Internet Explorer (a/k/a Internet Exploiter) 4.x by default prompts you whether you want to open or save a file. Remember that anything with a .txt extension is safe, because it's nothing but a text file. If you're at all doubtful about a file, but want to download it anyway, save it to a special folder or even a floppy disk, then run your antivirus program on it before you do anything else.
