Re: [CTRL] L-Soft archive [was: KRIS, URGENT!! OBSCENE...

2000-04-27 Thread Linda Minor

Yes, I have always had the same problem with attachments. That's why I use
the second archive shown below (http://archive.jab.org ). It works fine for
me. I use Outlook Express.

That's odd; perhaps I'm a bumbling fool when it comes to computers
(which is certainly likely), or maybe I'm extremely unlucky, but since
Linda began the archive at L-Soft I've never been able to open a
single attachment. I've tried on more occasions than I care to
remember, and have used at least half a dozen different
browsers over that time.

For example, here's a random L-Soft page with an attachment:

Fwd: Ayn Rand's Federal Reserve

as usual, the attached file failed to open for me, even after using
three different browsers, on two separate occasions:

Opera 3.62 (which I usually use) had a pop-up stating: The type of
file you just tried to open is unknown to Opera. Choose a program to
show the file; save the file or cancel the transfer.
Type: message/rfc822

Netscape Communicator 4.7 (which I use for e-mail) pretends to
transfer the data and load the page, but the attachments never
actually load. If I try to open it in a separate window, I get a blank
page.

Explorer 5.0 has a pop-up stating "Internet Explorer cannot open the
Internet site mhtml:http://home.ease.lsoft.com/scripts/...
=messsage/rfc822 Could not complete the operation due to error
800c0011."

This is typical of what happens. Any ideas what I might try? Or have
any of you ever had similar problems opening attachments at L-Soft?

NOTE: Trying one last time before sending this message, I was able
to open the attachment with the Opera browser (as it turns out, the
solution was staring me in the face all along), but still no luck with
Navigator or Explorer. Perhaps I'm just a 'lone nut' with his newbie
head up his computer illiterate ass. Anyone else out there having
trouble opening the above attachment with Netscape or Explorer?
