Smith Thursday, Sept. 13, 2001 Osama bin Laden is an American creation. He worked for the CIA as a freedom fighter during the Soviet invasion of Afghanistan. Bin Laden is well trained in the arts of secure communications, unconventional warfare, and he even knows how to fire the U.S.-made Stinger missile; all gratis the Central Intelligence Agency. If anyone had a lead on bin Laden it should have been the CIA. The CIA has extensive contacts inside Afghanistan and Pakistan. Yet, the CIA missed his attack on the USS Cole. The CIA relies on the NSA and its great ring of American listening satellites. The NSA missed the Pakistan nuclear tests and did not intercept bin Laden until after the events of Sept. 11. Where Is the NSA? The super-secret National Security Agency has grown deaf over the years but not due to advancement of Internet technology. As former NSA Director Adm. McConnell noted, the NSA is overwhelmed by the absolute volume of messages. If you intercept a hundred million messages a day, which do you try to read? Attempts to blame the Internet and not being able to read bin Laden's e-mail are lame excuses for wasting billions on ineffective equipment and software. Satellites are great at tracking military targets but are useless against a terrorist cell that uses hand written notes carried by trusted couriers. Why are the directors of the CIA and NSA still in place? Why has CIA head George Tenet not tendered his resignation like Adm. Kimmel after Pearl Harbor? Former FBI Director Louis Freeh has much responsibility to bear for not detecting and preventing this act. Freeh and his boss at the Department of Justice, Janet Reno, turned the federal law enforcement system into an international joke. The spectacular failures of the FBI under Freeh's directorship are too numerous to mention except one. Freeh placed his trusted associate Robert Hanssen into his last position with the FBI as counter-intelligence director in New York City. The same Robert Hannsen later confessed to being a Russian spy. If anyone is not qualified to comment on what to do after September 11 - it is Louis Freeh. Where is the FAA? The FAA should have stopped the attack at the airports. Yet, the FAA is also known as the "tombstone" agency for good reason. It is not designed as a law enforcement agency, but it has the security responsibility for airports. Again, the warnings were there. FAA and GAO investigators have been able to easily penetrate secure areas inside U.S. airports and critical air control facilities. "In assessing the adequacy of computer security at the FAA earlier this year we found significant weaknesses that compromise the integrity of FAA's air traffic control operations," states a 1998 GAO testimony. "This review resulted in a number of findings too sensitive to discuss in today's open hearing; accordingly, my statement will refer only to findings and recommendations contained in the unclassified version of our limited official use report. We can tell you openly, though, that we found evidence of air traffic control systems that had been penetrated, and critical ATC data had been compromised." The Air Force has horrible communications with the FAA. The very first role of the U.S. Air Force is to control American airspace. The USAF failed. A city air and missile defense system is clearly necessary. U.S. air defense has suffered decades of neglect. Our cities and critical industries are vulnerable to air and missile attack. The Air Force must keep an active strip alert aircraft ready to intercept incoming attacks. This will require more pilots, more planes and more training. Fighter pilots must have the standing authority to shoot down a hijacked airliner if necessary. We must also institute area defense of critical targets. We saw Patriot missiles outside of Tel Aviv. We now see an Aegis missile warship sitting just off the waters of New York. U.S. Air Force, Navy and Marine jet fighters are flying constant patrols in and around the shores of America. Perhaps it is time for a Patriot battery or two in metropolitan areas and at critical sites. The restarting of the sky marshal program is clearly needed, but that is simply not enough. The next attack will come in an unexpected location. The training to be passive hostages is over. The actions of a brave few in the sky over Pennsylvania may have saved thousands on the ground and it now serves as an example. We must fight back. It is not time to sit idle and let the thugs take over but band together to fight for our very lives. THE MOUTH THAT BORED Mynamar (Burma)- Vice President Al "Bore" Gore took time to criticize the tiny far-eastern dictatorship about human rights abuses, during the recent APEC conference. Mynamar is now showing they are not willing to simply cave in and have started to play their own "China" card. Mynamar quietly responded to the Veep blowing wind by deploying two of its Chinese built Hoxin class guided missile boats. The MAGA and her sister ship SAITTRA deployed in simulated missile attacks against U.S. forces directly after Gore's critical comments. The tiny Mynamar Navy obtained a half dozen of the 478-ton Houxin class missile boats from China between 1996 and 1997. Each ship is to be armed with four C.801 (CSS-N-4) Chinese cruise missiles, codenamed "Sardine" by NATO. Mynamar had decided to not arm the boats after being pressed by the Clinton administration. However, Asian defense analysts now expect Mynamar to acquire the Chinese made C.801 missiles because of the Gore tirade. PRETTY SOON - NO MORE DISSIDENTS Beijing China - During his last visit to China, Gore toasted Chinese President Jiang Zemin with champagne. The signal given by Gore is that America will not tolerate any half-efforts to abuse human rights... Only full scale, Orwellian nightmare, oppression on a massive scale is acceptable. Given the Gore green light - red China has begun another round of arrests, bringing the recent total to 15 dissidents taken by communist police squads in the past two weeks. Two more dissidents, Lou Yugen and Wie Linwen, were detained by the People's Armed Police (PAP) over the weekend. PAP units claim they are cleaning up subversive elements in Chinese society and have charged many dissidents with attempting to overthrow the communist rule. Punishment for dissent in China can range from five years in a forced labor camp to death by firing squad. DEAD MONEY == Seattle Washington - Boeing's recent announcements of major cuts in their labor force are the only first round of bad news for the aerospace giant. Lower than expected earnings from declining Asian sales projections have forced the Washington based company to shed over 48,000 jobs. Market analysts say Boeing is "in turmoil" and unable to re-organized because of mismanagement. Morgan Stanley analyst Pierre Chao said that anyone with Boeing stock is essentially "sitting on dead money". Boeing is now expected to put its helicopter division up for sale. The Boeing chopper company has several big defense contracts such as the new Army Commanche light attack helicopter. WINNER DECLARED BUT NO CONTEST == Moscow - The Kremlin - According to the Russian weapons manufacturer Zvezda-Strella, Boeing is keen to procure a new batch of the Russian KH-31 missiles after "winning the U.S. Navy competition" to develop a new supersonic target with sea-skimming flight trajectory. The Boeing win of the Navy contract comes as news to the U.S. Navy which is not expected to release a "RFP" for the super-sonic aerial target until May 1999. The claims left U.S. defense officials scrambling to explain why the Russians think they have won a contract that has yet to be issued. Russian military officials have put a temporary hold on selling missiles to Boeing for conversion into U.S. Navy target drones. Boeing has sent letters to Russian First Deputy Prime Minister Yury Masijukov and First Deputy Defense Minister Nikola Mikhailov begging for a meeting. The Russian military is using local national security concerns to drive up the missile price. The Russian Generals currently earn 28% of each sale. The papers are now filled with new stories linking CIA
operatives passing information to Hughes. Capitol Hill insiders
say the source for the CIA leaks is the White House. The word
being circulated through the halls of Congress is that Clinton
is miffed at CIA Director Tenet for opposing the export of
Johnathan Pollard (crypto spy) to Israel.
Tenet reportedly threatened to walk if the Israeli spy is
released in a U.S. deal for the West Bank. White House insiders
are said to be leaking the new information to embarrass the CIA
Director into a possible resignation.
Meanwhile, Congress is offering Hughes engineers immunity if
they tell all about their deals with the Chinese Army. General
Reno is concerned that Congressional immunity will spoil her
plans to prosecute underlings and scapegoats in order to avoid
the big fish in the White House.

