaceutical industry, not because they necessarily support business--they
tend to regard it as messy and inconvenient and rather prefer state
monopolies--but because manmade medicines don't require plundering rainforests
these particular NWO types regard as sacrosanct. I'm not talking about
cultivated herbals; there are many which do not survive cultivation, or which
lose their efficacy when cultivated, and these are still being harvested in the
wild.

This NWO faction may be allied to the Prince Philip-WWF group who appear to be
interested in depopulating Africa, if speculation seen on this list some time
ago is correct.

In any event, my response to Amelia's post was REALLY designed to show how such
a post could indeed be legitimate material for conspiracy theory.

What it has to do with conspiracy: The pharmaceutical companies, with
their interlocking boards of directors, are conspiring to create a
monopoly, with all people dependent upon THEM for the supply of
medicines. That way, they can suck our wallets dry. It's the same
reasoning behind elimination of non-hybrid seeds, GM foods, and
anti-breastfeeding propaganda, to name a few of their tricks.

I don't understand that argument. First of all, who ever accused Big
Business of being concerned about the ecosystem? Secondly, these herbs are
cultivated more often that wildcrafted.

I'm glad some of the major pharmaceuticals are selling herbs. They are an
undeniably powerful lobby and Codex may have less of a chance because of them.

I've seen this report before; it appears legitimate. Now to the conspiracy
connections: first, ALL of the big pharmaceutical firms have their own lines of
"natural" remedies either on the shelves now or ready to go. Second, consider
the Codex Alimentarius factor--will natural/herbal remedies still be allowed
when the entire planet has come under the Codex? I suspect that the NWO, or
rather the faction of it that's pushing the Codex, favors synthesized medicines
over herbal ones, partly because there is less potential risk to endangered
species and ecosystems, especially in the tropical rain forests.

Frankly, I don't think it does in terms of any "conspiracy" that i know of -
although many 'Conspiracy Theorists' are extremely DEPRESSIVE personalities
(ggg)!

Major pharmaceutical companies are attempting to prevent
> free access to alternatives to their products.

Perhaps I'm mistaken, but looking on my common supermarket shelves, St Johns
Wort is readily available for purchase, and some of it is bottled and
marketed by well-to-do and known pharmaceutical companies.

One I think ought be at least a tad cautious in this day and age, particular
those addicted to, or imbibing heavy doses of the "conspiracy" milieu who
seem to blindly leap into anything simply because it is badged as
"ALTERNATIVE," or "secret knowledge," or "conspiracy."

This area is now largely penetrated and dominated by "BIG CORP" and the use
of the above euphemisms is little more than SMART MARKETING to the loony
Esoteric, neo-Gnostic, Anarchist, Voguish, dippy New-Age-Oprah oddballs, and
so on and so forth types, who are besotted with such "alternative"
lip-homage placebos.

I've heard people speak well of the stuff that have used it, against some of
the addictive, and side-issues of the pharma-chemical concoctions they also
tried - but I don't know if there have been any serious long term or
scientific studies done?

Let's see--I am supposed to announce whether or not I believe this. I have
not decided as yet. And that is what the "Caveat Lector" is all about. Plus
my personal beliefs are none of anybody else's business. How does this tie
into conspiracies? Major pharmaceutical companies are attempting to prevent
free access to alternatives to their products. These products could be
