Hello I'm new to this list. Have been having virus 
trouble since I joined. Wondered if anyone else is getting 
it? After 2 years of no viruses I am now getting about one a day - 
always the same title - "WORM_KLEZ.H" but different e-mail titles (the one today 
had my name - re:rowenathursby,so cool a flash, enjoy). My PC-Cillin 
anti-virus programme alerts me each time and I delete, but this is a pain I 
could do without. Anyone else getting 
this?

I like Icke's first books - And the Truth Shall set you free - is 
one I often refer to. What makes people think he's spreading 
disinformation? I know he's off-beam with the reptilian stuff but in the 
beginning, a lot of what he wrote seemed pretty sound to me,with the 
proviso thateverything you read needs 
corroboration.

scholar is ever going to take the time to challenge that basket of bullshit 
because it's only disinformation served up for obvious deflecting 
purposes. There are only a limited number of people who care about 
what is going on in the cultural change. A certain number of newbies 
in this group will look atthe Icke material and assume that he has 
gone into depth with his research. That frees them from the 
responsibility of analyzing things on their own, that being the assumption 
that they can never find out more than Icke has already told 
them. It's in good hands, they feel, if it is in Icke's hands. 
Icke's books and tapes sell well in the New Age and Afrocentric 
bookstores. They emotionally support the "What have they done to me 
lately?" New Age, Afrocentric, and militia crowd who are too lazy to 
do any searches on their own, thinking that since they've found Icke's 
material that's all they need to do, and this is more than their neighbors 
have done. More important than Icke's rantings is finding out who is 
behind Icke and why they are using shovels to present their material?

Tom Perry column: Free speech squelched during visit

Even a few days after the fact, Congressman Mark Green was still excited
about riding with President Bush in his limo.

“It was fun. A lot fun,’’ Green said Thursday in a phone conversation from
Washington.

For Green, getting to travel the road from here to Kaukauna and back with the
president had to be something of a political and personal slam-dunk.

There are 535 members of Congress. A lot of them, including Republicans, will
never get as much face time with the president as Green did on Labor Day.

Troubling aspect

As the Congressman and other ardent Republicans continue to bask in the
afterglow of Monday’s presidential visit, I continue to be troubled by one
aspect of the event.

The fact that no one was allowed to bring signs to the edge of the tarmac
infringed on the rights of free expression that we are guaranteed by the
Constitution.

The fact that protesters were forbidden to go anywhere near Monday’s event
trampled on the rights of Americans to free and peaceful assembly.

Indeed, protesters were kept so far away that they might as well have been
across Wisconsin 172 playing the slot machines at Oneida Bingo  Casino.

As a result, an official visit by a sitting president, which was paid for by
taxpayers, turned into little more than a political rally for one select
group in lockstep with Republican ideology.

In contrast, when former Vice President Al Gore spoke at Bay Beach Amusement
Park last summer, sign-carrying protesters and hecklers were on the lawn well
within view and earshot of Democratic Party supporters.

Green explained on Thursday that the details for presidential visits are
worked out between the Secret Service and local law-enforcement agencies.

“All of the steps that were taken, all of the decisions that were made were
not political,’’ Green said.

In other words, security concerns override everything else, including the
fundamental rights of individuals.

The Secret Service and law-enforcement agencies have a tough job, especially
in these times, when there are so many nut cases around.

But sometimes I feel as if excessive paranoia is being used as a tool to
suppress lawful and legal dissent.

Bit by bit, it seems, agencies of our government are chipping away at basic
liberties, creating an atmosphere of intolerance toward difference of opinion.

Something lost

“I’ll say I think it’s unfortunate,’’ Green said. “I don’t know if 
we’ve
become so security conscious that we’ve lost something.’’

Indeed, what we’ve lost is a sense that we have to work extra hard to protect
Constitutional rights.

As a nation, we keep making it easier and easier for law-enforcement agencies
to hide behind the phrase “legitimate safety concerns’’ as they slice away
at civil liberties.

