Those who are now sincerely supporting reparations for the decendents of former slaves may have similar motivations, but their position is not rational. Where is there any justice in forcing innocent people to pay for "damages" they did not cause? If this scheme succeeds, many ancestors of people who came here after the Civil War will be forced to pay "reparations". Millions of Americans are in this category. Will a Vietnamese refugee who came to America in the 1970's be forced to pay reparations for something that ended 100 years before they came to this country?