President Clinton personally engaged his pen to help Hughes,
Loral and Motorola export advanced military technology to China.
Motorola, Hughes and Loral engaged their pens to donate big
bucks to Bill Clinton and the DNC.
Clinton also used executive orders (fiat) to transfer oversight
for military technology away from the State Department and
Defense Department to his buddies at the Commerce Department.
In 1998, Congress over-rode Clinton with a veto proof vote.
Now Clinton plans to employ his crayon AGAIN to transfer
communication satellite export authority back to the Commerce
Department. This comes only weeks after he signed the 1998
Defense bill that returned satellite authority to the State
Department and Defense Department.
Congress overwhelmingly passed the provisions placing such
oversight with the diplomats and Pentagon brass hats. Clinton
claims he supports a "balanced" policy. However, Clinton wants
his cronies at Commerce to continue their extortion export
policy. The power transfer to Commerce is Clinton's way of
trying to "balance" VP Bore's 2000 campaign bank account.

One Clinton Commerce crony making noise lately is BXA head Bill
Reinsch. Reinsch is now appearing on the cover of Space News.
Reinsch is reported to have made new comments on why he deserves
to be trusted again with space exports to China. Reinsch
personally contributed to the LORAL China ("missing crypto
board") export fiasco and has since tried to cover it up.
Reinsch wants to re-apply his vast technical expertise to
oversee more military exports such as satellites. However,
Reinsch, according to his own bio, HAS NO technical expertise in
military technology. His only business experience is in running
housing for the elderly in southern Maryland.

China continues to crack down on dissidents. The People's Armed
Police (PAP) announced they have executed a computer executive
and an office worker for selling unauthorized imported Personal
Computers, phones and pagers. The executions follow the arrest
of businessman Lin Hai who is charged with threatening Chinese
State security. Lin is alleged to have given the email
addresses of some 30,000 Chinese citizens to a email newsletter
in the United States. Lin is facing up to life in prison.

Hua Di defected to America and became close friends with Clinton

William Perry. Hua's Clinton friends, in turn, enabled him and
his Communist buddy, Lt. General Huai Guomo, to purchase a
secure, nuclear hardened, fiber optic communication system for
the People's Army.
Hua returned to the homeland in January, 1998, under a PLA
promise that all was forgiven. Hua has reportedly been charged
with passing Chinese State secrets to America and now faces the
death penalty. Hua's Stanford friends have appealed to Beijing