Now I don’t know if President Bush feels the same way as I do about this. But
maybe if Mark Green ever gets to ride in the presidential limo again, he’ll
bring up the issue.

according to most sources, america had no significant casualties in the
second world war. less than 50 000 i believe.

the russians, on the other hand, lost almost 20 million and the chinese were
very close to that as well. germany and england were both near 10 million.

But I will certainly unsub.

Before I go: anyone interested in Masonry and its history should look at the
articles in the Eighteenth-Century Studies Journal vol 33 number 2 , Johns
Hopkins Univ Press.  To paint all masonry as diabolical etc. is absurd. The
US Constitution is essentially a Masonic document. Separation of religion
and state (the original wording) was the very core of Masonry in that age.

Festival of Youth and Students in Algeria

Dear comrades,

Please accept our fraternal greetings to you and all the participants of the
forthcoming international festival. We welcome the festival as one
expression
of the struggle against imperialism which is suffocating the peoples of the
world and even threatening the very existence of humanity. In order to
defeat
our common enemy all the anti-imperialist forces around the world must
co-operate and strive to join hands in this struggle for life and death.
This
is why we propose that we mutually exchange delegation between the World
Festival, August 8-16, and the Anti-imperialist Camp, Assisi, July 28-August
5.

However, we have some burning questions regarding the most urgent
necessities
of the global anti-imperialist struggle:

Why have you chosen Algeria as the place to meet? You must have been aware
of
the civil war raging in this tortured county since one decade during which
the regime has proved to be a model pupil of the IMF? (as your German
preparatory committee admits it openly; see
http://weltfestspiele.online.de/kabylei1.html, May 29, 2001) You refer to
the
glorious Algerian liberation struggle but these times have definitely gone.
Already in 1988 the Algerian youth has been protesting against the austerity
programme imposed on them by the regime servile to imperialism and was
crushed violently. Non of the popular demands have been met and in the early
90ies a military dictatorship has been erected in order to keep the
pro-Western regime in power against the free will of the overwhelming
majority of the population. And why you keep insisting in this emergency
situation? Today the regime is about to repress another legitimate social
rebellion blaming it to be separatist. But this is simply a pretext as the
movement in Kabylia has met strong echo in the poor arabophone youth and has
explicitly stated to defend the national unity of Algeria as a gain of the
liberation struggle. Do you really think that an anti-imperialist gathering
can take the support of such a regime and thus support it politically?

And what about the solidarity with the Palestinian people? Their new
Intifada
is a cry for international solidarity. With no word you mention the
necessity
to stop the Zionist massacre and that all democratic and peace-loving forces
of the world urgently have to rally behind this sorely afflicted people to
defend their most elementary human right against the Israeli and Western
humanitarian crusaders: the right of self-determination.

We also have to insist on the solidarity with the Colombian people. One of
the most powerful popular movements of the world is defending itself in arms
against a cruel war unleashed by the narco-oligarchy backed by US
imperialism. Millions have lost their land and have been displaced, tens of
thousands of militant peasants and workers have been killed by the death
squads. With the Plan Colombia imperialism is stepping up its aggression.
Therefore we have to take immediate action.

We hope that you will consider our suggestions and will choose a different
place for the festival. We would be happy if we could reach commitments for
common action not only referring to the solidarity with the most outstanding
anti-imperialist struggles but also for a more general and systematic
co-operation which should be the concrete outcome of our  international
gatherings.

She apparantly had the same knee-jerk reaction to my satiric reply to
Teo...

She's sent me a private email saying she takes teasing as a personal
insult...in which case, she'd be better off not even getting on the
Internet, if the few teases from me get's her so bent out of shape,
she'll go off the deep end when some really serious DEBATES get
started...she needs to develop a thicker skin...

She seems to be a person who can't take any criticism, even of a light
and teasing type...one can only imagine what we'll see from her when
someone REALLY takes her to task on some subject...

simple jokes were getting misunderstood as insults.

threats than you, and come through.  I am making this public as a

it.  I won't. So back off.  MY HUMBLE APOLOGIES for EVEN daring to p ost to
this list.  I suggest you read Animal Farm, if you haven't already.  I guess I

At this point in time, I am seriously thinking of unseeing from this list.  I
